명상기반 중재의 보조도구로서 명상어플리케이션 개발 (Development of a Meditation Application as an Assistance Tool for Meditation-Based Interventions)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 명상기반 중재 프로그램에서 자가수련을 촉진하기 위한 명상어플리케이션을 개발하고 그 효과를 검증하려는 것이다. 명상기반 중재 프로그램들은 대체로 자가수련을 강조하는데, 자가수련의 동기를 높이고 자가수련을 더 할 수 있도록 하는 것은 중요한 문제이다. A 대학 교양강좌에 참여한 대학생들을 대상으로 8주간 한국형 마음챙김기반 스트레스 감소(K-MBSR) 프로그램을 실시하였다. 실험집단(N = 22)은 명상어플리케이션을 제공하고 비교집단(N = 19)은 명상어플리케이션을 제공하지 않았다. 자가수련량은 참여자들이 기록한 수련일지를 토대로 수련시간을 계산하였다. 집단 간 심리적 효과의 차이를 확인하기 위해 마음챙김, 신체자각의 하위요인(감각자각, 감각복귀), 삶의 만족, 수용행동, 수면의 질을 사전과 사후에 측정하였다. 자가수련량은 실험집단이 비교집단에 비해 유의하게 더 많았다. 명상 효과는 실험집단이 비교집단에 비해 마음챙김, 신체자각, 삶의 만족, 수용행동, 수면의 질에서 더 높았다. 본 연구의 결과는 명상어플리케이션이 명상기반 중재 프로그램의 효과를 증진하는 보조수단으로서 유용함을 입증하는 것이다. 향후 연구를 위한 제언을 논의하였다.

명상관련 논문의 연구동향 분석 (An Analysis of Research Trends on Meditation)

  • This study was done to analyze research trends and to suggest future perspectives for nursing research on meditation. The author reviewed 41 foreign research papers which had been published in the Journal of Consulting & Clinical Psychology(JCC) between 1966 and 1986, The Journal of Transpersonal Psychology(JTP) between 1967 and 1987, and The Journal of Counseling Psychology (JCP) between 1965 and 1994. The analysis of the studies focused on the concept of meditation, the type of study design, type of research subjects, type of meditation, the results of study, and the applied type of counseling and psychotherapy. The results of the study are summarized as follows : (1) When the study designs were analyzed six categories were identified (Literature reviews, Experiments, Surveys, Comparative study, Qualitative study, Others), and the majority of the studies were found to be Literature reviews (36.6%), or Experimental studies(39%), The number of studies on meditation has increased since the 1970's. (2) Most studies approached meditation with Zen and Yoga(72.5%) which were called concepts of Indian meditation from 1970's to the later of 1980's. TM(Transcendental Meditation) was used in the 1970's. (3) On the type of meditation, most studies used Zen meditation which was called a method of Buddhistic meditation(43.9%). (4) On the studies of meditation effect, most were about psychological changes(48.5%), and psychological changes and physiological changes(37.1%). (5) On the types of the study subjects it was found that 15 studies dealt with literature, nine studies investigated college students, and eight studies investigated the meditator. (6) Most of study showed the results of the meditation effect to be positive (80%). On the basis of the above findings the following recommendations are made : (1) It's necessary to do a reliable and variable analysis of research trends on meditation. (2) There is a need to study the effects of meditation in order to clarify meditation application in counseling.

마음챙김 명상프로그램이 간호대학생의 스트레스 지각, 우울 및 자아효능감에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of Mindfulness Meditation Programs on Nursing College Students' Perceived Stress, Depression, and Self-efficacy)

  • Purpose: Due to the academic demands from a theory and practice-based educational program, nursing students often experience psychological burdens. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of mindfulness meditation programs on nursing students' perceived stress, depression, and self-efficacy. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. Participants were recruited from two nursing colleges. The sample consisted of an intervention group (n=29) that participated in a mindfulness meditation program and a control group (n=30). The experimental group participated in the program for 120 minutes a week for a total of 8 sessions. The data were collected prior and after the intervention using self-administered questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, $X^2$-test, Fisher's exact probability test, and the t-test. Results: After the application of the mindfulness meditation program, the experimental group showed a significant difference in perceived stress(t=-10.33, p<.001), depression (t=-2.17, p=.035), and self-efficacy (t=2.57, p=.013) scores. However, there was no significant differrence in the control group. Conclusion: These findings provide a supportive evidence of mindfulness meditation program as a behavioral intervention to reduce stress, depression and increase self-efficacy among nursing students.

In-Depth Relationships between Emotional Intelligence and Personality Traits in Meditation Practitioners

  • Objective: Meditation can elicit trait-like changes in psychological and social styles, as well as enhancement of emotional regulatory capacity. We investigated the relation between personality traits and emotional intelligence in meditation practitioners. Methods: Seventy-two long-term practitioners of mind-body training (MBT) and 62 healthy comparative individuals participated in the study. The participants completed emotional intelligence questionnaires and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Results: The MBT group revealed higher scores on all five emotional intelligence factors than did those in the control group, such as emotional awareness and expression, empathy, emotional thinking, emotional application, and emotional regulation (all $p{\leq}0.001$). MBT practitioners also had higher scores on the intuition of perceiving function (t=-2.635, p=0.010) and on the feeling of the judging function (t=-3.340, p=0.001) of the MBTI compared with those in the control group. Only the MBT group showed a robust relationship with every factor of emotional intelligence and MBTI-defined intuitive styles, indicating that higher scores of emotional intelligence were related to higher scores for intuition. Conclusion: Emotional intelligence of meditation practitioners showed notable relationships with some features of personality trait. In-depth associations between emotional intelligence and personality traits would help to foster psychological functions in meditation practitioners.

마음챙김명상과 불면증 (Mindfulness-Based Therapy for Insomnia)

  • Sleep disturbance is a common health complaint affecting an estimated 10-25% of the general population. Pharmacotherapy is a traditional treatment and cognitive behavioral therapy is well demonstrated as an efficacious treatment for insomnia. There is a growing interest in the effectiveness of mindfulness meditation for sleep disturbed populations. Mindfulness involves focused, purposeful, nonjudgmental attention to a particular idea. In clinical application of mindfulness practice, mindfulness-based stress reduction and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy are used widely. Clinical trials support the effectiveness of meditation for the treatment of insomnia. The aim of this article is to review the effect of mindfulness meditation on insomnia.

마음챙김 명상관련 국내 임상연구 동향 분석 (Clinical Research Trends on Mindfulness Meditation in Korea)

  • Background : Meditation is one of the healing therapies used to prevent and cure ailments and to improve health through regular practice. Although Meditation is within the paradigm of modern Western medical science, effects on the human body could be possible. Objectives : This study performed a systematic review of the literature published in Korea focused on mindfulness meditation (MM), which is being applied as mind-body therapy around the USA lately. Method : Three hundred sixty six articles were found after searching with keyword, 'mindfulness meditation (MM)' in 6 journals and web databases. Ninety papers related MM were analyzed trend, Seventeen randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and 38 controlled clinical trials (CCTs) were researched by systematic review. Result : Most of them were studies about relationship between MM and syndrome such as stress, depression, anxiety and MM was also applied to some disease like hypertension, temporomandibular joint disorder in some cases. In 55 studies, It was shown that MM has positive effects on various symptoms and sometimes the effect of MM showed at post and follow-up study although there was no significant difference between control group and experimental group in some cases according to outcome measurement. Interestingly, there was no study reported about side effects of MM after the application. Conclusions : MM is being clinically applied at both western and oriental hospital in Korea, but more clinical trials with the high quality are needed to support its scientific basis.

Mindfulness Meditation Combined with Digital Health for Medical Personnel at a Korean Medicine Hospital in South Korea: A Case Series

  • Objectives: Medical personnel are professionals subject to stressful situations and psychological distress. This case series reports the results of a mindfulness meditation program combined with digital health for medical personnel at a Korean medicine (KM) hospital. Methods: An online mindfulness program was implemented in 2022 to improve the mental health of nursing staff in a KM clinic. The online mindfulness program, which was supplemented based on previous results and limitations, was applied to KM doctors and nurses working at a KM hospital in this case series. An important difference from the existing case series was the introduction of a smartphone application that promoted the daily routine of meditation. A total of 7 medical personnel, including 4 doctors and 3 nurses, participated in the program. Results: After participating in the program, an increase in deep acting and a decrease in surface acting, which are aspects of emotional labor, were consistent with the results of a previous case series. However, the patterns of change in burnout and hwa-byung symptoms differed depending on the occupation of the participants. Participants' satisfaction with this program and the smartphone application and willingness to recommend it to colleagues were high. Conclusions: As this study was only a small case series, the author plans to continue to expand and improve the program based on the findings.

마음수련명상의 지속기간에 따른 정신건강의 효과 (Effects of Maum Meditation Training on Mental Health according to the Length of the Training Period)

  • 본 연구는 마음수련명상의 지속기간에 따른 정신건강의 차이를 비교분석하기 위한 것이다. 단기집중 마음수련명상의 효과를 파악하기 위한 단일군 전후 원시실험연구와 지속적 마음수련명상의 효과를 파악하기 위한 서술적 조사연구로 구성된다. 자료 수집 및 대상은 단기집중 마음수련명상군의 경우 2011년 7월 23일부터 7월 30일, 2012년 1월 7일부터 1월 14일에 마음수련명상 프로그램에 참여한 교사들 75명을 대상으로 프로그램 실시 전후에 구조화된 설문지를 이용하여 자료 수집을 하였고, 지속적 마음수련명상군의 경우 2012년 2월 현재 마음수련명상을 1년 이상 지속한 교사들 101명을 대상으로 2012년 2월 15일에서 2월 28일까지 자료 수집을 하였다. 자료 분석은 SPSS WIN 14.0를 이용하였으며 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 단기집중 마음수련명상군의 경우 마음수련명상 전후에 정신건강의 모든 하위영역(신체화, 강박증, 대인예민성, 우울, 불안, 적대감, 공포불안, 편집증, 정신증)에서 유의한 차이가 있었다. 지속적 마음수련명상군의 지속기간에 따른 정신건강 정도는 편집증을 제외한 8개 영역(신체화, 강박증, 대인예민성, 우울, 불안, 적대감, 공포불안, 정신증)에서 모두 유의한 차이를 보였다. 결론적으로 마음수련명상이 단기적, 지속적 중재 모두에 효과가 있는 것으로 보아 임상에서의 단기적용과 스트레스 대처능력을 기르기 위한 지속적인 프로그램으로서 개발과 적용이 필요하다.

사물인터넷 기반의 집중도 및 명상도 검출을 통한 ASMR 콘텐츠 제어 기법 (A Control Method of ASMR Contents through Attention and Meditation Detection Based on Internet of Things)

  • 본 논문에서는 사용자의 스트레스 해소와 주의력 향상에 도움이 될 수 있는 ASMR(autonomous sensory meridian response) 콘텐츠 제어 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법은 뇌파 측정 디바이스로부터 EEG(electroencephalography), 집중도, 명상도, 눈 깜빡임 데이터를 측정하고 안드로이드 IoT(internet of things) 앱을 통해 oneM2M 표준을 준용한 IoT 서버 플랫폼으로 전송한다. 서버 플랫폼에 수집된 EEG, 집중도 및 명상도 데이터를 사용하여 사용자의 정신건강상태를 분류하기 위한 SVM(support vector machine) 모델을 생성하고, 이 모델을 통해 분류된 사용자의 정신건강상태와 눈 깜빡임 데이터에 따라 ASMR 콘텐츠를 제어한다. 데이터 사용형태에 따라 SVM 모델을 비교한 결과, 집중도와 명상도 데이터를 사용하는 SVM 모델이 85.7%의 정확도를 나타내었고 이 SVM 모델이 분류한 정신건강상태와 눈 깜빡임 데이터의 변화에 따라 ASMR 콘텐츠 제어 알고리즘이 정상적으로 동작하는 것을 확인하였다.

마음챙김기반 자비명상프로그램이 배우자 상실을 경험한 여성노인의 뇌 활성과 스트레스에 미치는 영향 분석 (Analysis on the Influence of Mindfulness Based Compassion Meditation Program for Elderly Women's Brain Activation and Stress, Who Experienced Loss of Spouse)

  • 본 연구는 마음챙김기반 자비명상프로그램이 배우자를 상실한 여성노인의 뇌 활성과 스트레스에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위하여 2 channel EEG(Electroencephalogram)를 통해 검증하였다. 실험대상은 Y군 소재 65세~75세의 여성노인 60명으로, 30명은 실험집단으로, 30명은 통제집단으로 선정하였다. 연구기간은 2015년 8월에서 2015년 11월까지 매주 1회기씩, 회기 당 60분씩, 총 16회기로 프로그램을 실시하였다. 프로그램은 몸과 마음을 연결해서 통합적으로 치유할 수 있도록 하는 마음챙김과 자기 자신을 향한 사랑, 연민과 자비심 계발을 위한 자비명상을 접목하여 마음챙김기반 자비명상프로그램을 개발한 것이다. 실험결과, 실험집단에서 활성지수 우뇌 사전/사후(82.51/85.83, p<.013)의 변화를 보였으며(유의수준 p=.05). 항스트레스지수는 좌뇌(74.71/71.17, p<.050)로 나타났다. 활성지수는 뇌의 정신적 활동과 행동성향을 판단할 수 있는 지표이고, 항 스트레스지수는 육체적, 정신적 스트레스를 나타내는 지수이다. 본 연구는 마음챙김기반 자비명상프로그램이 배우자 상실을 경험한 여성 노인의 뇌 활성과 스트레스를 향상시킬 수 있는 방법으로서 효용과 가치가 있다는 것을 뇌과학적으로 분석한 것에 의의가 있다.
