Retinal prosthesis is regarded as the most feasible method for the blind caused by retinal diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa (RP) or age related macular degeneration (AMD). Recently Korean consortium launched for developing retinal prosthesis. One of the prerequisites for the success of retinal prosthesis is the optimization of the electrical stimuli applied through the prosthesis. Since electrical characteristics of degenerate retina are expected to differ from those of normal retina, we performed voltage stimulation experiment both in normal and degenerate retina to provide a guideline for the optimization of electrical stimulation for the upcoming prosthesis. After isolation of retina, retinal patch was attached with the ganglion cell side facing the surface of microelectrode arrays (MEA). $8{\times}8$ grid layout MEA (electrode diameter: $30{\mu}m$, electrode spacing: $200{\mu}m$, and impedance: $50k{\Omega}$ at 1 kHz) was used to record in-vitro retinal ganglion cell activity. Mono-polar electrical stimulation was applied through one of the 60 MEA channel, and the remaining channels were used for recording. The electrical stimulus was a constant voltage, charge-balanced biphasic, anodic-first square wave pulse without interphase delay, and 50 trains of pulse was applied with a period of 2 sec. Different electrical stimuli were applied. First, pulse amplitude was varied (voltage: $0.5{\sim}3.0V$). Second, pulse duration was varied $(100{\sim}1,200{\mu}s)$. Evoked responses were analyzed by PSTH from averaged data with 50 trials. Charge density was calculated with Ohm's and Coulomb's law. In normal retina, by varying the pulse amplitude from 0.5 to 3V with fixed duration of $500{\mu}s$, the threshold level for reliable ganglion cell response was found at 1.5V. The calculated threshold of charge density was $2.123mC/cm^2$. By varying the pulse duration from 100 to $1,200{\mu}s$ with fixed amplitude of 2V, the threshold level was found at $300{\mu}s$. The calculated threhold of charge density was $1.698mC/cm^2$. Even after the block of ON-pathway with L-(1)-2-amino-4-phosphonobutyric acid (APB), electrical stimulus evoked ganglion cell activities. In this APB-induced degenerate retina, by varying the pulse duration from 100 to $1200{\mu}s$ with fixed voltage of 2 V, the threshold level was found at $300{\mu}s$, which is the same with normal retina. More experiment with APB-induced degenerate retina is needed to make a clear comparison of threshold of charge density between normal and degenerate retina.

We developed an orofacial pains diagnosis/therapy system which can enlarge a therapy effect through a new stimulation. Contrary to its established method, this therapy system(DDTS-1) is a treating method which absorbs a surplus ion charge- the cause of an outbreak of a pain-of the human body using a capacitor. Absorbing a surplus ion charge of the human body with effect, it obtained optimal parameters which is control signal to control charging/discharging a capacitor to be 6Hz, and capacitance to be $0.1\~0.33{\mu}F.$ Through clinical demonstration, experimented on among patients-namely dental pain patients, joint disorders patients, and trigeminal neuralgia patients to verification of system. In result, an EAST stimulater had a very low change of abnormal potential against normal potential before/after being placed under medical care. DDTS-1 showed obvious differences that two potentials are one and the same potential or one potential is similar to the other one. DDTS-1 comparing with EAST showed the remedial value of the comparative advantage in all the medical treatment of pains. Therefore, stimulation of DDTS-1 is more effective than the existing electric stimulation. We verified its validity of ion charge absorption in the human body using capacitor which presented the present thesis. That is, we verified theoretical adequacy of control action in a pain, and its efficiency as well as confidence.
Based on foreign examples and past debates, the minimal conditions for passive euthanasia can be suggested as following; (1) The patient is incurable by modem medical practice and his death is impending (less than 6 months), (2) Euthanasia is practiced solely to relieve physical pain of the patient, (3) If the patient can express his will, there should be a clear and sincere request or consent, (4) More than 2 doctors including doctor in charge should consent, (5) Euthanasia should be practiced in ethical way, (6) Patient family should agree(when the patient will is assumed.) It is hard to resolve issues regarding euthanasia based on past rulings and cases without concrete law. As in United States and Germany, clear and objective provisions of euthanasia and definitive method for patient's advanced directive should be legislated to resolve medical conflict and to relieve patient and family from agony. And death with dignity debate will not be able to proceed if it is only substantively approached because of unclear definition of euthanasia and benefit comparison way of thinking. Thus it is important to establish definitive process to decided legislation of euthanasia act and resolving conflicts arising from each step of the process among interested parties exchanging medical/ethical opinions.

Backround : The paradigm of recent education has been shifting from existing style of professor-oriented, passive and rote teaching to learner-centered education. Rather than mere delivery of knowledge, today's idea of education uses various audiovisual media to let learners gain more problem-solving skills, judgment, cognitive thinking ability, and creativity to apply to real practice. Also, while current trends and change in policy ask for related industry to require practice-centered teaching learning model, Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is quite effective that it activates problem-solving skills as well as application of National Competency Standards (NCS). Purpose : The purpose of this study was to suggest a teaching learning model article as an approach to apply web-based PBL for patient & medical charge management practices. Discussion & Conclusion : This paper the cases on PBL and presents the teaching learning model on web-based PBL as an approach to applying web-based PBL, which fits Medical Information System Department that combines health-medical treatment and computer applications, to practical health administrative affairs.
Background : The 'Korean Medicine' is the traditional medicine in Korea, which has preserved its homogeneous quality in the long historic period. But since 1945 when Korea was divided, the Korean Medicine has also been independently developed in South and North Korea. As a Result, it has lost its national homogeneity. Objective : In order to illuminate the past and an actuality of the transition and medical system of traditional medicine in North Korea. Method : Overview a preceding research paper and the various data of traditional medicine in North Korea. Result : 1. The name of North Korea traditional medicine from 'East medicine' was changed history with 'Korean medicine', It with the method which combines a traditional medicine and a Western medicine is endeavoring to modernization. 2. The administrative systems which take charge of the traditional medicine of North Korea are the organization which manages the Korean medicine and the Bureau of The Korean medicine production control. Also there is relation of the Bureau of the treatment prevention. 3. There are 8 medical colleges other than P'yongyang medical college. There is 6 years 6 months and 7 years 7 month follows in curriculum. Conclusions : It evaluated the past and an actuality of the transition and medical system of traditional medicine in North Korea.
The canonical transient receptor potential channels (TRPCs) constitute a series of nonselective cation channels with variable degrees of $Ca^{2+}$ selectivity. TRPCs consist of seven mammalian members, TRPC1, TRPC2, TRPC3, TRPC4, TRPC5, TRPC6, and TRPC7, which are further divided into four subtypes, TRPC1, TRPC2, TRPC4/5, and TRPC3/6/7. These channels take charge of various essential cell functions such as contraction, relaxation, proliferation, and dysfunction. This review, organized into seven main sections, will provide an overview of current knowledge about the underlying pathogenesis of TRPCs in cardio/cerebro-vascular diseases, including hypertension, pulmonary arterial hypertension, cardiac hypertrophy, atherosclerosis, arrhythmia, and cerebrovascular ischemia reperfusion injury. Collectively, TRPCs could become a group of drug targets with important physiological functions for the therapy of human cardio/cerebro-vascular diseases.

The Film X-ray and the CCD method of current medical image system have the disadvantages such as required large place and diagnosis time. In this paper, we implement an effective medical image system using TXT-DXD method's digital X-ray detector(DR1000C). The implemented medical image system has advantages of placing efficiency and short diagnosis time. In order to make the image out of the system more effective, we develop an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) control driver, having the resolution of 1900*1200. And we propose an enhancement unsharp masking method to update image enhancement of DR1000C medical image system, and compare it with the current methods.
On March 11, 2011, the Korea National Assembly finally passed the bill on the Damage Relief on the Medical Malpractice and Mediation for Medical Dispute. One of the features of this Act is including "The Subrogation Payment System for Damage (abbreviated SPSD)". This System is that 'Korean Medical Dispute Mediation-Arbitration Board' pays the damages, instead of the health care provider, for the patient who isn't paid damages by the health care provider despite of the Mediation or ruling. The purpose of this study is to search the problems and make improvement on SPSD. This System was introduced extreamly to the patients in order to induce them to the mediation. However, there remains several problems. In this articles, I have examined thoroughly the legal issues on SPSD. There are legal issues about the methods and ratio of the financial burden. In this connection, wide discretionary authority has been granted to administrative agencies specifically. On this account, this System clearly contains elements of a violation against the Constitutional Law. Moreover, this System can be broadly applied to the case of court ruling or the Korea Consumer Agency's mediation. But these measures go against the aim of legislation that the medical dispute can be resolved through the mediation or arbitration by this Act. In the end, these problems must be revised through the additional discussion.

The patients with a central nervous impediment and a sequela caused by a Stroke are continuously increasing, and the burden of family and society for Stroke patients are also increasing. Since Stroke patients are required to receive a long time medical treatment and care. It adds a economical burden as well as a mental and physical burden of patient's family. In addition, it is a primary factor which deepens the disparity of medical resources in social aspect. But the social concern for these patients are very insufficient and are entirely left to the patient's family The mediation of Skilled Nursing Facility for Stroke patients enable to receive more special and proper medical treatment and recuperation service in the middle of time when they return to home from hospital. It also contributes to the settlement of the charge of patient's family and the serious disparity of medical resources. Therefore, this study will summon the social understanding of the necessity of Skilled Nursing Facilities through the above debate.
