  • Background: Multiple studies have reported associations between the PSCA rs2294008 C > T polymorphism and GC, but susceptibility has proven inconsistent. Therefore, we estimates the relationship between the rs2294008 C > T polymorphism and GC by meta-analysis. Methods: PubMed, Embase and Web of Science databases were searched and nine independent case-control studies were included in this meta-analysis. Crude ORs with 95% CIs were extracted according to the Mantal-Haenszel method and pooled to assess the strength of the association. Results: We observed that the PSCA rs2294008 C > T polymorphism was significantly correlated with GC risk when all studies were pooled into the meta-analysis. Further subgroup analysis showed the polymorphism to be linked with diffuse and noncardia GC in the allele contrast model, homozygote codominant model, dominant model, and recessive model. However, no connection was apparent for intestinal and cardia GC. In the stratified analysis by ethnicity, significant associations were observed in Asians for the recessive model. Interestingly, the relationship was particularly significant in the Chinese population. Conclusions: Our findings suggest that the PSCA rs2294008 C > T polymorphism is a risk factor for GC, especially in diffuse and noncardia GC and in Chinese.

  • Companies can identify user groups or consumption trends by collecting and analyzing opinions of many users on special subjects or their products as well as utilize them as various purposes such as predicting some specific trends or marketing strategies. Therefore current analyzing tools of social media have come into use as a means to measure the performances of social media marketing through network's statistical analysis. However these tools require expensive computing and network resources including burden of costs for building up and operating complex software platforms and much operating know-how. Hence, small companies or private business operators have difficulty in utilizing those social media data effectively. This paper proposes a framework applied into developing analysis system of social media. The framework could be set up and operate the system to extract necessary social media's data. Also to design the system, this study suggests a meta-model of proposed framework and to guarantee completeness and consistency, a formal specification of meta-model by using Z language is suggested. Finally, we could verify the clearness of framework's design by performing Z model checking of formal specification's output through Z-EVES tool.

  • As a technique to enhance reusability for the created artifacts in software modeling process, the model driven method such like MDA has been applied. Unfortunately, the hierarchical and systematic MDA based development technique using UML is poor yet. This causes the problem that the MDA modeling with high consistency and reusability based on MDA metamodel is not being realized. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a MDA (PIM/PSM) component modeling technique using 2+1 view integrated metamodel. At first, the meta-architecture view model which can represents development process view and MVC view is defined. Then, the hierarchical integrated metamodels per view are addressed separately for modeling process and MVC at metamodel level on the hierarchy of the defined meta-architecture view model. These metamodels are defined hierarchically by layering the modeling elements in PIM and PSM pattern for UML models and GUI models. Appling the proposed metamodel to an ISMS application system, it is shown as a component modeling case study based on MDA. Through this approach, we are able to perform a component model with consistency and hierarchy corresponding to development process and MVC way. Accordingly, this may improve more independence and reusability of model.

  • The growth mechanism of AMT(Ammonium Meta-Tungstate) crystal was interpreted as two-step model. The contribution of the diffusion step increased with the increase of temperature, crystal size, and supersaturation. The crystal size distribution from a batch cooling crystallizer was predicted by the numerical solution of a mathematical model which uses the kinetics of nucleation and crystal growth. Temperature control of a batch crystallizer was studied using Learning control algorithm. The purity of AMT crystal producted in this investigation was above 99.99%.

  • Replicated data that is used for fault tolerant distributed system requires replica control protocol to maintain data consistency. The one of replica control protocols is quorum consensus method which accesses replicated data by getting majority approval. If site failure or communication link failure occurs and any one can't get quorum consensus, it degrades the availability of data managed by quorum consensus protocol. So it needs for ghost to replace the failed site. Because ghost is not full replica but process which has state information using meta data, it is important to simplify meta data. In order to maintain availability and simplify meta data, we propose a method to use cohort set as ghost's meta data. The proposed method makes it possible to organize meta data in 2N+logN bits and to have higher availability than quorum consensus only with cohort set and dynamic linear voting protocol. Using Markov model we calculate proposed method's availability to analyze availability and compare it with existing protocols.

  • Background: Rs31489 in the cleft lip and palate transmembrane1-like gene (CLPTM1L) has been identified to be associated with lung cancer through genome-wide association studies (GWAS). However, some recent replication studies yielded inconclusive results. Thus, we undertook this study to investigate the precise effect of rs31489 on lung cancer susceptibility. Materials and Methods: A hospital-based case-control study in 1,673 Chinese subjects (611 individuals with lung cancer and 1,062 controls) and a meta-analysis among 32,199 subjects (16,364 cases and 15,835 controls) were performed in this study. Results: In our case-control study, rs31489 was inversely associated with lung cancer (AC versus CC: OR=0.68, 95%CI=0.52-0.88; additive model: OR=0.68, 95%CI=0.54-0.85; dominant model: OR=0.65, 95%CI =0.51-0.84). Stratification analysis by smoking status showed a significant association and strong genetic effect in non-smokers but not in smokers. Our meta-analysis further confirmed the association, although with significant heterogeneity contributed by study design and source of controls, as shown by stratified analysis. Sensitive and cumulative analyses both indicated robust stability of our results. In addition, there was no observable publication bias in our meta-analysis. Conclusions: Overall, the findings from our replication study and meta-analysis demonstrated that CLPTM1L gene rs31489 is significantly associated with lung cancer.

  • Background: Non-synonymous polymorphisms in XRCC1 hase been shown to reduce effectiveness of DNA repair and be associated with risk of certain cancers. In this study we aimed to clarify any association between XRCC1 Arg399Gln and colorectal cancer (CRC) risk by performing a meta-analysis of published case-control studies. Materials and Methods: PubMed and Google Scholar were searched to explore the association between XRCC1 and CRC. Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated to estimate the association strength. Publication bias was assessed by Egger's and Begg's tests. Results: Up to January 2015, 35 case control studies involving 9,114 CRC cases and 13,948 controls were included in the present meta-analysis. The results showed that the Arg399Gln polymorphism only under an allele genetic model was associated with CRC risk (A vs. G: OR 0.128, 95% CI 0.119-0.138, p<0.001). Also, this meta-analysis suggested that the XRCC1 Arg399Gln polymorphism might associated with susceptibility to CRC in Asians (A vs G: OR 0.124, 95% CI 0.112-0.138, p<0.001) and Caucasian (A vs G: OR 0.132, 95% CI 0.119-0.146, p<0.001) only under an allele genetic model. Conclusions: This meta-analysis confirms the association between XRCC1 Arg399Gln polymorphism and CRC risk and suggests that the heterogeneity is not strongly modified by ethnicity and deviation from the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium.

  • This paper proposes a design method for improving the frequency-domain performance reliability of dynamic systems with uncertain and degrading components. Discrete frequencies are used in this method as surrogates for the frequency band of interest, and the conformance of the frequency responses to the specification at these frequencies is utilized to model the frequency-domain performance reliability. A meta-model for the frequency responses, an extreme-value event, and the set-theory are integrated to improve the computational efficiency of the reliability estimation. In addition, a sample-based approach is presented to evaluate and optimize the estimated performance reliability. A case study of a vibration absorber system showed that the proposed design method has engineering applications.

  • The objectives of this study are (1) to review previous studies in the context of brand management in consumer behaviors using costumer based brand equity (CBBE) and theory of planned behavior (TPB) as the basic foundation of the study; and (2) to develop a comprehensive research model by integrating relevant research constructs using meta-analysis. This study reviewed a total 173 studies from 58 published papers with 40 journals during 1991~2014 and developed a comprehensive framework with 16 research hypotheses. The results showed that (1) brand image, brand personality, brand association, and subjective norm are the important antecedents of brand attitudes; (2) brand awareness, brand trust, perceived quality, and perceived behavioral control are the important antecedents of brand loyalty; (3) brand attitude positively influences brand loyalty, which further influences brand equity; and (4) brand equity positively influences behavioral intention. This study fills in the research gap by integrating more research variables into CBBE model, particularly to include the influence of social context on consumer behavior through TPB. These results indicated that the integration between CBBE and TPB is meaningful and the comprehensive model can explain more variances than that of the individual model. Limitations, and recommendations for future research in this area are provided.

  • This study is to develop a performance analysis model for SMEs.Based on similar performance indicators through previous studies, performance indicators for SMEs were rewritten.Through the Korean Journal Citation Index (KCI), 75 related data were classified and a comprehensive SME performance analysis model was developed.Performance analysis was divided into two axes and classified into tables. The horizontal axis is the spatial performance range, which is divided into three areas: performance management by department/function, integrated performance management for the entire organization, and governance performance management requiring policy feedback. The vertical axis is subdivided into short-term, mid-term, and long-term by time and growth stage, and is divided into three parts: technical performance according to technological input, economic performance as organizational performance, and social performance for policy utilization. Then, performance indicators were mapped to each column. As a result of the survey, 28% of technical performance was analyzed as a result of frequency analysis, and performance indicators were organized into five categories: IT, R&D, certification, patent, and innovation. Economic performance was divided into 29%, BSC, HRD, logistics, production quality management, financial support, asset management, etc. 6 categories, social performance 43%, ESG, marketing, export, policy support, consulting, cooperation, etc. 7 categories.Limitations of the study include the narrowness of the survey that derived only performance indicators despite being a meta-analysis, and the performance model was mapped and classified according to growth stage and support period.however Insufficiency of validity due to lack of evidence, performance indicators were developed, but there were limitations in utilization for practical use.
