Intravenous administration of L-tryptophan stimulates gastrointestinal hormones and melatonin secretions: study on beef cattle

  • This study aimed to determine the effective dose of intravenous administration of L-tryptophan (L-T) on gastrointestinal hormones (GIH) secretions and melatonin using Hanwoo cattle. Three steers ($362{\pm}23kg$) fitted with indwelling jugular vein catheters were assigned in a $3{\times}3$ Latin square design. Treatments were intravenous administration of saline (control), 28.9 mg L-T/kg body weight (BW; low) and 57.8 mg L-T/kg BW (high) L-T for 1 day with 7 days of adaptation. Samples were collected after adaptation period at -60, 0, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180, 240, and 300 min of sampling day. The levels of serum cholecystokinin (CCK) and secretin were higher (p < 0.05) in the high L-T group than those in the other groups. Serum Melatonin (MEL) levels were increased upon L-T administration (p < 0.05) in the high L-T group. Taken together, the effective dose of L-T administration was defined at 57.8 mg L-T/kg BW in order to stimulate increase of GIH and MEL.

합성곱 신경망과 장단기 메모리를 이용한 사격음 분석 기법 (Shooting sound analysis using convolutional neural networks and long short-term memory)

  • 본 논문은 딥러닝기법 중 하나인 합성곱 신경망과 순환 신경망 중 하나인 장단기 메모리를 이용하여 사격시 발생하는 소음(이하 사격음)만으로 화기의 종류, 사격음 발생지점에 관한 정보(거리와 방향)을 추정하는 모델을 다루었다. 이를 위해 미국 법무부 산하 연구소의 지원하에 생성된 Gunshot Audio Forensic Dataset을 이용하였으며, 음향신호를 멜 스펙트로그램(Mel-Spectrogram)으로 변환한 후, 4종의 합성곱 신경망과 1종의 장단기 메모리 레이어로 구성된 딥러닝 모델에 학습 및 검증 데이터로 제공하였다. 제안 모델의 성능을 확인하기 위해 합성곱 신경망으로만 구성된 대조 모델과 비교·분석하였으며, 제안 모델의 정확도가 90 % 이상으로 대조모델보다 우수한 성능을 보였다.

A New Sesquiterpene Hydroperoxide from the Aerial Parts of Aster oharai

  • Phytochemical works on the aerial parts of Aster oharai (Compositae) led to the isolation of a new sesquiterpene hydroperoxide, 7$\alpha$-hydroperoxy-3, 11-eudesmadiene (2) and seven known compounds, teucdiol B (1), $\alpha$-spinasterol (3), oleanolic acid (4), $\alpha$-spinasterol 3-Ο-$\beta$-D-glucopyranoside (5), methyl 3,5-di-Ο-caffeoyl quinate (6), 3,5-di-Ο-caffeoylquinic acid (7), 3,4-di-Ο-caffeoylquinic acid (8). The chemical structures of 1-8 were established by chemical and spectroscopic methods. Compound 2 showed cytotoxicity against cultured human tumor cell lines in vitro, SK-OV-3 (ovarian), SK-MEL-2 (skin melanoma), and HCT15 (colon) with $ED_{50}$ values ranging from 3.86-17.21 $\mu$g/mL.

  • This study was progressed for oriental medical care of neonates by fetal toxicosis removal therapy, and the results as follows: 1. The purpose of fetal toxicosis removal therapy : It removes dirty blood in neonatal mouth and prevents diseases. 2. Kinds of fetal toxicosis removal therapy : Radix Glycyrrhizae(甘草), Rhizoma Coptidis(黃連), Cinnabaris-Mel(朱蜜), Calculus Bovis(牛黃), Sojae Semen Praepartum, Juice of Semen Allii Tuberosi(非汁) and mercury(汞粉). 3. A period of fetal toxicosis removal therapy : At birth, 3rd day or so, one week or so, after umbilical omission. 4. Methods of fetal toxicosis removal therapy: Purgative therapy(下法) and Emetic therapy(吐法).

국내산 해면 Spirastrella abata로부터 Sterol Peroxide 유도체의 분리 (Sterol Peroxide Derivatives from the Marine Sponge Spirastrella abata)

  • Marine sponges are known to be a source of diverse sterols. In our study on the cytotoxic components of the marine sponge Spirastrella abata, $5{\alpha},8{\alpha}-epidioxy\;{\Delta}^6$ sterols (1-5) and $5{\alpha},8{\alpha}-epidioxy\;{\Delta}^{6,9(11)}$ sterols (6-7) were isolated. The structures were identified based on the analyses of $^1H-NMR,\;^{13)C-NMR$, and MS data. These compounds were assayed for cytotoxicity against 5 human solid tumor cell lines including A549, SK-OV- 3, SK-MEL-2, XF498, and HCT15.

  • Two cucurbitane-compounds were isolated from the roots of Bryonia alba L. and the chemical structures were established as 19-norlanost-5-ene-3,1l,22-trione-$2{\beta}$, $16{\alpha}$,$20{\beta}$,25-tetrahydroxy-9-methyl (23,24-dihydrocucurbitacin D) and 2-O-${\alpha}$-D-glucopyranosyl 19-norlanost-5-ene-3,11,22-trione-$2{\beta}$,$16{\alpha}$,$20{\beta}$,25-tetrahydroxy-9-methyl (arvenin IV), respectively, on the basis of chemical and spectral methods. Both of the compounds showed cytotoxic activity against cancer cell lines, A549, SK-MEL-2, COLO 205 and L1210.

개의 품종 분류를 위한 HMM 구조의 연구 (A Study on the HMM Structure for Classifying Dog Breeds)

  • 개의 발성은 성도의 물리적인 특징에 따라 고유의 특정 포먼트를 만들어 내며 개의 품종에 따라 다른 물리적 특징을 가지므로 개의 발성을 HMM(Hidden Markov Model)으로 모델링하여 개의 품종을 분류하는 연구를 하였다. 주파수 특징은 MFCC(Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients) 12차, 에너지 컴포넌트 1차, 델타 13차, 억셀러레이션(Acceleration) 13차, 총 39차 벡터를 사용하였다. 개의 품종 분류에 적합한 HMM 구조의 설계를 위하여 기본 좌우 모델, 좌우 모델, 좌우 모델2, 전후진 모델, 총 4가지를 제안하고 실험하여 성능을 비교분석하였다. 이 중 전후진 모델이 가장 바람직한 모델로 검증 되었다. 본 모델은 다음과 같은 장점을 갖는다. (1) 기본 좌우 모델과 마찬가지로 1~2회 발성을 갖는 데이터가 입력되어도 처음에서 마지막 상태까지의 이동단계가 최소 3번까지 가능하므로 적은 횟수의 발성 데이터도 처리가 가능하다. (2) 다수 반복된 발성 데이터의 신호도 처리가 가능하다. 즉, 본 모델은 상태의 이동이 후진도 가능하므로 5회이상 반복된 발성 데이터의 신호의 처리도 가능하다.

Mechanistic Aspects in the Grignard Coupling Reaction of Bis(chloromethyl)dimethylsilane with Trimethylchlorosilane

  • The Grignard reactions of bis(chloromethyl)dimethylsilane (1) with trimethylchlorosilane (2) in THF give both the intermolecular C-Si coupling and intramolecular C-C coupling products. At beginning stage, 1 reacts with Mg to give the mono-Grignard reagent ClCH2Me2SiCH2MgCl (1) which undergoes the C-Si coupling reaction to give MC2Si(CH2SiMe3)2 3, or C-C coupling to a mixture of formula Me3SiCH2(SiMe2CH2CH2)nR1 (n = 1, 2, 3, ..; 4a, R1I = H: 4b, R1 = SiMe3). In the reaction, two reaction pathways are involved: a) Ⅰ reacts with 2 to give Me3SiCH2SiMe2CH2Cl 6 which further reacts with Mg to afford a Me2SiCH2Mel-SiCH2MgCl (Ⅱ) or b) I cyclizes intramolecularly to a silacyclopropane intermediate A, which undergoes a ring-opening polymerization by the nucleophilic attack of the intermediates I or Ⅱ, followed by the termination reaction with H2O and 2, to give 4a and 4b, respectively. As the mole ratio of 2/1 increased from 2 to 16 folds, the formation of product 3 increased from 16% to 47% while the formation of polymeric products 4 was reduced from 60% to 40%. The intermolecular C-Si coupling reaction of the pathway a becomes more favorable than the intramolecular C-C coupling reaction of the pathways b at the higher mole ratio of 2/1.

Feature Extraction Based on Speech Attractors in the Reconstructed Phase Space for Automatic Speech Recognition Systems

  • In this paper, a feature extraction (FE) method is proposed that is comparable to the traditional FE methods used in automatic speech recognition systems. Unlike the conventional spectral-based FE methods, the proposed method evaluates the similarities between an embedded speech signal and a set of predefined speech attractor models in the reconstructed phase space (RPS) domain. In the first step, a set of Gaussian mixture models is trained to represent the speech attractors in the RPS. Next, for a new input speech frame, a posterior-probability-based feature vector is evaluated, which represents the similarity between the embedded frame and the learned speech attractors. We conduct experiments for a speech recognition task utilizing a toolkit based on hidden Markov models, over FARSDAT, a well-known Persian speech corpus. Through the proposed FE method, we gain 3.11% absolute phoneme error rate improvement in comparison to the baseline system, which exploits the mel-frequency cepstral coefficient FE method.

  • This paper presents a method for classification of underwater transient signals using, which employs a binary image pattern of the mel-frequency cepstral coefficients(MFCC) as a feature vector and a neural network as a classifier. A feature vector is obtained by taking DCT and 1-bit quantization for the square matrix of the MFCC sequences. The classifier is a feed-forward neural network having one hidden layer and one output layer, and a back propagation algorithm is used to update the weighting vector of each layer. Experimental results with some underwater transient signals demonstrate that the proposed method is very promising for classification of underwater transient signals.
