  • Two different methods (Sieve shaker, Elzone particle size analyzer) were used to investigate rice flour particle size obtained by various milling method. Results of Elzone particle size analyzer were more effective than Sieve shaker in determining particle size, and the distribution of particle size of rice flours was affected by the type of the milling methods used. A rice flour, prepared in a Pin mill had a particle size range of $60{\sim}500$ mesh, and 30.38% of the sample was in the particle size range $200{\sim}270$ mesh. A rice flour, prepared in a Colloid mill had a particle size range of $40{\sim}500$ mesh and more of flour particles appeared in the range $140{\sim}200$ mesh than any other particle size. A rice flour, prepared in a Micro mill had a particle size range of $140{\sim}500$ mesh, and 41.62% of the sample was in the particle size range over 500 mesh. A rife flour, prepared in a Jet mill had a finer flour particle size was over the particle size range 500 mesh. The finer rice flour gave the highest L value and the lowest a value. The wet-milled flour particles were observed as a cluster of starch granules and the particles of rice flour (dry-milling) were observed as fragment of rice grains. Scanning Electron Photomicrographs revealed that visual differences in structure between milling methods, and similar results with Elzone particle size analyzer method in particle size.

  • The heat transfer characteristics of flow through two inclined wire-mesh baffles in a rectangular channel were investigated experimentally with varying the mesh number of wire screens and inclination angle of the baffles. Two different types of wire meshes such as dutch and plain weaves, were used in this experiment. Three kinds of baffle plates with different mesh specifications in the dutch weave and four different kinds in the plain weave were manufactured. Baffles were mounted on bottom wall with varied angles of inclination. Reynolds number was varied from 23,000 to 57,000. It is found that the placement of inclined wire-mesh baffles in the channel affects the heat transfer characteristics by combining both jet impingement and flow disturbance. The wire screen modified the flow structure leading to a change in the heat transfer characteristics. The results show that the baffle plate with the most number of mesh (type SA) has the highest heat transfer rate.

  • The Wireless Mesh Network uses a wireless communication technology with transmission rates similar to that of a cable, which is used as a backbone network. The topology structure is in a Mesh form which resembles an Ad-hoc network, however a metric is needed in order to set the channel and channel methods since the operation intentions and interior motions are different. This thesis proposes a metric(ETR : Expected Transmission Rate) that sets the channel with physical link performance and multi hop transmission capabilities. This metric will also be based on multi channel creation methods and Hop-by-hop routing techniques for an effective multi hop transmission with no loops.

  • With the advancement of information and communication technology, tactical networks are continuously being converted to All-IP future tactical networks that integrate all application services based on Internet protocol. Futuristic tactical mesh network is built with tactical WAN (wide area network) nodes that are inter-connected by a mesh structure. In order to guarantee QoS (quality of service) of application services, tactical service mesh (TSM) is suggested as an intermediate layer between infrastructure and application layers for futuristic tactical mesh network. The tactical service mesh requires dynamic QoS monitoring and control for intelligent QoS coordination. However, legacy networking nodes used for existing tactical networks are difficult to support these functionality due to inflexible monitoring support. In order to resolve such matter, we propose a tactical mesh WAN node as a hardware/software co-designed networking node in this paper. The tactical mesh WAN node is conceptually designed to have multi-access networking interfaces and virtualized networking switches by leveraging the DANOS whitebox server/switch. In addition, we explain how to apply eBPF-based traffic monitoring to the tactical mesh WAN node and verify the traffic monitoring feasibility for supporting QoS coordination of tactical-mesh traffic.

  • In this research, the design optimization of a composite sandwich has been performed for using as an airplane wing skin. Automated analysis framework for aero-structure interaction is used for calculating load data on the wing. For automated analysis framework, FLUENT is used for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis. CFD mesh is generated automatically by using parametric modeling of CATIA and GAMBIT. A computational structure mechanics (CSM) mesh is generated automatically by the parametric method of the CATIA and visual basic script of NASTRAN-FX. The structure is analyzed by ABAQUS. Composite sandwich optimization is performed by NASTRAN SOL200. Design variables are thicknesses of the sandwich core and composite skin panel plies. The objective is to minimize the weight of the wing and constraints are applied for wing tip displacement, global failure index and local failure indexes.

  • In this paper, we propose a scheme that maps the time-delay neural network (TDNN) into the neurocomputer called EMIND-II which has the wavefront toroidal mesh-array structure. This neurocomputer is scalable, consists of many timeshared virtual neurons, is equipped with programmable on-chip learning, and is versatile for building many types of neural networks. Also we define the programming model of this array and derive the parallel algorithms about TDNN for the proposed neurocomputer EMIND-II. In addition, the computational complexities for the parallel and serial algorithms are compared. Finally, we introduce an application of this neurocomputer to word recognition.

  • This paper is aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of flexural toughness of slab panel structures($60{\times}60{\times}10$) reinforced by steel fiber instead of wire mesh. Steel fiber used in this study is double hooked Dramix type fiber. And the fiber length is 60mm, diameter is 0.8mm, Various assessment methods of toughness index are used to estimate the proper effectiveness. In this experimental study, we find that Johnston, JCI-SF4 and EFNARC method are more effective to assess the flexural toughness of slab panels than the others. And the steel fiber is very effective alternative material to reinforce slab panel structures instead of wire mesh. Fiber volume fraction of 0.5~0.75% is more useful than the others in enhancing the post-peak energy absorption and toughness index by Johnston's $I_{5.5}$ assessment method. And the slab panels reinforcing with steel fiber are more resistant to crack propagation than wire mesh reinforcing slabs.

  • Division of ecoregions having respective functions was attempted through quantitative and qualitative analysis on vegetation diversity, and heterogeneity and on soil environment of the study sites. Field research was carried out in a square of 81 ㎢ around Andongpo (126°38'E, 37°30'N), Kimpo-gun, Kyonggi provice. Conventional methods applied are as follows: classical syntaxonomy by the Zurich-Montpellier School, interpolation method to determine the degree of diversity, heterogeneity and distribution pattern of vegetation, and correlation analysis between soil properties and plant communities. 41 plant communities were identified and composed of 6 forests, 4 mantle and 31 herb communities including 6 saltmarsh plant communities. In a mesh, number of plant communities was highly correlated to the number of species. The highest number of plant community and species was 25 communities·km-2·mesh-1 and 381 species· km-2·mesh-1 ,and the highest value of vegetation heterogeneity was 28.1 species· community-1·mesh-1. Their lowest numbers were 4 communities·km-2·mesh-1. and 28 species·km-2·mesh-1. and 7 species·community-1·mesh-1, respectively. Contour map on vegetation diversity and heterogeneity enabled us to establish two regions; coastal and inland vegetation. Isoline 〔150〕,〔10〕and〔10〕and〔15〕on the species diversity, the community diversity and the vegetation heterogeneity, respectively, were regarded as ecolines in the study area. Cl- content was recognized as the most important factor from correlation analysis between soil properties. Ordination of sites indicated that the study area be divided into two edaphic types: inland and coastal habitats. It was considered that the extent of desalinization in soil played a major role in determining the species composition in the reclamed area. By matching edaphic division of habitats with division of vegetation structures, designation of ecoregion was endorsed. The approach of current study was suggested as an effective tool to implement an assessment of the vegetation dynamics by the disparity of natural environment and anthropogenic interferences.
