A study of Analysis and Review of Cargo Urban Railway Stations of Korea for Underground Logistics Systems

  • Recently, as mega-urbanization progresses, urban logistics centered on large cities is growing rapidly, and logistics transportation is increasing due to the lack of logistics infrastructure and the operation of a delivery system using cargo trucks in the city center. being cited as a cause. In order to solve this problem, domestic researchers are conducting research on the development of " Urban Underground railway Logistics System" that minimizes the initial infrastructure construction cost by utilizing the existing urban railway facilities in the city. Therefore, this paper analyzed the usage environment of the actual urban railway station to which the system will be applied in order to derive candidates for the test bed selection of "Urban Underground railway Logistics System". The evaluation criteria for test bed candidate role selection were established, and the candidate group derived from the Brown & Gibson model was used to evaluate the candidate group and derive the candidate role. A review of the results was conducted to contribute to the establishment of a test bed for the " Urban Underground railway Logistics System" under development.

In silico detection and characterization of novel virulence proteins of the emerging poultry pathogen Gallibacterium anatis

  • The pathogen Gallibacterium anatis has caused heavy economic losses for commercial poultry farms around the world. However, despite its importance, the functions of its hypothetical proteins (HPs) have been poorly characterized. The present study analyzed the functions and structures of HPs obtained from Gallibacterium anatis (NCTC11413) using various bioinformatics tools. Initially, all the functions of HPs were predicted using the VICMpred tool, and the physicochemical properties of the identified virulence proteins were then analyzed using Expasy's ProtParam server. A virulence protein (WP_013745346.1) that can act as a potential drug target was further analyzed for its secondary structure, followed by homology modeling and three-dimensional (3D) structure determination using the Swiss-Model and Phyre2 servers. The quality assessment and validation of the 3D model were conducted using ERRAT, Verify3D, and PROCHECK programs. The functional and phylogenetic analysis was conducted using ProFunc, STRING, KEGG servers, and MEGA software. The bioinformatics analysis revealed 201 HPs related to cellular processes (n = 119), metabolism (n = 61), virulence (n = 11), and information/storage molecules (n = 10). Among the virulence proteins, three were detected as drug targets and six as vaccine targets. The characterized virulence protein WP_013745346.1 is proven to be stable, a drug target, and an enzyme related to the citrate cycle in the present pathogen. This enzyme was also found to facilitate other metabolic pathways, the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites, and the biosynthesis of amino acids.

Lessons learned from Multinational Parties Involved Program Management Consortiums in Korea

  • This study explores the issue of program management consortia involving multinational participants. The aim of this research was to leverage advantages in program management (PM) skills and PM model improvement in product line construction in mega scale construction programs, typically funded by public funds. Such ventures involve multinational parties using dedicated partnering based on a program management consortium (PMC) to reduce confrontation between parties in complex circumstances, allowing an open and non-adversarial approach to project management. This research also seeks to implement an ongoing feedback program of best practices and lessons learned to minimize the repetition of mistakes and to reduce costs in sequenced construction. Recently, the Korean government has planned to undertake three large new projects: the Korean Peninsula major river maintenance, the reclamation of Se-Mangum, and the Science/Business City. This paper starts by providing a framework for the cost-reduction strategy for the United States Forces Korea (USFK) Relocation Program, which will be funded with public funds and a private fund investment (PFI) that combines programs executed by two governments as owners and multinational stakeholders, joined in the PMC. The establishment of project-oriented consortia is an innovative and non-adversarial approach to massive international construction projects. Such projects have used various tools effectively and skillfully. This experience may offer an opportunity to practice new and advanced program management delivery methods, and it is expected that Korea will gain a competitive advantage in the international construction market.

세계물류환경변화에 따른 대상항만의 경쟁력평가분석 (The Evaluation Analysis of Competitiveness among Target Ports with Environmental Changes of Global Logistics)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify and evaluate the competitiveness of ports in ASEAN(Association of Southeast Asian Nations), which plays a leading role in basing the hub of global logistics strategies as a countermeasure in changes of logistics environments. This region represents most severe competition among Mega Hub ports in the world in terms of container cargo throughput at the onset of the 21st century. The research method in this study accounted for overlapping between attributes, and introduced the HFP method that can perform mathematical operations. The scope of this study was strictly confined to the ports of ASEAN, which cover the top 100 of 350 container ports that were presented in Containerization International Yearbook 2002 with reference to container throughput. The results of this study show Singapore in the number one position. Even when we compare with major ports in Korea (after getting comparative ratings and applying the same data and evaluation structure), the number one position still goes to Singapore and then Busan(2) and Manila(2), followed by Port Klang(4), Tanjung Priok(5), Tanjung Perak(6), Bangkok(7), Inchon(8), Laem Chabang(9) and Penang(9). In terms of the main contributions of this study, it is the first empirical study to apply the combined attributes of detailed and representative attributes into the advanced HFP model which was enhanced by the KJ method to evaluate the port competitiveness in ASEAN. Up-to-now, none has comprehensively conducted researches with sophisticated port methodology that has discussed a variety of changes in port development and terminal transfers of major shipping lines in the region. Moreover, through the comparative evaluation among major ports in Korea and ASEAN, the presentation of comparative competitiveness for Korean ports is a great achievement in this study. In order to reinforce this study, it needs further compensative research, including cost factors which could not be applied to modeling the subject ports by lack of consistently quantified data in ASEAN.

환경친화적 도시 조성을 위한 정책평가체계에 관한 연구 - 저부하형 도시 조성을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Policies Evaluation Framework for Environmentally Friendly City)

  • In terms of climate change communities have only during the 1990s begun to recognize that all greenhouse gas(GHG) emissions are directly or indirectly generated locally, through acts of agency, production or consumption. This has provided a boost to the role of local places in the debate since GHGs can be allocated and made understood locally and hence form the basis for specific policies, programs, plans and projects. The objectives of this study are to define a framework for making Environmentally Friendly City through enhancing integrated energy-urban policies and present framework to do comprehensive evaluation on energy related policies response and also explore the interrelation between energy related activities in each sector and policy and applies to Seoul mega city in Korea. Despite the growing recognition of the seriousness of urban environmental problems and their contribution to global environmental and social concerns, most analysts continue to study cities in parts rather than as a whole; we study sectoral sub-systems such as transport, air pollution or energy. While specialization is useful for detailed thinking, we also need to see each issue in the context of how each city works environmentally, economically, socially and politically. We therefore need integrative approaches to study of cities and need to understand how they function as systems. These framework presented in this study allows an organized and systematic analysis. These research results can provide useful, credible and timely input into the urban planning process. This study will be a helpful exercise to draw some policy implications of other cities in Korea and also East Asia that are in a similar stage with the these cities and developing plans on how to address them.

무선조정 헬리콥터 사진측량시스템을 이용한 수치표고모형 작성 (Process of Digital Elevation Model Using RC Helicopter Surveying System)

  • 본 연구는 무선조정 헬리콥터에 1000만 화소 카메라인 비측량용 카메라를 장착하였다. 그리고 상공에서 촬영되는 영상을 지상에서 제어하면서 중복도를 고려하여 촬영하였다. 획득된 영상으로부터 영상정합에 의해 불규칙 삼각망을 추출하여 수치표고모형(DEM)을 나타낼 수가 있었으며, 재래적인 측량방식인 Total Station에 의해 관측된 기준점 및 검사점과의 정확도를 비교 검토한 결과 X방향으로는 $-0.194{\sim}0.224m$, Y축으로는 $-0.088{\sim}0.180m$, Z축으로는 $-0.286{\sim}0.285m$ 정도의 오차를 얻을 수 있었다. 또한, 검사점에 대한 오차의 RMSE를 표현하면, X축 방향으로 0.021388m, Y축 방향으로 0.015285m, Z축 방향으로 0.041872m로 나타났다. 이러한 사진촬영 및 분석방법으로 기존의 Total Station 측량방법보다 더 많은 지형표고자료를 취득하는데 좋은 방법이라 판단된다.

Genetic diversity of Indonesian cattle breeds based on microsatellite markers

  • Objective: This research was conducted to study the genetic diversity in several Indonesian cattle breeds using microsatellite markers to classify the Indonesian cattle breeds. Methods: A total of 229 DNA samples from of 10 cattle breeds were used in this study. The polymerase chain reaction process was conducted using 12 labeled primers. The size of allele was generated using the multiplex DNA fragment analysis. The POPGEN and CERVUS programs were used to obtain the observed number of alleles, effective number of alleles, observed heterozygosity value, expected heterozygosity value, allele frequency, genetic differentiation, the global heterozygote deficit among breeds, and the heterozygote deficit within the breed, gene flow, Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, and polymorphism information content values. The MEGA program was used to generate a dendrogram that illustrates the relationship among cattle population. Bayesian clustering assignments were analyzed using STRUCTURE program. The GENETIX program was used to perform the correspondence factorial analysis (CFA). The GENALEX program was used to perform the principal coordinates analysis (PCoA) and analysis of molecular variance. The principal component analysis (PCA) was performed using adegenet package of R program. Results: A total of 862 alleles were detected in this study. The INRA23 allele 205 is a specific allele candidate for the Sumba Ongole cattle, while the allele 219 is a specific allele candidate for Ongole Grade. This study revealed a very close genetic relationship between the Ongole Grade and Sumba Ongole cattle and between the Madura and Pasundan cattle. The results from the CFA, PCoA, and PCA analysis in this study provide scientific evidence regarding the genetic relationship between Banteng and Bali cattle. According to the genetic relationship, the Pesisir cattle were classified as Bos indicus cattle. Conclusion: All identified alleles in this study were able to classify the cattle population into three clusters i.e. Bos taurus cluster (Simmental Purebred, Simmental Crossbred, and Holstein Friesian cattle); Bos indicus cluster (Sumba Ongole, Ongole Grade, Madura, Pasundan, and Pesisir cattle); and Bos javanicus cluster (Banteng and Bali cattle).

기내인터넷 이용자의 이용속성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Attitude toward In-flight Internet Usage)

  • 1990년대 하반기 이후 고유가와 지속적인 세계 경기침체에 이어 2000년대 초반 이후 9.11 테로와 이라크전을 거치면서 침체되었던 항공운송산업은 2004년 하반기부터 점차 회복세를 보이고 있다. 이에 따라 항공운송산업의 수요는 점차 증가하고 있으며, 항공사의 대고객서비스 투자 또한 더욱 더 증가하는 추세에 있다. 최근들어 전세계적으로 선두 그룹에 속해있는 몇몇 대형항공사들이 기내인터넷 상용화 서비스를 개시하였으며, 국내 항공사들도 글로벌 경쟁에서 뒤처지지 않기 위해 기내인터넷 서비스 제공을 개시하였다. 항공기내에서 인터넷이 상용화되기 시작하면서 기업입장에서 수익에 근거한 수요조사와 같은 연구가 진행되었으나 사용자 입장에서의 연구가 이루어지지 못하고 있다. 본 연구는 DEA와 컨조인트 분석을 결합한 모형을 이용하여 항공기에 새롭게 도입되는 기내인터넷 서비스에 대해 이용자가 중요하게 고려하는 속성과 그 선호도를 파악하였다. 기내인터넷 서비스에 대한 속성별 상대적 중요도를 추정한 결과 소비자들은 전송속도, 정보접근성, 컨텐츠 품질, 요금제 순으로 중요하게 고려하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 소비자들이 기내인터넷을 이용하고자 하는 속성을 추출하고, 각 속성의 중요도 및 속성수준의 부분가치, 최선의 대안을 탐색함으로써 기업이 기존에 설계하고 있는 기내인터넷의 전략적 접근 방안에 대한 시사점을 제시하였다.

Event Intervention이 일본, 중국 항공수요에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Air Travel Demand Forecasting using ARIMA-Intervention Model)

  • The purpose of this study is to anticipate the air travel demands over the period of 164 months, from January 1997 to August 2010 using ARIMA-Intervention modeling on the selected sample data. The sample data is composed of the number of the passengers who in the domestic route for Jeju route. In the analysis work of this study, the past events which are assumed to have affected the demands for the air travel routes to Jeju in different periods were used as the intervention variables. The impacts of such variables were reflected in the presupposed demand. The intervention variables used in this study are, respectively, the World Cup event in 2002 (from May to June), 2003 SARS outbreak (from April to May), Tsunami in January 2005, and the influenza outbreak from October to December 2009. The result of the above mentioned analysis revealed that the negative intervention events, like a global outbreak of an epidemic did have negative impact on the air travel demands in a risk aversion by the users of the aviation services. However, in case of the negative intervention events in limited area, where there are possible substituting destinations for the tourists, the impact was positive in terms of the air travel demands for substituting destinations due to the rational expectation of the users as they searched for other options. Also in this study, it was discovered that there is not a binding correlation between a nation wide mega-event, such as the World Cup games in 2002, and the increased air travel demands over a short-term period.

고령화연구패널조사의 국제비교연구 활용 가능성 (Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing: Research Design for International Comparative Studies)

  • 2006년에 제1차 본조사에 들어간 '고령화연구패널조사(KLoSA)'는 HRS(미국), SHARE(유럽), ELSA(영국) 등과 연구네트워크를 구축하여 데이터베이스 사업과 공동연구를 추진하고 있다. '고령화연구패널조사'는 국가간 비교연구가 가능한 자료를 생산하기 위해서 다음 세 가지 조건을 고려하여 설계되었다. 첫째, 가족, 건강, 고용, 소득, 자산, 주관적 기대감 등 비교대상으로 삼은 조사들의 핵심적인 주제와 주요 조사영역을 일치시켰다. 둘째, 주요영역의 세부 항목은 우리나라의 제도적, 문화적 차이를 반영하도록 설계하였다. 우리나라의 공적연금과 의료보장제도의 특성 등 제도적 특성을 반영하여 설문을 구성하였으며, 고용상의 관행이나 금융상품의 범위도 고려하였다. 또한 문화적 차이에서 발생하는 가족간의 경제적 지원양태의 특징이나 재산관리상의 특성을 반영하도록 설문을 구성하였다. 마지막으로 척도의 선정에 있어서도 우리나라 고령자들에게 정확하게 의미가 전달할 수 있으면서도 국가간 비교연구도 가능한 방식의 척도를 개발하기 위하여 노력하였다.
