In this paper, we propose a CAN message compression method using bit rearrangement to reduce the CAN bus load and the error probability during the transmission of CAN messages. In conventional CAN message compression methods, message compression is accomplished by sending only the differences between the previous data and the current data. In the proposed method, the difference bits are rearranged to further increase the compression efficiency. By simulations in car applications, it is shown that the CAN transmission data is further reduced up to 26% by the proposed method, compared with the conventional method.

Variable length information message is a communication protocol standard in order for computer network systems to provide efficient delivery of information. The variable length information messages were developed for varying and controlling details of information in accordance with message receiver's required information level or information access level. In the previous studies, data compressing techniques have been in use for information message optimization technologies in order to reduce physical sizes of information messages. In optimization technologies for information messages, accuracy of information is considered as the most important factor; therefore, only non-loss compression techniques are applied to the optimization technologies. However, the non-loss compression based information message optimization methods are not efficient in data compression, and these are limited to efficient delivery of information in wireless network environments that have constraint bandwidth. In this paper, we attempt to optimize information in the variable length information messages at message fields in order to reduce physical sizes of messages more efficiently. To demonstrate the efficiency of our approach, we conduct optimization experiments for variable length information messages.

A vector timestamp is used to satisfy message ordering in a group communications. In this paper, we propose a new vector timestamp compression method which is applicable to a single process group environment where one process belongs to only one precess group. An existing compression method compares the fields of the previously sent vector timestamp with thouse of the currently updated vector timestamp, then sends only the modified fields of the vector timestamp. Unlike the previous one, a proposed compression method performs individual compression for each process using the locally maintained vector timestamp information on other processes. Also, we logicallyproved the causal ordering algorithm using the new compression method and compared the performance of the proposed method with one of the previous compression method by computer simulation. Using the proposed compression method, the message overhead required for causal ordering can be reduced.
Wireless Session Protocol(WSP) which was updated and supplemented based on HyperText Transfer Protocol(HTTP) was designed by Wireless Application Protocol(WAP) forum regarding the characteristics of wireless environment. WSP improved the performance in wireless network, and introduced various facilities considering wireless environment. In this paper, we more improve the performance of WSP adding protocol message compression capability; we cail improved WSP protocol as WSP+. And, we analysis the performance of each protocol with WSP and WSP+ implementation. As a result of experiment, the capability which proposed in this paper reduced a response traffic about 45%. In $10^{-4}$ bit error rate, we also found the packet loss rate and time delay per transaction of WSP+ was improved over 40%. Finally, we found that the protocol message compression capability reduces message retransmission count in transaction layer and shorten the delay time per transaction by reducing a message size.

In this paper we have developed a message transfer protocol, CMP, which improves MSP's message processing capability. The proposed method has taken into account document classification to improve the efficiency of message processing. The difference between the conventional MSP and CMP has been addressed. The CMP's performance has been shown by various experiments including number, alphabet, Korean letter, Chinese letter, music sound and compression file transmission. And security capability of both protocols has been compared based on the specification of FIPS 140-2. The CMP's overall performance is shown to be superior to that of MSP on the processing speed in the performance perspective and on the function of cryptographic module interface and cryptographic key management in the security perspective respectively.
In this work we deal with the problem of how to squeeze multiple ciphertexts without losing original message information. To do so, we formalize the notion of decomposability for public-key encryption and investigate why adding decomposability is challenging. We construct an ElGamal encryption scheme over extension fields, and show that it supports the efficient decomposition. We then analyze security of our scheme under the standard DDH assumption, and evaluate the performance of our construction.

Currently in a Ubiquitous Sensor Network (USN) research field, supporting mobility is recognized as an important technology. MIPv6 and Network Mobility(NEMO) Basic Support Protocol are standard protocols to support mobility in the Internet. However, if they are applied to USN with no modification, handoff performance decreases due to the size of their binding message. An existing lightweight protocol for NEMO protocol has a compatibility problem of Sequence Num. and does not optimally compress binding messages considering 6LoWPAN network structure and addressing. This paper proposes optimal header compression which supports node-based mobility and network-based mobility. Our optimal compression technique compresses a 32bytes binding update(BU) message and a 12bytes binding ACK(BA) message of MIPv6 into 13bytes and 3bytes, and a 40bytes BU message and a 12bytes BA message of NEMO protocol into 13bytes and 3bytes. The result shows that our protocol compresses 15bytes (NEMO-BU) and 1byte (NEMO-BA) more than the existing protocol and achieves 8.72% handoff performance improvement.
The increasing number of ECUs in automobiles causes the CAN bus overloaded and consequently the error probability of data transmission increases. Since the time duration for the data transmission is proportional to CAN frame length, it is desirable to reduce the frame length. In this paper, we present a CAN message compression method using Data Length Code (DLC) and bit rearrangement. By simulations using actual CAN data, it is shown that the CAN transmission data is reduced up to 54 % by the proposed method, compared with conventional methods.

Controller area network (CAN) was designed for multiplexing communication between electronic control units (ECUs) in vehicles and thus for decreasing the overall wire harness. The increasing number of ECUs causes the CAN bus overloaded and consequently the error probability of data transmission increases. Since the time duration for the data transmission is proportional to CAN frame length, it is desirable to reduce the frame length. In this paper, a CAN message compression method is proposed using Data Length Code (DLC) and compression area selection algorithm to reduce the CAN frame length and the error probability during the transmission of CAN messages. By the proposed method, it is not needed to predict the maximum value of the difference in successive CAN messages as opposed to other compression methods. Also, by the use of DLC, we can determine whether the received CAN message has been compressed or not without using two ID's as in conventional methods. By simulations using actual CAN data, it is shown that the CAN transmission data is reduced up to 52 % by the proposed method, compared with conventional methods. By using an embedded test board, it is shown that 64bit EMS CAN data compression can be performed within 0.16ms and consequently the proposed algorithm can be used in automobile applications without any problem.

A new vocoder of Code Excited Linear Predictive (CELP) based on Adaptive Multi Rate (AMR) 7.4kbit/s mode is proposed in this paper. The proposed vocoder achieves a better compression rate in an environment of Speaker Dependent Coding System (SDSC) and is efficiently used for systems, such as OGM(Outgoing message) and TTS(Text To Speech), which needs only one person's speech. In order to enhance the compression rate of a coder, a new Line Spectral Pairs(LSP) code-book is employed by using Centroid Neural Network (CNN) algorithm. In comparison with original(traditional) AMR 7.4 Kbit/s coder, the new coder shows 27% higher compression rate while preserving synthesized speech quality in terms of Mean Opinion Score(MOS).
