  • Nuclear power plant operations for electricity generation, rare-earth mining, nuclear medical research, and nuclear weapons reprocessing considerably increase radioactive waste, necessitating massive efforts to eradicate radioactive waste from aquatic environments. Cobalt (58Co) and strontium (90Sr) radioactive elements have been extensively employed in energy generation, nuclear weapon testing, and the manufacture of healthcare products. The erroneous discharge of these elements as pollutants into the aquatic system, radiation emissions, and long-term disposal is extremely detrimental to humans and aquatic biota. Numerous methods for treating radioactive waste-contaminated water have emerged, among which the adsorption process has been promoted for its efficacy in eliminating radioactive waste from aquatic habitats. The current review discusses the adsorptive removal of radioactive waste from aqueous solutions using low-cost adsorbents, such as graphene oxide, metal-organic frameworks, and inorganic metal oxides, as well as their composites. The chemical modification of adsorbents to increase their removal efficiency is also discussed. Finally, the current state of 58Co and 90Sr removal performances is summarized and the efficiencies of various adsorbents are compared.

  • Present work deals with a shape optimal design to minimize the weight of the mask-frame used in the process of OLED vapor deposition by the fine metal mask. A design concept for an optimal shape of the frame to increase the stiffness and to reduce the weight is derived using the topology optimization, shape design variables of the frame by adopting slots being defined. An optimal shape is determined by solving the shape optimization problem to minimize the weight of the frame under constraints of the maximum displacement. Weight of the optimal design is 117.6 kg, which is reduced by 138.4 kg(54.1%) of that of the first design, 256 kg.

  • A new copper adenine MOF (Bio-MOF) was synthesized by hydrothermal procedure and explored for its low temperature $CO_2$ adsorption. In this adenine a DNA nucleotide was used as a ligand for Cu in DMF solution at $130^{\circ}C$. The synthesized Bio MOF was characterized by XRD, SEM, EDS, TG and BE Tresults. The material possesses high surface area (716.08 $m^2g^{-1}$) with mono dispersed particles of about 2.126 nm. The maximum $CO_2$ adsorption capacity is 5wt% at $50^{\circ}C$, which is regenerable at $100^{\circ}C$ which is very low when compared to other metal organic frame work studied. This study proves that the synthesized material is also be a choice materials for low temperature $CO_2$adsorption.
