ATM 망에서의 ABR 다점 대 점 연결을 위한 효과적인 VPI/VCI 할당 알고리즘 (An Efficient VPI/VCI Allocation Algorithm for ABR Multipoint-to-point Connection in ATM Networks)

  • 본 논문에서는 ATM 망에서의 ABR 다점 대 점 연결을 위한 효과적인 VP 확장 알고리즘을 제안한다. ABR 다점 대 점 연결은 VC 머징 (VC merging) 방식 또는 VP 머징 (VP merging) 기법을 이용하여 구현할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 VP 머징 기법을 이용하며, VP 자원 부족 문제점을 해결하기 위해 VP 확장 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 기법은 표준 VPI/VCI 구조를 따르기 때문에 VP 확장에 따른 별도의 VPI/VCI 테이블을 필요로 하지 않는다. 성능 평가를 위해서 VC 머징 방식과 제안한 기법의 성능을 비교한다. 실험 결과 제안한 기법은 다점 대 점 연결의 각 소스에 대역폭을 공평히 분배할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

병렬평면제트의 유동특성 (Flow Characteristics of Parallel Plane Jets)

  • Experiments were conducted to show the characteristics of the flow on unventilated parallel plane jets. Measurements of mean velocity components and turbulent intensities were carried out with a particle image velocimetry. The measurements range of these experiments was Reynolds number of 5300 based on the nozzle width and the cases of nozzle-to-nozzle distance were 4, 6, 8, and 10 times the width of the nozzle. Results show that a recirculation zone with a sub-atmospheric static pressure was bounded by the inner shear layers of the individual jets and the nozzles plate. The positions, where maximum value of mean turbulent intensities and mean turbulent kinetic energy show, were at the same position with the merging point. The spread of jets in the merging region increases more rapidly than that of jets in the converging and the combined region. As nozzle-to-nozzle distances were increased, it was shown that merging and combined lengths were shorter.

  • This paper presents a vehicle control algorithm for Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system. PRT system is a one-way direction network system which is composed of guideway branches, merging/diverging points. Vehicle control algorithm can be divided into two kinds. Those are merging control algorithm and the other. We emphasized on the merging control algorithm. For that, we first devised a front/virtual front vehicle finding strategies. Properly determined front/virtual front vehicle is the starting point of vehicle control. The objects of merging control are to avoid collision and to pass the merging point fluently. Which implies that jerk constraint and limits of acceleration and deceleration etc. are should be considered. To verify the validation of the vehicle algorithm, we executed simulations and presented test results.

고속도로 연속 유입연결로 접속단간의 이격거리 설계기준에 관한 연구 (Design Guideline for Successive Entrance Ramp Spacing)

  • This study is to analyze speed variation at merging section of successive entrance ramp and to suggest design criterion of ramp spacing at successive entrance ramp in urban area. The major findings are as follows ; (1) The relationship between the speed at merging section of successive entrance ramp and the distance from the merging point represents concave curve. (2) The 85 percentile speed(S) at outside lane (lane 1) is modeled S = 49.5 + 355.7(D/Q) - 0.94(D2/Q) + 6.78(D/AL2) where, D = Distance from merging point(m), Q = Lane 1 volume(vph) AL2 = Acceleration length at second entrance ramp(m) (3) The more traffic volume and the shorter acceleration length of the second entrance ramp, longer ramp terminal spacing is needed.

A merging framework for improving field scale root-zone soil moisture measurement with Cosmic-ray neutron probe over Korean Peninsula

  • Characterization of reliable field-scale root-zone soil moisture (RZSM) variability contribute to effective hydro-meterological monitoring. Although a promising cosmic-ray neutron probe (CRNP) holds the pontential for field-scale RZSM measurement, it is often restricted at deeper depths due to the non-unique sensitivity of CRNP-measured fast neutron signal to other hydrogen pools. In this study, a merging framework relied on coupling cosmic-ray soil moisture with a representative additional RZSM, was introduced to scale shallower CRNP effective depth to represent root-zone layer. We tested our proposed framework over a densely vegetated region in South Korea covering a network of one CRNP and nine in-situ point measurements. In particular, cosmic-ray soil moisture and ancillary RZSM retrieved from the most time stable location were considered as input datasets; whereas the remaining point locations were used to generate a reference RZSM product. The errors between these two input datasets and the reference were forecasted by a linear autoregressive model. A linear combination of forecasts was then employed to compute a suitable weight for merging two input products from the predicted errors. The performance of merging framework was evaluated against reference RZSM in comparison to the two original products and a commonly used exponential filter technique. The results of this study showed that merging framework outperformed other products, demonstrating its robustness in improving field-scale RZSM. Moreover, a strong relationship between the quality of input data and the performance merging framework in light of CRNP effective depth variation has been also underlined via the merging framework.

  • 인터넷 트래픽의 급증이 한정된 대역폭의 효율적인 운용을 요구하게 되면서 광 네트워크를 기반으로 하는 여러 가지 기술들이 소개되었다. 기존의 파장 다중화 개념에 merging 기술을 접목시킴으로써 제한된 파장의 효율적인 운용은 물론 망의 확장성을 제공한다. 광 도메인에서의 파장 merging 기술은 광 소자의 제약으로 인해 직접 구현될 수 없기 때문에 전자적인 도메인에서 수행된다. Merging이 구현됨에 따라 OXC (Optical Cross Connection)에서의 지연 시간은 증가하지만 대용량의 대역폭을 지원하는 광 채널(요구파장)을 감소시키게 되어 폭주하는 트래픽 처리 측면에서 처리율의 향상을 기대할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 FEC merging 기능을 포함하는 이중 모듈구조인 OXC를 제안하였다. 최적의 merging 포인트 값은 시스템 성능 중 최대 값으로 산출하였으며 merging후의 결과 값은 모의 실험을 통해 확인하였다.

Correlation between galaxy mergers and AGN activity

  • Using deep images taken at Maidanak 1.5m telescope, at McDonald 2.1m telescope and Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope, Dupont 2.5m telescope we investigated the fraction of merging galaxies in hosts of 39 AGN which are brighter than M = -22 mag and nearer than z = 0.3. We found that 16 to 17 of 39 AGN host galaxies show the evidence of mergers like tidal tail, shell via careful visual inspection. We also studied with the merging fraction of a control sample, SDSS Stripe82 early type galaxies of which surface brightness limit and bulge magnitude are similar to that of the AGN sample. We found that merging fraction of the AGN sample is higher than that of early type galaxy samples in the whole range of bulge magnitude. This result implies that AGN activity may be correlated with merging. We also investigated the detailed morphology of merging feature. At least - 1/4 of control samples classified as a tidal and tidal+dust are shell structures. On the other hand only one (5.9%) of AGN sample classified as merger shows shell structures, and almost all merging AGNs show tidal tail features. From point of view that tidal tail may be at the early stage of merging, and shell may be at the late stage of mergers, this result suggests that AGN might be evolved into early-type galaxies after merging.

고속도로 합류부에서 운전자의 심리.생리적 작업 부하 연구 (Evaluation of Driver's Psychophysiological Load at Freeway Merging Area)

  • 본 연구에서는 고속도로의 기본구간과 비교해 볼 때, 고속도로 합류부에서의 운전자의 각성정도의 변화를 생리적 신호 중 후두엽부(Occipital Lobe)의 뇌파 중 $\beta$파를 측정하여 정량화하여 살펴보았다. 고속도로 기본구간 3지점과 합류부 구간 3지점에서 실험차량을 이용하여 남자 8명, 여자 2명, 총 10명의 피실험자를 대상으로 실험한 결과 고속도로 운전자는 합류부 구간(램프주행구간, 가속차로시점에서 합류직전 구간, 합류부 영향이 남아 있는 주행구간)에서 운전시 기본 주행구간에 비하여 가속차로 시점에서 합류 직전구간에서 2.21배로 가장 큰 각성정도를 보였다. 또한 고속도로 운전자는 합류를 완료한 후에 4초간 합류과정으로 인한 영향이 남아 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 특히 운전자들은 고어지점으로부터 80m구간이내에서 합류하는 것이 충분한 가속주행을 한 것보다 더 각성 정도를 보였다.
