  • Because the psychophysical symptoms of hearing loss and dementia in the elderly are very similar, untrained healthcare professionals in dementia facilities can easily overlook a severity of hearing loss in their patients. The present study identifies their knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) on hearing loss using a survey whether they may help hearing problem of the patients with dementia. A total of 29 health-care professionals responded to the KAP survey. Also, 2 family members participated. The results showed that most of the nurses and caregivers in elderly medical welfare facilities who worked with dementia patients did not have knowledge of their hearing loss. Even the facility managers did not know how to conduct hearing tests for their patients although they did recognize that some of their patients had a hearing loss. Eventually, actual practice was not possible at this moment by the professionals. However, our respondents did have a positive attitude toward screening for hearing loss and help their patients with dementia wear hearing aids if a clinical guideline was provided. We suggest to develop clear and precise clinical guidelines of the hearing screening test for the dementia patients due to the interrelationship between dementia and hearing loss. When these guidelines apply to elderly residents in a medical welfare facility, early diagnosis and treatment of their sensory loss will help alleviate their dementia as well.

  • The purposes of this study were: a) to develop the a quality measurement tool for the contract-managed hospital foodservice, and b) to evaluate their performance with the developed quality measurement tool, and c) to verify the reliability and validity of the quality measurement tool. The developed quality measurement tool comprised two parts, which were foodservice management and medical nutrition care service. The foodservice management part was classified into six functional categories which were Menu, Procurement and Storage, Production and Distribution, Facility and Utility, Sanitation and Safety, and Management and Evaluation. The medical nutrition care service part indicated the medical nutrition care provided. Quality measurement tool had 91 standards and 324 indicators. The quality measurement tools were distributed to the hospital foodservice manager employed by the foodservice company. The 324 indicators were measured by foodservice manager on the 5-Likert-type scales, and then adapted to a 100 point scale. The SPSS Ver. 11.0 was used for statistical analysis. The categories whose scores were evaluated as being high were Procurement', General Sanitation', Personal sanitation' and Waste' and the categories whose scores were evaluated as being low were Diet Order Manual', Standard Recipe', Appropriateness (Facility and Utility)', Check (Facility and Utility)'and Information Management'. All the categories of medical nutrition service were evaluated as having seriously low scores. Therefore, it was necessary for the contract-managed hospital foodservice to improve its performance in the area of medical nutrition care service. For the verification of the developed quality measurement tool, the reliability obtained by calculating Cronbach's α was 0.8747, and the content validity was also proved by scrutiny of the modification of the Professional group's techniques. • Heart related special images are classified as Cardiac US, XA, CT, MRI. Several Problem is caused by image compression, control and medical support point, so most big hospitals have created a Cadiac PACS differentially in past years. For this reason, create a conflict in inner colleague and patient, protector that result from 2 data processing server operating independently in 1 medical center area. For this reason, we sugges an alternative model of best medical control process together with understand the current situation on medical facility.

  • This is the study on the current status and system of the elderly medical and welfare facilities with the subjects in Busan. I investigated the problems related to those by analysing the current status and implementing a survey and then suggested a new facility system as a salvation. At present, the elderly medical and welfare facilities can not receive variety of inmates and also they are operated separatedly so the elderly is not able to receive special treatment and nursing at the same time in one facility. Some nursing facilities can give special treatment by connecting specific hospital when it is necessary, but the connection is not activated than our expectancy at the present. On the base of these problems, this study suggested 'one-stop service system' that can afford to give nursing and special treatment in a place ranging wider areas as the solution. The five types of facility system by integrating the results of survey are as followings. 1) Free special nursing facility + The geriatric hospital. 2) The profit special nursing facility + The geriatric hospital. 3) The geriatric hospital + The hospital rooms with silver town residence type. 4) The actual expense special nursing facility + The geriatric hospital + The hospital rooms with silver town residence type. 5) The geriatric hospital + The residential welfare service. It seems that the preparation for the elderly is urgent when considering the facilities related to those are not special any more because every one is supposed to use them some day. The kinds and the degree of elderly's diseases will be more duplicated and significant afterwards. Therefore it is expected that more various and specialized facilities are to be required.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the medical care utilization behavior of patients to whom treatment (surgery) is recommended after they are diagnosed with abnormal findings on health screening and factors affecting the selection of the medical institute for treatment. The data was collected from 291 patients who need treatment or surgery, according to the abnormal findings on the additional examination such as cardiac CT, brain MRI, Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy since four diseases are suspected among of 2,752 people who receive health screening. The results are as follows. First, the most common disease of patients who have abnormal findings by the diagnosis through the results of first testing is colon disease based on through the additional examination. The most common disease of patients who will get treatment (surgery) based on final diagnosis by a doctor who determines the result of health screening on the basis of diagnosis from the first testing is cardiovascular disease. Second, in terms of diseases, patients with cardiovascular disease select the medical institute where they get the health screenings as a place for treatment. Patients with cerebrovascular disease select another medical institute for treatment. Finally, the affective factors of selectivity treatment facility on health screening satisfaction were human, facility, health screening and revisit factors.

  • The purpose of this paper is to suggest rules and regulations about a bike parking facility, With the objective of expanding bike parking facilities for the comfort of bikers. In Korea, the requirements to establish the facility comply with several regulations like laws for the encouragement of bike usages, rules and regulations for the encouragement of bike usages, regulations of Gyeonggi Regional Corporation rules and Korea National Housing Corporation(Korea Land and Housing Corporation) and requirements for the approval of green buildings. Such rules regulate the number of parking spots depending on the number of nearby houses and the size of a parking facility. Amongst the foreign regulations about the facility is 'obligatory regulations for the establishment of a bike parking facility' in Japan. In the United States, all states apply rules about the bike facility to determine the number of bike parking spots in accordance with the number of car parking spots. Comparing Korean rules regarding the bike parking facility with those of foreign governments will give a good insight into the current situation of Korean regulations. In order to investigate the current usage of bikes, 30 houses in Goyang city, 35 schools, 16 retails shops and 20 medical centers were researched. Thereafter, a correlation test between the size of buildings and the number of bike parking spots was carried out. The result of the test indicates that there is a lack of space for bike parking. It is recommended that the bike parking facility be installed with a convenient access to a building in order to increase the rate of bike usages.

The most influential variable on the overall satisfaction level of the public health center is the facility satisfaction And doctor satisfaction had a weak effect. In the case of hospitals, the facility satisfaction Also, the degree of satisfaction with doctors, satisfaction with medical expenses, and satisfaction with treatment environment were in order.
