Two novel binuclear metal-organic coordination complexes $[Cd_2(L)_2(bpy)_2(H_2O)_2]{\cdot}6H_2O$ (1), $[Cd_2(L)_2(phen)_2-(H_2O)_2]{\cdot}2H_2O$ (2) (where L = 2-methylquinoline-3,4-dicarboxylate dianion, bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by single crystal Xray diffraction, spectral method (IR), elemental analysis and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). Both 1 and 2 consist of two Cd(II) atoms bridged by two monoatomic bridging carboxylate groups from two L ligands, and the second carboxylate group of each L is monodentately coordinated to Cd(II), creating a sevenmembered chelating ring. The coordination at each metal nucleus is completed by a water molecule and a chelating bidentate molecule. The 3D structures of the complexes are stabilized by ${\pi}-{\pi}$ stacking interactions and hydrogen-bonds.
Novel mononuclear metal complexes with the formula $[M(Ph_2PC_6H_4NC_3H_6NC_6H_4PPh_2)]$ (M=Pd (1); M=Pt (2)) were obtained when N,N'-bis[2'-(diphenylphosphino)phenyl]propane-1,3-diamine, I was mixed with cisdichlorobis(diethylsulfide)palladium and platinum in the presence of NEt3. Two mononuclear metal compounds with the fomula [M(Ph2PC6H4NH)(SEt2)Cl] (M=Pd (3); M=Pt (4)) were synthesized from $M(SEt_2)2Cl_2$ and N-(2'-diphenylphosphinophenyl)-4-amino-1,1,1,5,5, 5-hexafluoro-3-penten-2-one, II by the elimination reaction of hexafluoro pentenone. The X-ray single crystal structures of 1 and 4 are described. X-ray single crystal diffraction analyses reveal that compound 1 is a mononuclear palladium compound with P,N,N,P-coordination mode and 4 is a mononuclear platinum compound with P,N-coordination mode.
To improve the volatility and stability of lead complexes, the principle of stabilization by saturating the metal coordination sphere by intramolecular coordination through a β-diketonates with an ethereal group has was tested. Several new lead complexes with alkoxyalkyl-substituted β-diketonates, Pb(R1C(O)CHC(O)(CH2)3OR2)2(Rl=t-Bu, Me, OMe, i-Pr, R2=Me, Et), or carboxylate, Pb(OC(O)(CH2)3OEt)2, were prepared by the reaction between Pb(OAc)2 and corresponding alkoxyalkyl-substituted β-diketonates, and they were found to have a viscous liquid phase. The nature of the head (β-diketonate or carboxylate) or tails and substituents of β-diketonates appeared not to be important for the formation of the liquid phase. It is worth mentioning that Pb(OAc)2, which has limited use due to its low solubility, was successfully adopted as a starting material for the preparation of new lead complexes. Easy hydrolysis, reaction with HCl, and 13C NMR spectra indicated that tail portions were not coordinated to the metal as a copper derivative, Cu(t-BuC(O)CHC(O)(CH2)3OMe)2. All these complexes were not volatile enough for the MOCVD experiments, but a methyl derivative, Pb(MeC(O)CHC(O)(CH2)3OEt)2, showed some sublimation. The methoxy derivative, Pb(MeOC(O)CHC(O)(CH2)3OEt)2, was thermally unstable due to possible equilibrium between species coordinating with a keto oxygen atom and an ethereal atom of a methoxy group, which was confirmed by IR and 13C NMR spectra.

In this paper, in order to analyze lightning impulse response characteristics in combined installations of SPDs and RCDs, surge protection coordination between SPDs and RCDs are experimentally investigated by using the combination wave generator. Six different types of single-phase residual current operated circuit-breakers with integral overcurrent protection for household and similar uses(RCBOs) being present on the domestic market are tested according to KS C IEC 61009-1 standard. As a result, when a class I SPD is located on the source side of an RCBO, all kinds of specimens are able to provide the proper coordination between the SPD and RCBOs without nuisance tripping, unintended operation or damage due to test impulse currents. However, in the case that the class II SPD is located on the load side of RCBOs, a lot of L-N mode injected currents is split into the RCBO, and a few RCBOs are damaged. Coordination between SPDs and RCDs is not valid and a role of SPDs is of no use. When combining SPDs with RCDs, it is necessary to select SPDs and RCDs in consideration of the protection voltage level of metal oxide varistor embedded in RCDs.
A Schiff base ligand (Z)-N-((Z)-2-(sec-butylimino)-1,2-diphenylethylidene)butan-2-amine was synthesized by condensation of benzil with sec-butyl amine. Complexation of the ligand was carried out with first row transition elements, manganese(II) and nickel(II). Ligand and complexes were characterized by FTIR, elemental analysis and thermogravimetric analysis in solid state and by NMR ($^1H,\;^{13}C$) in solution form. Both the complexes demonstrate good catalytic activity for butadiene oligomerization under mild conditions with methylaluminoxane (MAO) as co-catalyst.

Developing magnetic thin films with desirable physical properties is a key step to promote research in spintronics. Organic-based magnetic material is a relatively new kind of materials which has magnetic properties in a molecular and microscopic level. These materials have been constructed by the coordination between 3d transition metal and organic materials producing long-range magnetic orders with a relatively high transition temperature. However, these materials were mostly synthesized as a form of powder, which is difficult to study for their physical properties as well as apply for electronic/spintronic devices. In this study, we have employed physical vapor deposition (PVD) to develop a new organic-based hybrid magnetic film that is achieved by the coordination of Fe and tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ). The IR spectra of the grown film show modified CN vibration modes in TCNQ, which suggest a strong bonding between Fe and TCNQ. The thin film has both ferromagnetic and semiconducting behaviors, which is suitable for molecular spintronic applications. The high resolution photoemission (HRPES) spectra also show shift of 1s peak point of nitrogen and the carbon 1s peaks display traces of charge transfer from Fe to TCNQ as well as shake-up features, which suggest strong bonding and anti-bonding nature of coordination between Fe and TCNQ.
Three-dimensional terbium coordination polymers with the formulas of [Tb4(NDC)6(H2O)5]${\cdot}$2H2O (1) and [Tb2(BPDC)3(H2O)3]${\cdot}$H2O (2) (NDC = 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate; BPDC = 2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'-dicarboxy-late) were prepared by hydrothermal reactions. Both compounds were structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 has a polymeric structure that contains four distinct Tb metals. Three Tb metals have a square-antiprismatic structure, and the remaining one has a 9-coordinate, triply capped trigonal-prismatic structure. Compound 2 is also a polymer with two distinct Tb metals, both of which have a square-antiprismatic structure. The pyridine nitrogen atoms of the BPDC 2- ligand do not coordinate to the metal centers in compound 2.
Mitochondria, fundamental cellular organelles that govern energy metabolism, hold a pivotal role in cellular vitality. While consuming dioxygen to produce adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the electron transfer process within mitochondria can engender the formation of reactive oxygen species that exert dual roles in endothelial homeostatic signaling and oxidative stress. In the context of the intricate electron transfer process, several metal ions that include copper, iron, zinc, and manganese serve as crucial cofactors in mitochondrial metalloenzymes to mediate the synthesis of ATP and antioxidant defense. In this mini review, we provide a comprehensive understanding of the coordination chemistry of mitochondrial cuproenzymes. In detail, cytochrome c oxidase (CcO) reduces dioxygen to water coupled with proton pumping to generate an electrochemical gradient, while superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) functions in detoxifying superoxide into hydrogen peroxide. With an emphasis on the catalytic reactions of the copper metalloenzymes and insights into their ligand environment, we also outline the metalation process of these enzymes throughout the copper trafficking system. The impairment of copper homeostasis can trigger mitochondrial dysfunction, and potentially lead to the development of copper-related disorders. We describe the current knowledge regarding copper-mediated toxicity mechanisms, thereby shedding light on prospective therapeutic strategies for pathologies intertwined with copper dyshomeostasis.
Fusion gene of GFPuv and Cytochrome c-552 was inserted into the pTrcHis B vector and transferred to E. coli. A fusion protein of GFPuv and Cytochrome c-552 was expressed in BL21. This fusion protein was composed of a His-tag for purification using an immobilized metal affinity chromatography(IMAC). IMAC constitutes a rather facile means of unravelling the principles of recognition and, in particular, of identifying the counterligands on the protein surface, which interact with the ligated and immobilized metal ions. Histidine when present on the surface of a protein molecule under a favorable solvent condition, may serve as electron donors in coordination with the immobilized chelates of some transition metal ions$(Ni^{2+})$.

The design and preparation of novel dye rotaxanes have gained much interest recently, since such structure usually exhibits peculiar spectral and optical changes. In spite of the promising results to date, increasing pressure remains to develop novel supramolecular structures based on stimuli-responsive systems. This presentation covers the study of inclusion complexes of cyclodextrins and various chromophores, with an emphasis on our most recent outcome of anisotropic hydrogel. In this system, physical gelation prepared from simple mixture of CD and a azo dye is completed through specific host-guest interaction. The obtained hydrogel exhibits respective morphological transitions based on supramolecular assembly and dissociation, leading to either precipitation or a sol-to-gel transition. It can identify different classes of metal ions, and, among them, naked-eye differentiation of lead ion is possible due to the coordination-induced unthreading of dye molecules. Accompanying structural changes were verified by numerous characterization techniques, including 2D-ROESY, HR-MAS, UV-Visible absorption, small-angle X-ray scattering, and induced circular dichroism measurements. Such properties discussed here will find useful in analytical applications, such as metal ion sensing and removal applications.
