압전팬의 제작과 평가 (Fabrication and evaluation of a piezoelectric fan)

  • Piezoelectric ceramics were made by a doctor blade methode and piezoelectric fans were fabricated by sandwiched a slim and long metal between two layers of ceramics. A maximum displacement of piezoelectric fan occurs in the resonance frequency of a long metal and the resonance frequency of them is in inverse proportion to the square of a length of metal. The piezoelectric fan made from a wide and thin piezoelectric ceramics($13{\times}0.2{\times}30mm^3$) showed a maximum displacement in all samples, and the maximum displacement was about 20mm in a commercial power (200V, 60Hz of sine wave).

High performance metal-only fan-beam reflectarray with a delta source applicable for an electromagnetic fence

  • The scattering solutions for multiple rectangular metallic gratings in a perfectly conducting plane excited by the TE and TM delta sources are presented using an overlapping T-block method. A reflectarray composed of rectangular metallic gratings shows fanbeam radiation patterns that are useful for an electromagnetic fence. The scattering characteristics of multiple rectangular gratings were computed in terms of total radiated power and antenna directivity. The design method of a fan-beam reflectarray to obtain high directivity was also compared with superdirective radiation and parabolic reflector phase.

  • An in-line dispersive delay line (DDL) demands low and controllable reflectivity of the reflectors, especially if the surface acoustic wave (SAW) propagates all the way along the reflecting structure. The metal reflectors are usually too strong and introduce too much attenuation in such a device. The proposed solution of this problem is to spatially separate the acoustic channels for different frequencies with the help of Fan-shaped Transducers (FIDT) and to use narrow open metal reflectors to reduce reflectivity. Special arrangement of FIDT is performed to use 180-deg. reflection of the SAW. Narrow open metal strips with a metallisation ratio of the order of 20% are used as reflectors with small and controllable reflectivity. Reflectivity of such strips is estimated both theoretically and experimentally. Experimental performance of the proposed DDL is presented.

Temperature Control using Peltier Element by PWM Method

  • This paper presents the temperature control of aluminum plate by using Peltier element. Peltier effect is heat pumping phenomena by electric energy as one of the thermoelectric effect. So if current is charged to Peltier element, it absorbs heat from low temperature side and emits heat to high temperature side. In this experiment, Peltier element is used to control the temperature of small aluminum plate with current control and operating cooling fan only while cooling duration. Operating cooling fan only while cooling duration is proper to get more rapid heating and cooling duration. As a result of experiment, it takes about 100sec period to repeating temperature between $35^{\circ}C$ and $70^{\circ}C$ and about 80sec from $40^{\circ}C$ to $70^{\circ}C$ in ambient air temperature $25^{\circ}C$ and while operating cooling fan only in cooling duration. Future aim is to apply this temperature control method in actuating SMHA(special metal hydride actuator) which is applicable in Siver project acting in low frequency range by using Peltier element for heating and cooling.

  • In TFT-LCD, mura is a defect which degrades the display quality. The resistance difference between gate lines is the main cause of H-Block mura. Two methods could eliminate this defect. A thinner gate layer or gate fan-out pattern decrease mura level. H-Block mura has been reduced after implementing the new schemes.

  • In order to reduce lean-time and cost, recently the technology of Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing(PR/M) has been used widely. So various RP/M methods have been developed and these systems commercialized several years ago. The machining process is one of these methods. It also offers advantages such as precision and versatility. But there are some considerations during machining. The most important problem among them is the fixturing. So we have to overcome the limitation because the fixturing time is depend on the complexity of geometry to be machined. In this paper, we have developed the fixturing technique using filling process that can be widely useful for rapid products within a short time. So we have carried out some kinds of rapid products such as plastic knob and metal fan using our fixturing process. In fixturing step, the filling material might chosen a resin or a alloy according to wether the work material is plastic or metal respectively. Also we developed the set-up equipment attachable on the table of the milling machine that provided practicable quality during a series of machining operations, named by two step milling process.

전산모사를 이용한 히트싱크의 열 유동 해석 (Heat flow Analysis of Heat Sink Using the Computational Simulation)

  • Heat analysis of the plate type and wave type heat sink were carried out by using computational simulation. The heat resistance and air flow of two heat sink models were analysed according to natural and forced convection condition and positions of fan. When a fan was at the position of z-axis and y-axis in forced convection, the heat resistances of plate type heat sink were $0.17^{\circ}C/W$, and $0.28^{\circ}C/W$ respectively. In the case of wave type heat sink, they were $0.18^{\circ}C/W$ and $0.53^{\circ}C/W$. As the air flow velocities were averagely $0.386\;m/s\~3.269\;m/s$, air flow velocity of plate type heat sink was faster than that of wave type. In this experiment, it was observed that the plate type heat sink showed a good ability of heat radiation comparing with wave type one.

일부 업종의 용접흄 분석 및 폭로농도에 관한 연구 (A study on the airborne concentration of welding fume for some manufacturing industries)

  • The airborne concentrations of the welding fumes produced during $CO_2$ arcwelding process at shipbuilding, shiprepairing, container manufacturing and car accessary manufacturing industry were investigated. The effects how much reduced the welding fume were checked when the portable fan was used. The results were as follows; 1.The geometric mean of welding fume concentration in shipbuilding factory was $10.05mg/m^3$. This exposure concentration was higher than other 3 manufacturing industries at 95% confidence level. 2. The sampling filters for welding fume could be digested with acid within 1 hour by microwave oven. The recoveries for investigated metal elements were all over 95%. 3. The optimal wavelength could be selected for the simultaneous analysis of 8 metal elements by ICP(Inductively Coupled Plasma). 4. Noxious gases($O_1,NO_2$) produced during $CO_1$ gas arc welding process were detected that the concentration of ozone($O_1$) was less than 0.01 ppm and that of nitrogen dioxide($NO_2$) was 0.01-0.03 ppm. 5. The geometric mean of welding fume particle diameter was $1.26{\mu}m$ and geometric standard deviation was 1.51 for the counts when particle an analyzer(ELZONE) had been used. 6. When the portable fan had been used,the reduced percent of total welding fume for workers was about 47.8% when portable fan was applied to blow and 71.7% when to exhaust.

  • 본 연구에서는 복합재료 팬 블레이드 도브테일 요소의 인장하중에 따른 점진적 파손거동을 유한요소 시뮬레이션을 통한 수치적 연구를 수행하고, 인장시험을 통하여 정확도를 검증한다. 도브테일 요소는 터보 팬 엔진의 팬 블레이드를 디스크와 결합시키는 조인트의 하나로, 통상 티타늄 등의 금속 재료로 제작되나 경량화 등의 이유로 복합재료의 적용이 연구되고 있다. 하지만 복합재료를 이용한 팬 블레이드 제조과정에서 드롭오프 플라이(Drop-off ply), 수지 포켓(resin pocket) 등의 제조 결함이 필연적으로 발생한다. 이러한 제조 결함이 복합재료 팬 블레이드 도브테일 요소에 미치는 영향을 확인하기 위해 유한요소모델을 이용한 수치해석을 수행하여 예측 결과와 인장시험 결과를 비교 분석한다. 이때 층간분리(delamination) 거동을 모사 가능한 응집영역 모델을 적용하였다. 결론적으로, 열 잔류응력 및 두께방향 압축하중에 의한 계면 물성 강화 효과를 고려하여 유한요소 해석결과와 시험결과 간의 높은 상사성을 얻을 수 있었다.

펠티어 소자를 이용한 알루미늄 판의 온도 제어 (Temperature Control of the Aluminum Plate using Peltier Element)

  • This paper present the temperature control of aluminum plate using Peltier element. Peltier effect is heat pumping phenomena by electric energy as one of the thermoelectric effect. So if current is asserted to Peltier element, it absorbs heat from low temperature side and emits to high temperature side. In this experiment, Peltier element is used to control the temperature of small aluminum plate with ON/OFF control scheme and fan ON/OFF. As the result of experiments, it is proper to act fan only while cooling duration and there exist a proper cooling current to drop temperature rapidly. It takes about 100sec to increase to 7$0^{\circ}C$ and drop to 35$^{\circ}C$ of aluminium plate temperature and about 90sec to increase to 7$0^{\circ}C$ and drop to 4$0^{\circ}C$ in ambient temperature 3$0^{\circ}C$ while fan is on only in cooling duration. Future aim is to realize more rapid temperature control and develop SMHA(special metal hydride actuator) by using Peltier element to heating and cooling.
