An experimental multimodal system combining natural input modes such as speech, lip movement, and gaze is proposed in this paper. It benefits from novel human-compute. interaction (HCI) modalities and from multimodal integration for tackling the problem of the HCI bottleneck. This system allows the user to select menu items on the screen by employing speech recognition, lip reading, and gaze tracking components in parallel. Face tracking is a supplementary component to gaze tracking and lip movement analysis. These key components are reviewed and preliminary results are shown with multimodal integration and user testing on the prototype system. It is noteworthy that the system equipped with gaze tracking and lip reading is very effective in noisy environment, where the speech recognition rate is low, moreover, not stable. Our long term interest is to build a user interface embedded in a commercial car navigation system (CNS).

In this study, we analyzed the academic library websites in terms of information structure, navigation, and labeling system. The study showed that the information structure was linear. In analyzing 8 library sites, we found many common top-level categories but ultimately, the number of main menu ranged from 4 to 15 categories. Also, the results showed that the sites used a sub-domain such as mobile, or just m to keep it short. It seemed to keep the mobile site part of the library site without creating confusion. Finally, Labeling in some mobile sites was not clear and consistent.

This research aims to develop a voyage performance monitoring system based on international standards. The developed system is equipped with an electronic navigational chart(ENC) that provides onshore and offshore information, as well as supports standardized interfaces with navigational equipment, such as a gyro compass, a differential global positioning system(DGPS), and an automatic identification system(AIS), to monitor the navigation route in real time. In addition, the proposed system adopts a car navigation system to provide a graphical user interface, an intuitive menu-driven configuration, and an easy guide for safer sea navigation. The system, interfaced with the gyro compass and DGPS, was verified without any data loss, and passed a test conducted under extreme conditions by the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme(KOLAS). Finally, the system contributes to preventing collision of vessels and minimizing casualties by maximizing the convenience of mariners which a conventional system does not provide.

모바일폰의 컨버전스가 가속화됨에 따라 사용자가 습득해야 할 정보량이 증가하였고, 사용자들이 이를 이용하기 위하여 학습과 숙련의 과정을 거쳐야 하는 부담이 발생하게 되었다. 모바일폰의 주 사용자층인 20-40대 외에 10대와 50대 이상의 이동전화 이용률이 꾸준히 증가하여 실버폰과 키즈폰 시장이 형성될 조짐을 보이고 있지만, 제조사에서는 획일적인 인터페이스 디자인만을 제공하여 다양한 사용자 층의 요구와도 서로 맞지 않고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 모바일폰의 휴먼인터페이스 요소 중 메뉴요소에 해당하는 메인메뉴의 네비게이션 방식에 중점을 두어 각 사용자 유형별로 사용성을 측정하였다. 국내외 모바일폰 제조사에서 2006년 출시된 제품에서 메인메뉴 네비게이션 방식을 추출하여 8가지로 분류하였으며, 이를 토대로 플래시 기반의 시뮬레이터를 제작하여 사용성 측정에 이용하였다. 모바일 사용성 평가를 위한 요인을 중심으로 10대부터 60대 이상의 다양한 사용자를 대상으로 시뮬레이터 사용을 관찰하여 분석하였으며 또한 기존에 사용하고 있는 모바일폰 기종을 고려하여 설문지로 사용성에 대한 만족도를 평가하는 방식도 병행하였다. 본 연구에서는 사용자 유형별로 사용성이 높은 인터페이스를 선별하고 사용자의 개성과 선호도를 고려한 선택적인 UI 개발방향을 제안하였다.

본 논문에서는 화면들을 이동할 때 이용하는 경로인 메뉴 네비게이션을 설계하기 위하여 사회연결망분석 방법론을 이용하여 정보시스템의 웹 화면메뉴에 적용해 보았다. 사회연결망분석의 대표적인 지수인 연결중심성과 매개중심성 값을 이용하여 효과적으로 다른 웹 화면메뉴들로 이동이 가능하도록 하였으며, 그룹간의 영향력 높은 화면들을 도출하여 이의 활용에 대해 고찰하였다. 웹 화면의 정보이동을 효율적으로 가능하게 하는 메뉴 네비게이션 설계에 대한 연구를 통해 정보시스템을 전략적으로 활용 가능하게 함으로써 정보시스템의 효율을 증대 시킬 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

Since the VR market is expected to have a high growth, this study aimed to investigate the human factor-related determinants of user satisfaction with mobile VR headsets. A pre-study of customer reviews was conducted with the help of semantic network analysis to identify the core keywords for understanding negative and positive predictors of mobile VR headset experiences. Through laboratory testing with three different commercial models, the main study measured and identified the predictors of user satisfaction. From the results, five factors were extracted as valid predictor variables and used for regression analysis. These factors were immersion, VR sickness, usability, wear-ability and menu navigation interface. All the five predictors were proved to be significant determinants of the perceived user satisfaction with mobile VR headsets. Usability was the strongest predictor, followed by VR sickness and wear-ability. Practical and theoretical implications of the results were discussed.

최근 들어 휴대성을 강조한 휴대폰이나 PDA 같은 다양한 모바일 기기의 등장으로 언제 어디서나 원하는 정보를 탐색할 수 있게 되었으나 기기는 점점 작아지는 반면, 기능은 증가하고, 많은 기기들이 데스크톱 인터페이스를 그대로 차용하여 작은 모바일 기기에는 적합하지 않은 결과를 낳고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 청각 피드백을 이용한 공간정보 단서를 제공하여 작은 기기의 사용성을 높이는데 초점을 두고 있다. 이를 위하여, 실험 1에서는 두 가지 메뉴 구조에서 세 가지 청각 피드백의 영향을 조사하였는데, 격자메뉴와 한 줄 메뉴에서 각 청각피드백이 미치는 영향과 사용자의 선호도를 조사하였다. 실험 결과, 격자메뉴에서 수행이 좋았으나, 청각 피드백 유형별 수행 차이는 나타나지 않았고, 각 피드백에 대한 선호도에서도 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 실험 2에서는 실험 1에서 사용된 정보를 제공하는 청각적 피드백을 음 높이와 음의 개수 속성으로 세분화하여 PDA에서 메뉴 탐색 수행을 4블록으로 나누어 조사하도록 설계하였다. 실험 결과, 음 높이 속성만 갖는 피드백은 블록이 진행되면서 반응 시간에 있어서 피로도가 나타난 반면, 음 개수 속성만 갖는 피드백은 블록이 진행되어도 피로도가 나타나지 않았다. 한편, 두 속성을 모두 갖는 피드백은 블록이 진행되면서 보행 속도가 유의미하게 줄어드는 것을 발견하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 앞으로 유비쿼터스 환경에서 사용자에게 효율적인 청각 피드백을 통해 공간 정보를 제공함으로써 휴대기기의 사용성을 높일 수 있는 한 가지 가능성을 제시한다는 데 의의가 있다.

In the reality that the fishing population is decreasing and the single-man fishing vessels is increasing, mandatory equipment for navigation and radio equipments for the safety of fishing boats has continued to be added. Therefore, many equipment such as navigation, communication and fishing are installed in the narrow steering room, so it is very confusing and a number of monitors are placed in the front, which is a factor that degrades the function of maritime observation. To solve this problem, we studied an interface that integrates and operates to major radio facilities such as very high frequency-digital selective calling equipment (VHF-DSC), automatic identification system (AIS) and fishing boat location transmission device (V-pass) into one multi function display (MFD) based on LAN. In addition, IEC61162-450 UDP packets and IEC61162 sentence were applied to exchange data through link between MFD and radio equipments, and additional messages needed for each equipment and function were defined. The integrated MFD monitor is easily operated by the menu method, and the performance of the interface was evaluated by checking the distress and emergency communication functions related to maritime safety and the message transmission status by equipment.

This paper deals with interface design of a university webzines that to search through an internet portal site Naver. It was obtained the following conclusions. First, university webzines are using a hypertext link to such images, text, movie. Second, it could be seen that mainly been using block grid, the module grid, and a transformed layout of 2 tier grid. Third, Seoul woman's University, Kyungpook National University, and Korea Maritime University's webzines found that layout, color, user-friendly access the structure. Fourth, webzine was used the text or image a link, search function, site map, icon, favorites, quick menus, navigation bars, and rollover menu. Last, university webzines were shown to contribute mere to the enhancement of its value as a promotional medium.

The specific objectives of the study were as follows: 1) To investigate the composition system (design, usability and interactivity) of web sites of textile exchange of B to B 2) To examine and valuate contents and marketing (announcement, satisfaction and variety of contents) of web sites of textile exchange of B to B. The data were collected from search engine, portal sites of evaluation, direct contact, interview over the phone with web master of concerned web sites and the result of analytical valuation of web sites. The results of this study were as fellows: 1) The Dongsung trading intended to mainly use their homepage as a inside communication place by intranet network. The Daechang trading was mainly using their homepage as a tool of expansion of their outside export market. The etextiler was selling their web solutions through homepage. The texcom was offering the web place and useful informations to trading companies in Asia. 2) The texcom consisted text with little image to speed up for loading and navigation for usability of users. The Dongsung trading made intranet network for communication and exchange of informations of company inside. The etextiler offered a booking menu to inquiry in homepage. The Daechang trading tried to give good impression from the introduction page at homepage.
