  • The purpose of this study is to investigate mediated effect of spirituality on the relationship between perceived burdensomeness and death anxiety among the elderly. According to the result of this study, it was learned that perceived burdensomeness of aged people has significant correlations with a path of perceived burdensomeness to death anxiety, a path of spirituality to death anxiety and a path of perceived burdensomeness to spirituality. In short, higher perceived burdensomeness results in higher death anxiety, and higher spirituality lowers the death anxiety. This refers that perceived burdensomeness is predictor of death anxiety. In addition, it also indicates that mediated effect of spirituality has significant correlations with both full/partial mediator models - partial mediator model supposes both direct and indirect paths that differ from the way of perceived burdensomeness influences on death anxiety, while full mediator model supposes only indirect path. The result of this study suggests practical proposal to promote the quality of living of the elderly by reducing perceived burdensomeness that stimulates death anxiety and giving opportunity for experiencing spirituality to cope with death anxiety.

  • This paper proposed mediator agent system that guarantees reciprocity to attendances in bilateral negotiations for electronic commerce that is different from regular commercial transactions. The optimal agreement was supposed to provide the total maximum profits and the minimum difference in profits of both attendances in negotiations. In the mediator agent system, mediator agent conducted the negotiations considering multi attributes of product and Multi Attribute Utility Theory(MAUT) was applied to evaluate the profits of buyer and seller. 1'he negotiation model in mediator agent system was transformed into linear programming according to the information of bargain for attendances in negotiations. In order to compare with mediator agent system under the same conditions of reciprocity, another negotiation agent system was implemented using trade-off mechanism that is an algorithm for agent interactions in negotiation. The negotiation agent system using trade-off mechanism did not guarantee the optimal agreement, whereas mediator agent system provided attendances in negotiations with optimal agreement rapidly in comparison with trade-off mechanism.

  • Despite the importance of and the vast empirical research attention devoted to commitment in channel relationships, several unresolved issues remain. First, although the term commitment is often measured as a single trait, measuring commitment as a single dimension, is problematic for the epistemological depth and methodological sophistication of the instrument. Second, consumer research has seldom considered the complex nature of commitment in consumer markets. This study hypothesized that the multidimensionality of commitment can be separately identified and that the multidimensional factors-LY(Loyalty), ID(Identity), INT(Internalization)-interact differently from those in inter-fun relationships. A conceptualization of commitment holds LY as a central mediator between ID and INT in this study. The data was collected from 491 retail consumers. For the measurement model test, the three-factor model was selected as representing the underlying factor structure in the sample data and the multidimensionality of commitment was confirmed. The conceptualized model, holding LY as a mediator of ID and INT, performed better than the competing model with INT as mediator of ID and LY. The results provide a theoretical contribution in furthering the research on relationship marketing with consumers by suggesting that the consumer commitment structure be presented differently from the organizational commitment.

  • It Is a typical scenario in concurrent engineering/design that different perspectives of each team members participating In the project exist, and those perspectives lead to conflicting decisions. The model 'resolution network' proposed in this work provides system-mediated resolution for all related team engineers to consider to optimize the manufacture in general. This paper focuses on development of the general architecture of the model and a search engine called Mediator to determine a resolution network from a given constraint network. The Mediator manages the constraint network, determines the most optimistic resolution called optimal point in terms of satisfying overall production goal , and use the optimal point to mediate controversial issues among teams. The biggest merit of our model is that it provides teams with resolution with logical and rational reasoning.

  • A decision tree algorithm should be modified to be suitable in distributed and collaborative environments for distributed data mining. The distributed data mining system proposed in this paper consists of several agents and a mediator. Each agent deals with a local data mining for data in each local site and communicates with one another to build the global decision tree model. The mediator helps several agents to efficiently communicate among them. One of advantages in distributed data mining is to save much time to analyze huge data with several agents. The paper focuses on a transfer technique among agents dealing with each local decision tree model to reduce huge overhead in communication among them.

  • This study was conducted in order to find out protective factors on adolescent's social withdrawal. The purpose of this study was to test the mediator effects of adolescent's ego-resilience in the relation between affectionate parenting attitudes and adolescent's social withdrawal. The data were collected from 586 students of high schools located in 'D' city, Korea. Adolescents completed questionnaires on 'My Memories of Upbringing(EMBU-short)', ego-resilience, and 'Korean Youth Self Report(K-YSR)' scales. The correlation and structural equation model were conducted to examine the relations between the variables by using the SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0. The results are as follow: First, while the affectionate parenting attitudes did not directly affect the adolescent's social withdrawal, the ego-resilience had a direct effect on the adolescent's social withdrawal. Second, there was a significant mediator effect of the adolescent's ego-resilience between the affectionate parenting attitude and adolescent's social withdrawal. In conclusion, these results can be used as basic data to prevent social withdrawal of adolescents and increase their ego-resilience.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the mediator effect of the presidential candidate brand affiliated to the certain party toward enhancing the party brand equity and the presidential candidate brand value. In detail, firstly, the study attempts to identify the determinants of the party brand equity. Secondly, we clarify the factors of presidential candidate brand value. Finally, the paper testifies the proposed mediator model of the presidential candidate brand with respect to the impact of the belonging party brand equity in voting intention. Results show that the mediator effect of candidate brand exists between the affiliated party and the voting intention. In voting intention, the perceived quality of the party brand equity significantly influences on the candidate brand. Brand loyalty and Brand association of the party brand equity don't impact on the candidate brand significantly. In addition, the result proposes the all components of candidate brand value have significant impacts on voting intention. This paper is an initial attempts to regard the political parties and affiliated candidates in terms of brand marketing as the party brand equity and the candidate brand value respectively. With respect to better enhancing an approval rating, the study is proposed to the parties and candidates to-do list and direction of brand equity management.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the validity of adolescent's status offenses model based on general strain theory. To perform this research, a survey was conducted to adolescents of mixed gender from middle and high schools in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, who were 9th to 11th grade students. A total of 1167 cases were collected, and without 27 inappropriate cases, 1140 cases were used for the analysis. A structural equation model was applied to the child abuse experience with depression mediator and the adolescents status offense, and the calculation of model fit index reached to .986(TLI), .994(CFI), and .032(RMSEA). The result of Aroian test on the effectiveness of depression as a mediator demonstrates that depression has a prominent effect as a mediator to the model. However, the self control of an adolescent, which were presented in this research as a primary moderating variable, did not display any salient effect on the course of a depression developing to the level of status offense.

  • This paper presents a content-search system built on distributed environments using the open product model of STEP, The content-search system searches design data for given product descriptions such as part name and features. Distribute object interfaces has been defined by IDL and distributed product data are searched through CORBA protocols. Web interfaces are also provided for interactive user interfaces. Given a user request, a mediator interacts with distributed search servers and sends collected results back to the user. The mediator has such metadata as location, program name, and other information about product data stored on distributed system. The search servers use SDAI interfaces to search STEP files or databases. The content-search system promotes the reuse of previous design within a company and the outsourcing of part designs.
