Purpose : This study was carried out to identified the effects of Cultivated Wild Ginseng Pharmacopuncture(CWG Pharmacopuncture) to the rats with surgically induced endometriosis. Methods : Endometrial tissue was implanted in the serosal wall of the small intestine in rats. The rats were divided randomly into an experimental and control group. The experimental group was treated with CWG Pharmacopuncture intravenous injection to the vein of tail and the control group was given same dose of normal saline for 4 weeks. And the size of the ectopic uterine tissue was estimated, and the serum progesterone, estradiol and cytokine($TNF-{\alpha}$, IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, IL-10) concentrations were analyzed. Results : 1. The size of the ectopic uterine implants in the experimental group was much smaller than that in the control group. 2. In analysis of serum hormone, the concentration of progesterone showed higher value than that of control group and estradiol showed lower value. 3. In analysis of cytokine, $TNF-{\alpha}$, IL-2 and IL-6 concentrations showed lower value than that of control group. 4. In analysis of cytokine, IL-4 concentration showed no significant difference and IL-10 concentrations showed higher value than that of control group. Conclusion : These results indicated that CWG Pharmacopuncture is useful treatment for endometriosis.
The goal of quality assurance (QA) is to minimize systematic errors in order to maintain the quality of a certain process. Statistical process control (SPC) has been utilized for QA in radiation therapy field since 2005 and is changing QA paradigm. Its purpose is to maintain a process within the given control limits while monitoring of error trends such as variation or dispersion. SPC can be applied to all QA aspects of radiotherapy; however, a medical physicist should have enough knowledge about the application of SPC to QC/QA procedures. In this paper, the author introduce a concept of SPC and review some previously reported studies those used SPC for QA in radiation therapy.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Kamisamchulsamja-tang (KSST) water extract on the antitumor activity. The results were summarized as follows: KSST extract exhibited a weak cytotoxicity against HT1080, A549, SK-OV-3, B16-F10 and SK-MEL-2 cells. KSST extract showed a inhibitoty effect on DNA topoisomerase I from calf thymus in a dose-dependent manner. Also, KSST extract showed antiadhesive effect on HT1080 cells but didn't showed on A549 cells to complex extracellular matrix. In pumonary colonization assay, a number of colonies in the lungs were decreased significantly in KSST treated group as compared with control group. In vitro neovascularization assays, angiogenesis was significantly inhibited in KSST treated group than control group. In CAM assay, KSST extract inhibited angiogenesis significantly at 15㎍/egg concentration as compared with control. From the above results it was concluded that KSST showed antitumor effect through the antimetastatic effect. So it is expected to be clinically helpful on the prevention of metastasis of cancer.
Background: Radiation therapy plays an important role in lung carcinoma treatment. However, the incidence of symptomatic radiation-induced lung injury is high. This study aimed to evaluate radioprotective effects of flavonoids extracted from Astragalus complanatus and mechanisms of action against radiation damage. Methods: Alteration in antioxidant status and levles of several cytokines were investigated in BABL/C mice treated with 4 mg/kg b.wt. flavonoids after exposure to 10Gy thoracic radiation. Results: Serum levels of SOD in the flavonoids+radiation group were significantly higher compared to the radiation control group, while TGF-${\beta}1$ and IL-6 were lower. Mice in the radiation control group displayed more severe lung damage compared with the flavonoids+radiation group. The expression of TGF-${\beta}1$ and TNF-${\alpha}$ in the radiation control group was markedly increased in alveolar epithelial cells and macrophages of the alveolar septum. Conclusions: From the results of the present study, flavonoids could be excellent candidates as protective agents against radiation-induced lung injury.
Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the effects of educational intervention on pre-test and post-test tidal volume, endotracheal peak pressure, and ventilation interval measurements during single-rescuer respiratory-assistant therapy by paramedic students. Methods: The present study, with a quasi-experimental design, included a pre-test and post-test nonequivalent control group. A total of 62 paramedic students (31, experimental group; 31, control group) participated in this study. The intervention lasted 80 minutes. Data were collected from each student before the intervention and two weeks after the intervention, between September 3 and 21, 2018. The collected data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, Version 25.0. Results: Tidal volume (p<.001) and endotracheal peak pressure (p=.002) measurements after the intervention were significantly different between the two groups. Analysis of covariance was used to control the variance (the pretest value of endotracheal peak pressure) in order to identify the effect of the intervention in the two groups. Endotracheal peak pressure was not significantly different between the two groups. Conclusion: Education and training of paramedic students in emergency medical services on single-rescuer respiratory-assistant therapy is necessary for the emergency care of patients with respiratory arrest.

World practice is evidence of that computer systems of an intellectual support of medical activities bound up with examination of patients, their diagnosis, therapy and so on are the most effective means for attainment of a high level of physician\`s qualification. Such systems must contain large knowledge bases consistent with the modern level of science and practice. To from large knowledge bases for such systems it is necessary to have a medical ontology model reflecting contemporary notions of medicine. This paper presents a description of an observation ontology, knowledge base for the physician of general tipe, architecture, functions and implementation of problem independent shell of the system for intellectual supporting patient examination and mathematical model of the dialog. The system can be used by the following specialist: therapeutist, surgeon, gynecologist, urologist, otolaryngologist, ophthalmologist, endocrinologist, neuropathologist and immunologist. The system supports a high level of examination of patients, delivers doctors from routine work upon filling in case records and also automatically forms a computer archives of case records. The archives can be used for any statistical data processing, for producing accounts and also for debugging of knowledge bases of expert systems. Besides that, the system can be used for rise of medical education level of students, doctors in internship, staff physicians and postgraduate students.

Background/Aims: In patients undergoing endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), calcineurin activates zymogen, which results in pancreatitis. In this study, we aimed to determine the efficacy of tacrolimus, a calcineurin inhibitor, in preventing post-ERCP pancreatitis (PEP). Methods: This was a prospective pilot study in which patients who underwent ERCP received tacrolimus (4 mg in two divided doses); this was the Tac group. A contemporaneous cohort of patients was included as a control group. All patients were followed-up for PEP. PEP was characterized by worsening abdominal pain with an acute onset, elevated pancreatic enzymes, and a duration of hospital stay of more than 48 hours. Serum tacrolimus levels were measured immediately before the procedure in the Tac group. Results: There were no differences in the baseline characteristics between the Tac group (n=48) and the control group (n=51). Only four out of 48 patients (8.3%) had PEP in the Tac group compared to eight out of 51 patients (15.7%) who had PEP in the control group. The mean trough tacrolimus level in patients who developed PEP was significantly lower (p<0.05). Conclusions: Oral tacrolimus at a cumulative dose of 4 mg safely prevents PEP. Further randomized controlled studies are warranted to establish the role of tacrolimus in this context.

This paper proposes the method to improve the charging speed of high voltage capacitor used in the portable medical device. The feedback control method with microprocessor was used to detect charging time and control charging voltage. The result shows that the proposed method is more efficient than only voltage check method with typical charging sequence control.
Case-control studies are widely used for disease gene mapping using individual genotyping data. However, analyses of large samples are often impractical due to the expense of individual genotyping. The use of DNA pooling can significantly reduce the number of genotyping reactions required; hence reducing the cost of large-scale case-control association studies. Here, we discuss the design and analysis of DNA pooling genetic association studies.
