  • The metal spray method, one of the surface anti-corrosion methods to prevent the corrosion of the steel material, does little effects on the material, while it can be used on a wider surface. However, metal spraying is used only in a limited environment, and research on the case of using with concrete is lacking. The purpose of this study was to observe the corrosion behavior of steels with metal spray coatings in concrete using electrochemical methods And to evaluate the performance of the method according to the type of metal used in the metal spray. As a result, the Al metal spray coating showed the best performance, because Aluminum is oxidized in the cement mortar and forms alumina oxide film.

  • Metal materials have been used in the clothing design on the spirit of ingenious experiment by fashion designers, and they have been put to practical use by several designers who work out a scheme of popular fashion merchandise. This current starting from the 1960s was weakened in the 1980s, but it was appeared with various shapes of metal materials in the 1990s due to a popularity of techno/cyber fashion. Recently, textile engineering technology causes to develop new-materials which are practical and sanitary. The development of fashionable metal materials brings about the popularization of fashion with metal materials, and it induces that mainstream of modem fashion has been changed into designers of pursuing the spirit of ingenious experiment. This study examines the formative characteristics of metal materials that are based on the spirit of ingenious experiment. As a result, it is evaluated that the formative of metal materials shown in modern fashion is futurism, visual concentration, avast-garde, resistance, precious.

  • Water gas shift(WGS) is an important step in fuel process for fuel cells, and improperness of commercial WGS catalysts for use in fuel cell systems has prompted numerous researches on noble metal catalysts. A selected noble metal catalyst for water gas shift reaction(WGS) was prepared with various metal loadings. The prepared catalysts were tested under two feeding conditions. At moderate residence time, carbon monoxide conversion was much higher on the noble metal catalysts as compared to commercial high-temperature shift catalyst. Effects of metal loading were examined by activity tests at short residence time. Higher metal loading effected higher reaction rate. The kinetic data was fitted to simple reaction equations and effectiveness factor was estimated. The results suggest the necessity of a structural design for the highly active noble metal catalysts.

  • In this study, we evaluated the dilute HF cleaning to reduce residual defects made by metal CMP process. The purpose of this test is to observe the existence of barrier metal damage during DHF cleaning on condition that it should not affect metal thin film reliability, so we will get rid of slurry residual particles as a main defect of the metal CMP process for the better yield. In-line defect data showed us that slurry residual particles were removed by DHF application. The HF rinse significantly reduced metal contamination levels and surface roughness. The best effect by additional oxide loss was discovered when Dilute HF condition is 10".

  • A common site of fracture in maxillary complete denture is on the anteroposterior midline that coincides with the notch for relief of the labial frenum. Various approaches to reduce the incidence of this type of fracture have been suggested. The most widely used technique is the reinforcement of acrylic resin denture base with several solid metal forms. But few comparative studies on the efficacy of metal reinforcements have been reported. This study was conducted to compare reinforcing effects of commonly available metal reinforcements, which include wire, metal mesh embedded in the denture base and metal plate affixed to the impression surface of denture base by silicoating technique. This was load on the posterior. The strain gauges were oriented perpendicular to the anteroposterior midline of maxillary polished denture surface at one labial and the four palatal sites Non-renforced denture was used as control. The results were as follows : 1. In the non-reinforced denture group, only tensile strains on the palatal polished surface were observed. The tensile strains decreased in the order of incisive papilla, posterior denture border area, mid palatal area and rugae area. Compressive strain was observed on the labial polished surface. 2. As compared with the non-reinforced denture group, the metal plate or the metal mesh reinforced denture groups showed reduced palatal tensile strains, and the metal mesh reinforcement had a better reinforcing effect than the metal plate. But both reinforced denture groups showed no difference in the amount of compressive strain on the labial polished surface when compared to the non-reinforced denture group. 3. The metal wire positioned just above the labial notch decreased the compressive strain on the labial polished surface. But the presence of metal wires in the palatal polished surface caused increase in tensile strains in the area.

  • It is shown in the present study that during the HTS (hot temperature storage) test, the metal contamination by impure elements can be highly susceptible to the void formation, leading to the open failure of the power line in the memory device. Such a functional failure associated with the metal contamination was investigated to be dominant in the early stages of the HTS test while the formation of a stress-driven void is mainly observed in the later stages. In particular, it was found that the void formed in the contaminated metal takes on a slit-like shape which has been known to be characteristic of the stress-related voiding. The impure elements leading to the metal degradation were identified to be carbon and oxygen introduced during the metal sputtering process. The experimental works show that the device reliability was significantly improved by reducing the level of such impure elements within metal. • In this study, metal transfer characteristics in pulsed current metal inert gas (MIG) welding of aluminum was investigated. Based on the metal transfer characteristics from direct current electrode negative MIG welding, the one drop per one pulse(ODOP) condition was predicted and compared with experimental data. The results indicated that experimental pulse range for the ODOP condition is wider than that predicted from the DCEP MIG welding data. In addition, more stable metal trnasfer behavior was obtained at the higher end of the ODOP condition.

  • 'Jikjisimcheyocheal (Jikji afterwards)' is known as a first book printed by the metal type in the world. The metal type used for printing this book has not been found yet. To help for replicating the original metal type, it is required to investigate the composition analysis of the copied metal type. In this study, the composition analysis and thermodynamic care for replicating of ancient metal type was performed on the basis of an analytical reports concerned with the ancient metal type which made after Jikji printing. Metal types were made by remelting and casting of the mother alloy which came from a cast of a mixed metals in accordance with the composition revealed in the literatures. Change of composition during remelting of mother alloy and casting of metal was detected by the EDS analysis. The reasons for variation in composition were discussed by metallurgical and thermodynamic point of view, and a mixing ratio of metals to get the original composition of ancient metal type is suggested. Some attention should be paid on mixing, melting and casting of metals to get an objected composition for copy of ancient metal type.

  • Synthesis of carbon nanomaterials on a metal substrate by an ethylene fueled inverse diffusion flame was illustrated. Stainless steel plates were used for the catalytic metal substrate. The effects of catalyst metal particles were investigated through $Fe(NO_3){_3}$ (ferric nitrate, nonahydrate) and $Ni(NO_3){_2}$ (nickel nitrate, hexahydrate). Carbon nanotubes and nanofibers with diameters of $30{\sim}70nm$ were found on the substrate for the case of using SUS304 substrates only and using them with metal nitrates. In case of using metal nitrates, due to the easy activation of the metal particles, the formation and growth of carbon nanomaterials were occurred in the lower temperature region than that of using SUS304 substrates only.
