  • The animation is in a boom as the one of rising media content industry of 21st century. So it is very affective to education. For example, in primary or secondary schools, there are extra-animation class after school, and in universities, there are a lot of the department of animation nowadays. In every years, a number of high-educated professionals are coming to the manpower market. This was an affirmative phenomenon for many animation companies to upgrade from OEM(Original Equipment Manufacturing) system to very creative system. They might believed that young, well-educated animators have qualified skills, and creative mind. But, 10 years later, now, there is few professionals who was well-educated in system of Korean animation. Companies still can not hire enough animators. Even if they can find an high-educated person, this person do not have enough skills to do his or her works, so companies need to re-educate this animator for awhile. But, why is very hard to find a skillful new animator? From this question, we will talk about educational condition of animation departments, and condition of employment to markets. And then, we will find the causes of problems which give bad effect to lack of manpower. Finally, we will summarize about policies for supporting animation, so hope to contribute for making better atmosphere for creating animations.

  • The continuous development of digital technology has actualized ubiquitous computing, and the environment of human life has come to face changes. Prediction of the future so that human life may be prepared can be very important. A number of predictions of ubiquitous space are presented, ranging from related professional research to mass media, However, proper analyses and understanding are required to understand ubiquitous space and apply it to design. This study seeks to understand ubiquitous space through analysis of the trend in digital technology from a new perspective, to research cases, and predict the future of ubiquitous space. Human, object, and environment have been set as basic factors as the subjects smoothly exchanges various types of information in the physical space, and the trend in digital technology is analyzed. From a human-oriented perspective, the background and development trend of digital technology has been analyzed under the theme of interaction and interlace. From an object-oriented perspective, an analysis was unfolded under the theme of products' evolvement from radios to robots. From an environment-focused perspective, an analysis has been carried out under the theme of situation recognition, intrinsic factors, and integration and connectivity. By applying the analytic results, the types of studies that predict the future of ubiquitous space and generate concepts have been classified and analyzed into three different types of studies for experiment, industry, and public. In this manner, ubiquitous space has been forecasted. This study seeks a systematic analysis of the understanding of the trends in digital technology and employs a case study of ubiquitous space based on systematic analysis. In consideration of all these, this study is expected to contribute to concept generation and development by designers.

  • As technology in 3D industry has rapidly advanced, a lot of studies primarily focusing on visual function and cognition have become vigorous. However, studies on effect of 3D visual fatigue on autonomic nervous system have not less been conducted. Thus, this study was to identify and determine the effect that might have a negative influence on sympathetic nervous system, parasympathetic nervous system, and cardiovascular system. Fifteen undergraduates (female: 9, mean age: $22.53{\pm}2.55$) participated and were sat on a comfortable chair, viewing a 3D content during about 1 hour. Cardiac responses like SDNN(standard deviation of RR intervals), RMS-SD(root mean squared successive difference), and HF/LF ratios extracted from the measured PPG(Photo-PlethysmoGram) before viewing 3D were compared to those after viewing 3D. The results showed that after subjects watched the 3D, responses in sympathetic nervous system and parasympathetic nervous system were activated and deactivated, respectively relative to those before watching the 3D. The results showed that HF/LF ratio, Ln(LF), and Ln(HF) after viewing 3D were significantly reduced relative to those before viewing 3D. No significant effects were observed in SDNN and RMS-SD. Results obtained in this study showed that visual fatigue induced by watching 3D adversely influenced autonomic nervous system, and thereby reduced heart rate variability causing sympathetic nervous acceleration.

  • Since the Web 2.0 generation, the average user is more than just enjoying the various media contents; they start to create contents, and those contents have had a huge value and great influence in recent days. The reason for the increase of users who tend to create contents is due to popularization of web based applications. Previous applications were only for the skilled person; however, new web based applications involve the average person and give him a new level of user enjoyment by allowing him to create easily with simple operations. In this paper, through analysing previous animation-creating applications which could not spread widely compared to other contents, we suggest the outline for developing a web based animation-creating application which can help the user to easily create animation contents. We have looked around at how various other contents-making applications have been changed to help the user to be able to participate in creating contents, and we suggest how animation-creating applications can be changed and developed from this analysis. We expect the conclusion of this paper to stimulate to development acting 3D animation-creating applications corresponding to the web 2.0 features - open, share, cooperate, participate. In result, users can enjoy creating the animation more actively; at the same time, we hope to help the development of the new applications which correlate to memedia generation.

  • In this essay, Japanese independent animator Koji Yamamura's works were analyzed. As understood from etymology of 'anima', animation is the expression media in which creation of moving image is assumed to be essence. In the independent animation, possibility of animation to the essence shows by the most original and experimental method. And it contributes to diversification of the animation style. Yamamura keeps producing animation independently from the 1980's, and he designed and tried technique and theme of new ideas. Here, on Yamamura's early and after works, his animation method considered by analisis of experimental attempt in technique and theme. In the case of Yamamura, he variously experimented technique on his early works and it was made foundation. And, after , Yamamura searched by the method to harmonize form of animation with content treating drawing animation technique with allegorical theme. Especially, independent animation in Japan has developed growing spontaneously. Therefore the individual aesthetics of Japanese independent animators can be discovered indeed variously intheir creation activity and work. So the importance of independent animation is recognized by concretely analyzing the case of Japanese independent animator. • The purpose of this study is to determine the meaning and function of black and white in the comic strip, which are mounted on the book pages. The role of space in comic strip, compared to the role of time in the cinema, enable to feel the role of the time in the book. Therefore storytelling of comic strip has been placed in the inseparable relationship with space. My aim is to think about the black and white meaning in the visual media, especially the use of black and white which is highlighted in the comic strip. Black and white doesn't mean a loss of color in the comic strip but it works around 2 important notions : readability, modernity (with minimalism). In comic strip, 'black and white' is not a true colour but it is complex items which indicate symbolic significances. Moreover it is also a notion which enhance 'existence and absence' and 'visible and invisible'. That's why to analyze and to understand how the space is organized in comic strip page, i chose several examples extract from black and white comic strip.

It matters that the negative discourse of journalists fosters audience's distrust on journalism. Representation of journalists in popular culture is related to the reliability of journalism. In relation, it is noticeable that popular media represent female journalists. This study examines how recent popular films deal with female journalists through the case of (2011) and (2012) to find improvement of discourse on journalists. In result, three female characters in these films represent positively 'reformative leadership' (Chief Cho in ), 'appropriation of information technology'(Seong Hyo Kwan in ), and 'emotional response' (Jang Eun Seo in ). Compared to representation of journalists through male, the positive representation of female journalists constributes to positive discourse on role and function of journalism. However, it may be considered that these positive representations are merely a part of whole journalists.

  • K-pop performances are in the center of the contemporary popular arts and cultural industry, and implicitly reveal the way that our society views the body and the time-space. This paper explores the motif of automaton in the K-pop idol group ShiNee's stage performance of 'Everybody' and the song's music video. At the same time, the paper relates the motif with the automaton of the digital era-that is, the sense of time-space in digital animations. The motif of the automaton has its origins in the mythical forms related to the animation, and is related to the human desire to create humanlike forms. Also, this motif is closely linked to the aesthetical meaning of the animation, being played in different variations since the beginning of the animation. This paper explores the tradition of automaton motif in culture and the arts, and look into the cases in which the history of the relationship between the media and body performance harboring the automaton motif has been displayed in 19th century ballet or modern body expressional arts. In addition, this paper will compare and analyze representative contemporary works that reveal digital viewpoint and the choreography of 'Everybody', and compare other works that stand in similar aesthetic tradition, investigating the influence of digital animation reflected in the K-pop idol and its aesthetic and social undertones.
