A Study on the Effect of SNS Characteristics of Restaurant Franchise on the Customer Decision and Redelivery Intention

  • This study is conducted to analyze how Social Media characteristics of restaurant franchise affect customer decision making and redelivery intention and find out how to do Social Media marketing which is getting important. Through this study, we will understand the direction of Social Media management. In this study, we had 220 users to respond questionnaires who looked up about restaurant franchise through Social Media. In the previous research, we classified the Social Media characteristics about the restaurant franchise into the fields of liveliness, agreement, reliability, communication, accuracy, and entertainment. In order to verify the hypothesis, we conducted single regression analysis and multiple regression analysis and verified the relationship between variables. First, we found that Social Media characteristics of restaurant franchise has a positive relationship with favorability. Second, Social Media characteristics of restaurant franchise has a positive relationship with satisfaction. Third, favorability has a positive effect on satisfaction. Fourth, favorability has a positive effect on the intention of re-inquiry and redeliver. Fifth, satisfaction has a positive effect on the revisit and intention to redirect. As a result of the study, we found that restaurant franchise will gain trust of customers if they take into account the characteristics of Social Media of restaurant franchise and conduct customized marketing according to the head office of restaurant franchise and perform continuous feedback and management in order to improve customer's favorability and loyalty.

  • 오늘날 원소스 멀티유즈(미국에서는 미디어 프랜차이즈라는 용어를 사용함)가 비주얼 콘텐츠 산업에서 시대의 흐름이 된 이유는 하나의 소스 콘텐츠를 가지고 다양하게 활용, 판매해 부가가치를 극대화 시킬 수 있기 때문이다. 이런 원소스 멀티 유즈가 성공하려면 메인이 되는 하나의 뛰어난 콘텐츠 개발 및 이를 다양한 장르에 접목시키는 기획력이 매우 중요하다고 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 이런 원소스 멀티유즈의 여러 성공 사례 중, 메이플 스토리를 중심으로 기획력 등 여러 요인을 분석하여 어떻게 한국에서 성공할 수 있었는지, 또한 한국형 원소스 멀티 유즈가 나아가야 할 점을 제안하도록 하겠다.

The Globalization Strategy and Performance of an Italian Franchise Optics Corporation: A Study of Luxottica

  • Purpose - This study examined the Italian eyeglass industry and the status of the franchise market. Luxottica's global growth strategy was analyzed to provide insight into the strategy and development of the Italian eyeglass industry and its franchise business. Research design, data, methodology - Luxottica's annual report, public media material, and website were examined, in addition to data from professional institutions. For the domestic eyeglass industry and franchise business, data from professional organizations, franchise information disclosure documents of the Fair Trading Commission, media materials, and related papers were investigated. Results - The success factor turned out to be securing a global wholesaler with retailers in overseas markets. This successful strategy was based on the strong entrepreneurial spirit of the founder, innovative craftsmanship, and an excellent corporate culture including corporate social responsibility (CSR). Conclusions - Considering the current environment, for Luxottica to be a leading global company, it had to review and adopt a successful vertical integration strategy, from R&D to distribution, M&A of overseas wholesalers and retailers, creative design and technical development, and sustainable cultural development

프랜차이즈 베이커리 전문점의 브랜드 풍문이 브랜드 태도와 브랜드 충성도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Brand Hearsay of Franchised Bakery Stores on Brand Attitude and Brand Loyalty)

  • Purpose: Brand hearsay refers to information that can be acquired from advertisement, media publicity, and word-of-mouth prior to experiencing products or services of brands. Previous information about brands obtained through brand hearsay affects consumer behavior in choosing brands. Moreover, brand hearsay is an effective communication method in promoting brands to consumers. Thus, bakery franchises need to improve strengths and differentiate characteristics of their brand, thereby attracting more consumers. Therefore, this study investigates relationships the effect of brand hearsay on consumers' brand attitude and brand loyalty in the context of franchised bakery brands. Research design, data, and methodology: A research model was proposed to examine structural relationships between brand hearsay (advertising, publicity, word-of-mouth), brand attitude, and brand loyalty. An online survey was conducted to consumers who had an experience of visiting a franchise bakery. A total of 513 responses were used for data analysis. SPSS 22.0 was used for analyzing general demographics, and SmartPLS 4.0 was used to test validity and reliability of the proposed model. Result: Among attributes of brand hearsay, advertisement and word-of-mouth had positively significant effects on brand attitude, but no significant effect was found between publicity and attitude. Advertisement had a positively significant impact on brand loyalty, while publicity had a negative effect on brand loyalty opposite to hypothesis. Moreover, brand attitude had a statistically significant effect on brand loyalty. Conclusions: In the context of franchise bakeries, brand hearsay contents may change consumers' attitude toward brands but does not increase brand loyalty. Though media publicity does not affect consumers' attitude toward brands, it may decrease brand loyalty when consumers are too exposed to it. In addition, it is necessary to enhance brand attitude to increase brand loyalty of customers. This study provides bakery franchisors and franchisees information about which type of brand hearsay (e.g., advertisement, word-of-mouth, media, publicity) is effective in enhancing brand attitudes and loyalty of consumers. Further studies may include other variables (e.g., trust) in addition to attitude and loyalty, or compare findings based on brand characteristics (e.g., low-to-medium/high prices, store size).

  • C.I.P(corporate identity program)는 기업전략에 따른 개념을 기반으로 기업의 시각적 환경을 구성하는 각종 시각매체들을 일정한 규정에 의해 규격화, 표준화시키는 프로그램이며, 이에 따라 의도적이고 능동적으로 바람직한 기업의 이미지를 형성시키는 것이다. 그러나 최근의 급격한 기업환경의 변화에 따른 기업혁신과 새로운 형태의 기업의 등장은 기존 CIP개념의 변화를 요구하고 있다. 특히 기업이미지와 관련된 각종 시각매체들은 디지털화 되고있으며, 다양하고 새로운 시각매체들이 발생함으로서 여기에 적합한 아이덴티티디자인이 요구되고 있는 것이다. 최근의 새로운 기업환경에 적합한 특성을 가진 기업형태의 하나인 프랜차이즈 기업에 기존의 CIP 개념을 적용하는 것은 여러 가지 면에서 부족하고 부적절한 요소가 많다. 이미 오래 전부터 기업의 사무환경은 컴퓨팅환경에서 수행되고 있고 일반 가정이나 소규모 업소에서도 이제는 네트워킹을 통한 디지털화된 생활이 일반화된 현실이라 할 때, 이제 기업의 아이덴티티 디자인에서도 종래 CIP가 인쇄매체에 비중을 둔 것에서 벗어나 영상매체 및 새로운 첨단 정보매체에 까지 확대 적용할 수 있는 기능을 갖춰야 할 것이다. 이러한 이유로 본 연구에서는 프랜차이즈시스템에 관련된 아이덴티티 디자인을 F.I.P(franchise Identity programs)라 구별하고 그 개념과 세부적인 내용을 연구한다.

트랜스미디어에 대한 개념적 고찰 (A Conceptual Study on Transmedia)

  • 본 연구는 트랜스미디어라는 개념을 둘러싸고 난립해있는 용어의 문제를 인식하고, 언어기호학의 통합체 이론을 적용하여 개념에 대한 정리와 고찰을 시도하였다. 트랜스미디어에서 접두사 '트랜스'는 횡단과 변형, 초월을 의미한다. 트랜스미디어라는 단어 자체의 이와 같은 다의성은 트랜스미디어 개념을 횡단과 변형, 초월이라는 동사적 계열을 가진 미완의 통합체로 인식할 수 있는 단초를 제공한다. 미디어 기업, 창작자, 사용자처럼 미디어 콘텐츠 분야의 주체이자 주어가 누구냐에 따라 트랜스미디어 개념의 통합체는 트랜스미디어 프랜차이즈, 트랜스미디어 스토리텔링, 프로슈머와 같은 용어와 연결된다. 세 주체가 트랜스미디어의 담화에 참여하는 목적은 IP 활용과 스토리 세계의 확장, 작품 향유로 각각 다르다. 하지만 세 주체가 미디어를 횡단하고 변형하며 초월하는 목적에서 '반복'과 '연장', '확보'와 '연결'이라는 공통의 욕망이 발견된다. 트랜스미디어 프랜차이즈, 트랜스미디어 스토리텔링, 프로슈머와 같은 용어가 트랜스미디어 개념의 '파롤'이라면, 반복과 연장, 확보와 연결은 트랜스미디어 개념의 '랑그'이다.

  • 최근외식프랜차이즈 가맹본사수는증가하고 있지만 가맹본사가 성공보다는실패하는 경우가훨씬 많은 것으로 알려져있다. 여러 실패요인들중에하나는가맹본사의 투명하지못한 경영으로인해, 가맹본사와가맹점간의불신이 있다. 대형외식프랜차이즈경우에는이를 해소하기위해서는ERP와같은통합적정보시스템을이용하고있으나, 소형외식프랜차이즈 가맹본사인 경우는 금전적 인적 자원의 부족으로 매출, 발주관리 등의 기초적인 정보를 다루는 POS(Point of Sale)가 연계된 정보시스템을 겨우 운영하는 실정이다. 소형외식프랜차이즈들의 성공적인 운영을 위해서 저비용으로 현재 시점의 경영상황을 파악할 수 있는 원가관리시스템을 구축할 수 있는 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 원가관리가 가능하고, POS시스템 종류에 구애받지 않는 표준화된 데이터참조모델을 제안한다. 이를 통해 서비스의 연계 및 재사용성을 촉진하고 중복개발을 방지할 수 있으며, 가맹본사에서는 가맹점별 원가관리를 분석하여 가맹본사와 가맹점들은 투명한 점포경영 뿐만 아니라 효율적 경영지원이 가능하게 될 것이다.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존의 POS정보시스템을 이용하는 소형프랜차이즈 업체의 원가관리시스템을 개발하기 위해 표준화된 데이터모델을 개발하고, 사용하기 용이한 UI개발하는 방법론을 제안한다. 표준화된 데이터모델 개발을 통해 redundancy 없는 시스템을 개발하고 운영함으로써 개발 비용을 줄일 수 있으며, 사용하기 편리한 화면은 소형프랜차이즈 업체들의 이용성을 높일 수 있을 것이다. 가맹본사에서는 가맹점별 원가관리를 분석하여 가맹본사와 가맹점들은 투명한 점포경영이 가능하게 될 것이다.

Chinese Market Entry Strategies of Korean Food Franchisor: Case of TheBorn

  • Purpose: By foreshadowing the historical background and cultural influence of Korean food and economic development in China, this paper demonstrates Chinese market entry strategies taken by TheBorn with its company history and CEO's background. Research design, data and methodology: The eclectic paradigm was utilized to analyze ownership, localization, and internalization advantages for TheBorn's first entry into the Chinese market. The research answers how TheBorn could expand its business in the early 2000s while most were skeptical about the globalization of Korean food. Results: First, possessing various restaurant franchises, food patents, and developments, and media use enabled to achieve a strong ownership advantage. Second, the Chinese market is conveniently located in South Korea. Thus, TheBorn could exercise direct management to its overseas restaurant to maintain the food quality and service. Lastly, establishing a sauce manufacturing plant and its branch company accelerated further expansions to other Chinese cities. Conclusions: Based on those success factors, TheBorn extended its business into different cities in China and emerged as a franchisor giant in the Korean restaurant franchise industry.

외식프랜차이즈 가맹본부의 관리특성과 공정성이 관계결속과 성과에 미치는 영향 (Relational Commitment, Performance, and the Franchiser's Management Characteristics and Fairness in Food Service Distribution)

  • Purpose - Franchise industries are significant both socially and economically. However, with increasing interest, there are manifold problems. It is necessary to seek measures for mature operation constantly despite unprepared franchisors, negative perceptions of the media and society toward franchise, and rapid changes in business start-up trends and propensity to consume that make business start-ups difficult. The paper aims to explain the effects of relational commitment and performance on the franchisor's management characteristics and justice in the food service franchise system. Research design, data, and methodology - This is an exploratory survey examining franchising in Korea. Based on a literature synthesis, we extract five constructs: managerial characteristics, support, fairness, trust, and satisfaction. We hypothesize that these factors influence the trust, satisfaction, and performance of franchisees. To examine these hypotheses empirically, we conducted a survey on the database of the Franchising Council of Korea. The study employs data from May to September 2014. In total, 135 completed questionnaires were received, of which 128 were usable. The data was analyzed with SPSS/PC 22.0. First, to test unidimensionality and nomological validity of the measures of each construct, we employed a scale refinement procedure. The result of a reliability test with Cronbach's α and factor analysis warranted unidimensionality of the measures for each construct. In addition, nomological validity of the measures was warranted from the result of the correlation and regression analysis. By analyzing the data, we can confirm most hypotheses. Results - Frist, franchisor characteristics have a positive effect on trust and satisfaction. Second, franchisor fairness has an effect on trust and satisfaction. Third, franchisor support has an effect on satisfaction. Further, the franchisee trust has an effect on satisfaction. Fourth, the satisfaction of a franchisee with a franchisor affects the performance of a franchisee. Finally, there is a possibility that not only franchisee performance but also increasing the credibility and improving the image of the franchisor through communication between franchisor and franchisee can improve franchisees' performance and satisfaction by motivating the franchisee for sustainable growth. Franchisers should endeavor for franchisees to obtain stable revenue with continuous and practical support. They should recognize that they can expand their business by supporting their franchisees. Franchisors should not only instantly respond to franchisees' troubles with interactive communications but also raise the ability of supervisors for better support. Franchisors should share their visions and goals with their franchisees and provide systematic and continuous support based on trust and clear company management. Franchisees should understand franchisors' position as well as participate in establishing the basic franchise system. Contributions - The paper contributes to understanding franchising in Korea. It offers insights and assistance to franchisors hoping to start franchises. This paper explores measurement issues related to franchisee performance by estimating its determinant factors (managerial characteristics, support, fairness, trust, and satisfaction). This study provides franchisors and practitioners planning to extend their franchising business with some practical knowledge.
