This paper reviewed models to explain memory and neuropsychological tests to assess memory. Memory was explained in cognitive and neuroanatomical perspectives, Cognitive model describes memory as structure and process. In structure model, memory is divided into three systems: sensory memory, short-term memory(working memory), and long-term memory. In process model, there are broadly three categories of memory process: encoding, storage, and retrieval. Memory process work in memory structure. There are two prominent models of the neuroanatomy of memory, derived from the work of Mishkin and Appenzeller and that of Squire and Zola-Morgan. These two models are the most useful for the clinician in part because they take into account the connections between the limbic and frontal cortical regions. The major difference between the two models concerns the role of the amygdala in memory processess. Mishkin and his colleagues believe that the amygdala plays a significant role while Squire and his colleagues do not. The most popular and widely used tests of memory ability such as WMS-R, AVLT, CVLT, HVLT. RBMT, CFT, and BVRT-R, were reviewed.

The human being receives a new information from outside and the information shows gradual oblivion with time. But it remains in memory and isn't forgotten for a long time if the information is read several times over. For example, we assume that we memorize a telephone number when we listen and never remind we may forget it soon, but we commit to memory long time by repeating. If the human being received new information with strong stimulus, it could remain in memory without recalling repeatedly. The moments of almost losing one's life in on accident or getting a stroke of luck are rarely forgiven. The human being can keep memory for a long time in spite of the limit of memory for the mechanism mentioned above. In this paper, we will make a model explaining that mechanism using a neural network Adaptive Resonance Theory.
Time predictability is crucial in hard real-time and safety-critical systems. Cache memories, while useful for improving the average-case memory performance, are not time predictable, especially when they are shared in multicore processors. To achieve time predictability while minimizing the impact on performance, this paper explores several time-predictable scratch-pad memory (SPM) based architectures for multicore processors. To support these architectures, we propose the dynamic memory objects allocation based partition, the static allocation based partition, and the static allocation based priority L2 SPM strategy to retain the characteristic of time predictability while attempting to maximize the performance and energy efficiency. The SPM based multicore architectural design and the related allocation methods thus form a comprehensive solution to hard real-time multicore based computing. Our experimental results indicate the strengths and weaknesses of each proposed architecture and the allocation method, which offers interesting on-chip memory design options to enable multicore platforms for hard real-time systems.

Due to the recent advances in Phage-Change Memory (PCM) technologies, a new memory hierarchy of computer systems with PCM is expected to appear. In this paper, we present a new page replacement policy that adopts PCM as a high speed swap device. As PCM has limited write endurance, our goal is to minimize the amount of data written to PCM. To do so, we defer the eviction of dirty pages in proportion to their dirtiness. However, excessive preservation of dirty pages in memory may deteriorate the page fault rate, especially when the memory capacity is not enough to accommodate full working-set pages. Thus, our policy monitors the current working-set size of the system, and controls the deferring level of dirty pages not to degrade the system performances. Simulation experiments show that the proposed policy reduces the write traffic to PCM by 160% without performance degradations.
With the advent of the big data era, the memory capacity required for computing systems is rapidly increasing, especially in High Performance Computing systems. However, the number of DRAMs that can be used in a computing node is limited by the structural limitations of the hardware (for example, CPU specifications). Memory expansion technology has attracted attention as a means of overcoming this limitation. This technology expands the memory capacity by leveraging the external memory connected to the host system through hardware interface such as PCIe and CCIX. In this paper, we present an overview and describe the development trends of the memory expansion technology. We also provide detailed descriptions and use cases of the CCIX that provides higher bandwidth and lower latency than cases of the PCIe.
