An isolated bridge using a laminated rubber bearing provides an elastic support of continuous span and prevents the transmission of excessive seismic force from the substructure of the bridge, which uses a metal bearing, as this permits a relative displacement between the super-and substructure. Hawever, this kind of bridge is caused long periodic, as a result of enlargingtotal thickness of the rubber, since it corresponds to temperature change and increases the horizontal displacement of the superstructure. This paper uses a numerical study to describe the pounding problem between adjacent decks when subjected to a strong earthquake. Furthermore, numerical results are clarified for the buffer rubber used to mitigate the pounding force between adjacent decks.

When designing an engine part the designer has to choose the proper material and to define the dimensions of the part. in the most rudimentary case he has available as guidelines the collective experience from similar applications. The performance of the part is tested on occasion of the trial runs for the full system, and possibly occurring deficiencies are corrected until a satisfactory usable life and safety of operation is achieved. This procedure is time consuming and costly, and the learning effect is minimal. These requirements have to be condensed into characteristic values ameanable to computation. Since testing and computation are complementary we have to look at the currently existing mathematical models for engine bearing performance.
This work shows that both L2 and L3 bearing two and four N-$(CH_2)_2OCH_3$ groups, respectively, can be prepared selectively by the reaction of $L^1$ with 1-bromo-2-methoxyethane. The di-N-substituted macrocycle $L^2$ readily forms its copper(II) and nickel(II) complexes. The N-$(CH_2)_2OCH_3$ groups in $[CuL^2]^{2+}$ are coordinated to the metal ion, whereas those in $[NiL^2]^{2+}$ are not involved in coordination. Interestingly, $L^3$ reacts with $Cu^{2+}$ ion to form $[Cu(HL^3)]^{3+}$, in which one tertiary amino group is not involved in coordination.

The analysis had been already completed to detect forming defects for the forming processes of C/R bearing rings. But some unpredicted problems were found through the experiments. So expert redesigned new forming processes to prevent the problems and new analysis was began according to the new processes to find faults for the processes. The forming processes consist of 1 for the outer ring. 6 inner ring. The thickness of metal sheet used is changed to 1.5mm from 1.6mm. Elasto-plastric finite element method is applied to involve the effect of spring back . The most representative alteration is forming of two predents to assist later forming . Thining and distribution of high residual stress are derived from the results of simulations. It is confirmed that the industry expert agree the possiblilty of defects dervied from the new FEM results.
A study was made to examine the effects of post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) on the toughness and microstructures in the weld heat-affacted zone(HAZ) of Cu-bearing HSLA-100 steel. The Gleeble thermal/mechanical simulator was used to simulate the weld HAZ. The behavior of Cu-precipitates in HAZ is similar to that in base plate. PWHT at 55$0^{\circ}C$ shows highest hardness and lowest toughness, whereas PWHT at $650^{\circ}C$ shows reasonable toughness. Cu precipitated during agcing for increasing the strength of base metal is dissolved during single thermal cycle to 135$0^{\circ}C$ and is precipitated little on cooling and heating during subsequent weld thermal cycle. It precipitates by introducing PWHT.
Two new chemosensors, rhodamine 6G derivative bearing hydroxyethyl group (1) and rhodamine base derivative bearing 15-crown-5 group (2) were synthesized and their sensing behaviors toward various metal ions were investigated by UV/Vis and fluorescence spectroscopies. Addition of $Hg^{2+}$ ion to a $CH_3CN$ solution of 1 and 2 gave visual color changes as well as fluorescent OFF-ON observations. Selectivity and sensitivity of 1 towards $Hg^{2+}$ are excellent enough to detect micromolar level of $Hg^{2+}$ ion, even in equeous media and biological sample (HeLa cell).
Mesothermal, tellurium-bearing gold-silver vein mineralization of the Yuryang mine was formed in mineralogically complex quartz-sulfide veins that filled the fault fractures in Precambrian gneiss within Gyeonggi Massif. Ore grades average 179 g/ton gold with a gold/silver ratio of 1.5 : 1. Ore mineralization was deposited in single stage. Major ore mineralization can be divided into two mineralization phases with increasing paragenetic time: Fe-sulfide and base-metal mineralization phase $\rightarrow$ telluride mineralization phase. Mining activity in the Gubong gold mine started in 1908 and lasted up to recent days. Heavy metals derived from the activity may be porentially toxic to human life and envirinment of this area. Because metal toxicity depends on chemical associations into five operationally defined groups: exchangeable, carbonate, reducible, oxidizable, and residual fractions, and the Most of heavy metals have significant little significance (alomost<1%). And Cu is mainly associated with the oxidizable from. Total concentration of heavy metals, pH, and mineralogy affect the chemical forms of the metals. Heavy metal concentrations. Significant amounts of metal elements (5∼65.1% in Pb, 6.2∼39.7% in Zn, 8.7∼54.7% in Cd, and 3.6∼24.7% in Cu) were present in carbonate form from mine wastes, contaminated soils and sediments. High pH value and cerussite (Pb bearing carbonate mineral) in mine wastes, contaminated soils and sediments. High pH value and cerussite (Pb beraring varbonate mineral) in mine waste support this result. Areas with high corbonate bound from would have higher potentoal conamination, however, because elements of carbonate bound forms are easily mobilized under lower pH conditions in the surface envionments due to acid to rain soil acidification.
Heavy metal adsorption by microbial cells is an alternative to conventional methods of heavy metal removal and recovery from metal-bearing wastewater The waste Sac-chuomyces cerevisiae is an inexpensive, relatively available source of biomass for heavy metal biosorption. Biosorption was investigated by free and immobilized-S. cerevisiae. The order of biosorption capacity was Pb>Cu>Cd with batch system. The biosorption parameters had been determined for Pb with free , cells according to the Freundlich and Langmuir model. It was found that the data fitted reasonably well to the Freundlich model. The selective uptake of immobilized-S. cerevisiae was observed when all the metal ions were dissolved in a mixed metals solution(Pb, Cu, Cr and Cd). The biosorption of mixed metals solution by immobilized-cell was studied in packed bed reactor. The Pb uptake was Investigated in particular, as it represents one of the most widely distributed heavy metals in water. We also tested the desorption of Pb from immobilized-cell by us- ing HCI, $H_2SO_4$ and EDTA.

The main reason for the heat induced accidents occurring at the after stern tube journal bearing is the excessive local pressure caused by the deflection of the propulsion shaft due to the propeller loads. It is expected that the contact area could beenlarged and the local pressure reduced accordingly by using a lining material having alow Young's modulus instead of the existing white metal. The purpose of this work is to investigate the characteristics of the pressure distribution and determine the allowable pressure value in the case where bearing products made of materials having a low Young's modulus are used. In this study, the propeller loads, heat effect, and hull deflection are considered in the evaluation of the local pressure of the ship propulsion shaft. Also, the Hertzian contact condition was applied. From the analysis results in the case where a lining material with a low Young's modulus was used, it was found that a robust design could be achieved and the local pressure could be reduced effectively independent of the load conditions. It will be possible to producenew products made of materials having a low Young's modulus if the manufacturer confirms the performance specifications drawn by this study.
