자동차 방진고무부품 통합설계시스템 개발 (Development of Integrated Design System for Automotive Rubber Components)

  • 고무부품의 신뢰성을 확보하기 위해서는 피로수명예측 및 평가기술 개발이 중요하다 하겠다. 최근에 고무부품에 대한 고 성능, 고 신뢰성을 위해 설계, 해석 및 평가기술이 요구되고 있으나, 지금까지는 경험과 시행착오적인 방법으로 개발되고 있는 실정이다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 고무소재에 대해 배합조건, 기계적 특성, 열화 및 피로수명 등을 포함하는 고무소재 물성 데이터베이스를 구축하고, 고무부품의 특성해석 결과를 데이터베이스와 연계하여 고무부품의 피로해석 모델을 개발하였으며, 실제 피로시험 결과를 통하여 개발된 모델의 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • This paper deals with the temperature calculation using equivalent thermal network for surface mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor(SPMSM) under the steady-state condition. In the equivalent thermal network, heat sources are generated from copper loss and iron loss. Heat transfer consists of conduction, convection and radiation. However, radiation is neglected in this paper because its effect is much smaller than others. Although the heat transfer coefficient in conduction use material property, heat transfer coefficient in convection is difficult to measure due to the atmosphere and ambient condition. Temperatures of each region in SPMSM are measured by thermocouple in operating condition and the thermal resistances of convection are calculated by kirchhoff's current law(KCL) and experimental result. In order to verify the validation and reliability of the proposed equivalent thermal network, temperature which is calculated other load condition is compared with experimental results. Accordingly, temperatures of each region in other SPMSMs will be easily predicted by the proposed equivalent thermal network.

A study on the mechanically equivalent surrogate plate of U-Mo dispersion fuel using tungsten

  • When a new fuel is developed, various mechanical properties are absolutely necessary for a safety analysis of the fuel for the licensing and prediction of its mechanical behavior during operation and accident conditions. In this paper, a mechanically equivalent surrogate plate of U-Mo dispersion fuel is presented using tungsten, substitute material of U-Mo particle. A surrogate plate, composed of tungsten/aluminum dispersion meat and aluminum alloy cladding, is manufactured with the same fabrication process with that of fuel plate except that a tungsten powder is used instead of U-Mo powder. A modal test showed that the surrogate plate and fuel plate have similar dynamic characteristics, and a tensile test demonstrated the similarity of the material property up to the yield strength range. The conducted tests proved that the surrogate tungsten plate has equivalent mechanical behaviors with that of a fuel plate, which leads to the acceptable use of a surrogate fuel assembly using tungsten/aluminum dispersion meat in various mechanical tests. The surrogate fuel assembly can be utilized for various out-of-pile characteristic tests, which are necessary for the licensing achievement of a research reactor that uses U-Mo dispersion fuel as a driver.

Lifetime Prediction and Aging Behaviors of Nitrile Butadiene Rubber under Operating Environment of Transformer

  • Based on the actual operating environment of transformer, the aging tests of nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) were conducted systematically under four conditions: in air, in transform oil, under compression in air and under compression in transform oil to studythe effect of high temperature, transform oil and compression stress simultaneously on the thermal aging behaviors of nitrile butadiene rubber and predict the lifetime. The effects of liquid media and compression stress simultaneously on the thermal aging behaviors of nitrile butadiene rubber were studied by using characterization methods such as IR spectrosc-opy, thermogravimetric measurements, Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) measurements and mechanical property measurements. The changes in physical properties during the aging process were analyzed and compared. Different aging conditions yielded materials with different properties. Aging at $70^{\circ}C$ under compression stress in oil, the change in elongation at break was lower than that aging in oil, but larger than that aging under compression in air. The compression set or elongation at break as evaluation indexes, 50% as critical value, the lifetime of NBR at $25^{\circ}C$ was predicted and compared. When aging under compression in oil, the prediction lifetime was lower than in air and under compression in air, and in oil. It was clear that when predicting the service lifetime of NBR in oil sealing application, compression and media liquid should be involved simultaneously. Under compression in oil, compression set as the evaluation index, the prediction lifetime of NBR was shorter than that of elongation at break as the evaluation index. For the life prediction of NBR, we should take into account of the performance trends of NBR under actual operating conditions to select the appropriate evaluation index.

항자력과 자기포화도에 의한 WC-8%Co 초경합금의 기계적 성질 평가 (The Evaluation of Mechanical Property of WC-8%Co Alloys by Coercive Force and Magnetic Saturation)

  • WC-Co 초경합금의 항자력과 자기포화도를 평가하여 합금조직과 이에 따른 기계적 성질의 예측에 관해 연구하였다. WC 입경이 다르고 탄소함량 및 소결온도가 다른 WC-8%-Co 초경합금을 분말 야금법에 의해 제조하였다. 항자력과 자기포화도와 같은 WC-Co 합금의 자기적 특성은 합금조성 및 조직에 크게 의존하였다. 미소한 합금탄소량의 변화와 WC 입도의 차이에 의해서도 WC-Co 합금의 자기적 특성과 경도 및 항절력이 크게 변화하였다. WC 입도가 미세할수록 소결합금의 항자력과 경도는 증가하였고, 항자력은 경도의 증가와 비례하였다. WC-8%Co 합금의 화학 양론적 조성 아래로 카본함량이 감소하면 자기포화도와 항절력이 떨어지고 $\eta$상의 체적률도 꾸준히 증가하였다. WC-Co 합금에 있어서 자기포화도는 항자력과 반비례하였다.

Ignition Transient Investigation of Rocket Motor

  • Ignition transient is a. very rapid process lasting only in the order of 100 milliseconds and therefore it is difficult to measure all relevant ballistic properties. Numerical simulation is thus useful to quantify some of these hard to measure flow and ballistic properties. One-dimensional model was employed to study the effects of aging using simplified aging scenarios for both N-H sustainer and booster motors. Also the effects of newly designed igniter on the ignition of N-H sustainer was simulated. Radiation effects could be significant in terms of energy flux increase to the propellant surface and the energy exchange between the combustion gas itself. One dimension implementation of radiation showed significant effects for rear-mounted igniter. Implementation of radiation effects into 2-D axi-symmetric numerical model was completed and its effects on the N-H sustainer were examined. To have a reliable prediction of computer model on ignition transient, accurate chemical property data on the propellant and igniter gas are required. It was found that such property data on aged N-H motors are not available. Chemical aging model can be used to predict to some degree of accuracy effects of aging on chemical and mechanical properties. Such a model was developed, albeit 2-dimensional, to study migration of moisture through a representative solid rocket motor configuration.

안내궤도 차량 부품의 피로 수명 예측에 관한 연구 (A STUDY ON THE FATIGUE LIFE PREDICTION OF GUIDEWAY VEHICLE COMPONENTS)

  • A guideway vehicle is used in automobile, semiconductor and LCD manufacturing industries to transport products efficiently. Since the operating speed of the guideway vehicle should be increased for maximum productivity, the weight of the vehicle has to be reduced. This may cause parts in the system to fail before the life of the system. Therefore estimation of the fatigue life of the parts becomes an important problem. In this study, the fatigue life of the driving wheel in the guideway vehicle is estimated using a S-N curve. To obtain the fatigue life of a part, the S-N curve, load time history applied on a driving wheel and material property are required. The S-N curve of the driving wheel is obtained using the fatigue experiment on wheels. Load time history of the wheel is obtained from multibody dynamics analysis. To obtain the material properties of the driving wheel, which is composed of aluminum with urethane coating, a compression hardware testing has been done with the static analysis of the FE model. The fatigue life prediction using computational analysis model guarantees the safety of the vehicle at the design stage of the product.

꼬리날개를 고려한 50m급 비행선의 부가 질량 예측 (Prediction of the Added Mass of a 50-meter Class Airship with Empennage)

  • Korea Aerospace Research Institute has been developing a 50-meter class airship to demonstrate the technology to be used in the development of a stratospheric airship, and importance of accurate prediction of the dynamic behavior of an airship before flight test is widely conceived. The added mass has large impact on the dynamic characteristics of an airship unlike for an airplane and the added mass of the airship with empennage is predicted in this paper. At first, the usability of the strip theory is examined which integrates the analytic two dimensional results in the cross section along the longitudinal axis. A panel method with the surface distribution of sources is developed and its validity is also examined. Finally, the panel method with both source and doublet distributions is implemented, and it is validated and applied for the calculation of the added mass of a 50-meter class airship. Using the methods developed, the influence of empennage and control surface deflection on the added mass property of the airship is studied.

겹치기 이음부의 설계변수 변화에 따른 고유진동수의 예측 (Prediction of Natural Frequency via Change in Design Variable on Connection Area of Lap Joint)

  • This paper describes the prediction of eigenfrequencies due to changes in stiffness and mass in the connection area of the lap joint beam in terms of linear and torsional stiffness as well as connection length. The sensitivities of mass and stiffness in the finite element model were derived by using the first-order differential and algebraic equation and were thereafter applied to obtain new natural frequencies that were compared with theoretical exact solutions. Newly predicted natural frequencies due to only a change in stiffness were in relatively good agreement with those in lower modes for rigid joints, while further investigation was needed for flexible joints. On the other hand, only the change in mass resulted in a large discrepancy in the flexible joint case. It may be strongly anticipated that this study will provide a useful tool for estimating modal parameters by change in any design variable, such as the structural dimension, material property, or connection type for a large-scale structure, even though the proposed methodology is currently limited to a jointed beam.

자전거 프레임용 원추형 복합재 튜브의 굽힘 거동 분석 (An Evaluation on Bending Behaviors of Conical Composite Tubes for Bicycle Frames)

  • 원추형 복합재 튜브는 우주 항공, 비행체, 잠수함 등 큰 구조물뿐만 아니라 자전거 프레임, 낚시대, 골프채 등 레저용품에도 적용이 되면서 정적-동적 거동에서의 기계적 물성 예측의 중요한 연구 분야로 대두되고 있다. 일반적으로 원추형 복합재 튜브의 기계적 물성 예측은 진동, 굽힘, 좌굴에 관하여 많은 연구가 진행되었지만, 복합재료의 섬유 배향 각이 일정하다고 가정하고 기계적 거동을 분석한 것이 대부분이기 때문에 섬유 배향 각이 원추형 복합재 튜브 구조물의 기계적 물성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 섬유 배향 각을 고려한 원추형 복합재료 튜브의 정적 거동에 따른 기계적 물성을 예측하기 위해 수식을 도출하고, 자전거 프레임에 적용하기 위한 다양한 설계 파라메터의 영향을 고찰하였다.
