형상 기억 유연 소자의 내구성 평가에 관한 연구 (Durability of the Flexible Shape Memory Device)

  • The demand for flexible devices including solar cells, memories and batteries has increased rapidly over the past decades. In most flexible devices, polymer-based materials are used to enable the mechanical deformations such as bending or folding. Shape Memory Polymers (SMPs) is a high molecular compound polymer with flexibility and shape recovery characteristics. In this work, flexible shape memory device was fabricated by simply coating the conducting material, carbon nano-tube (CNT), on a shape memory polymer. Furthermore, durability of the device under various type of mechanical deformations was assessed. It is believed that the result of this work will aid in realization of a stretchable and wearable electronic device for practical applications.

  • Automobile maneuverability and tire durability are significantly influenced by the sidewall tire contour. In order to improve these tire performances, it is very important far one to determine a sidewall contour producing the ideal tension and strain-energy distributions. However, these requirements can nut be simultaneously achieved by conventional non-interactive multi-objective optimization methods based on mathematical programming, because these exhibit the conflicting behavior each other, with respect lo the sidewall contour. Therefore, we execute the tire contour optimization fur improving the maneuverability and the tire durability using satisficing trade-off method.

  • The result of an experimental study on the mechanical properties and durability of polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete are presented in this paper. This study has been performed to obtain the properties of PFRC such as strength, toughness and durability. The test variables are fiber content, fiber types, W/C ratio. PFRC shows the highest strength when the polypropylene fiber contents were increased to 2.0 vol.%. Also, freeze-thaw resistance and carbonation were somewhat more improved than plain concrete.

  • Many methods of spot weld modeling have been developed to increase efficiency and guarantee the robustness fer the CAE analysis. In this research they are introduced and the performance is compared in a viewpoint of stiffness and durability. For evaluating the performance a multi-spot welded specimen as well as two single welded specimen is used. The results show that the CWELD element considering 'patch to patch' is stiffer than other modeling methods in stiffness and more conservative in durability. It also offers simple modeling and since it is much easier to maintain the orrhogonality of the BAR element expressing a nugget, we can obtain more exact reaction forces and moments in a nugget. Therefore the CWELD element is the most excellent in the assessment of durability.

자동차 엔진마운트의 내구성 해석 (Durability Analysis on Automotive Engine Mount)

  • Engine mount is used to soften the impact of bumper with elasticity recovery and damping capacity. Inner noise and vibration to influence the comfortableness for passenger cause the engine to the chattering phenomenon. In this study, structural analysis can be done by engine mounts designed with 3D modelling. Natural frequencies and harmonic responses are analyzed by using models with some kinds of configurations. When the simulation model is applied by the force of 600N within the range of natural frequencies, the magnitude of deformation becomes 0 to 3mm. As the number of holes around inside mount increases, the capability of vibration absorption and durability becomes larger. In case of 5holes around inside mount, it can be safest on durability. The life of mount becomes larger by changing the configuration of model. The engine mount improved with durability can be designed through the result of simulation.

  • A practical method for reducing the number of spot welds in automotive structures considering fatigue crack initiation life is suggested. At first, an influence index for the durability and the fatigue life of a spot weld itself is defined and then taken as the main effect of the DOE analysis. Spot welds that can be removed without serious reduction of durability through numerical experiments are selected by the results of DOE. The proposed method was applied to the shock tower and LCA(lower control arm) structure of a vehicle, which are important components in durability-related point of view.

파워스티어링 오일펌프용 풀리의 피로수명을 고려한 형상최적화 (Shape Optimization Considering Fatigue Life of Pulley in Power-Steering Pulley)

  • The pulley is one of core mechanical elements in the power steering system for vehicles. The pulley operates under both the compressive loading and the torque. Therefore, to assure the safety of the power steering system, it is very important to investigate the durability and the optimization of the pulley. In this study, the applied stress distribution of the pulley under high tension and torsion loads was obtained by using finite element analysis. Based on these results the fatigue life of the pulley with the variation of the fatigue strength was evaluated by a durability analysis simulator. The results at 50% and 1% for the failure probability were compared with respect to the fatigue life. In addition to the optimum design for the fatigue life is obtained by the response surface method. The response function utilizes the function of the life and weight factors. Within range for design life condition the minimization of the weight, one of the formulation, is obtained by the optimal design. Moreover the optimum design by considering its durability and validity is verified by the durability test.

자동차 언더바의 구조 및 피로해석을 통한 내구성 연구 (A Study on Durability of Under Bar at Car through Structural and Fatigue Analysis)

  • This study investigated the durability of the under bar of a car through structural and fatigue analysis. Model 1 had the lowest value among three kinds of models. In the case of the maximum equivalent stress and displacement at structural analysis, model 1 showed the highest durability. Also, models 3 and 2 showed structural durability in order of this value. In the case of fatigue analysis, the maximum fatigue lives of the three models were equal to $2{\times}10^7$cycles. However, model 1 showed the highest value among the three models, as the minimum fatigue life of model 1 becames 92.56 cycles. Also models 3 and 2 showed fatigue durability in order of this value. The maximum possibility of fatigue damage for models1,2,and 3 became 30%. If the results of this study are applied to change the design shape of the under bar of cars, the ride comfort for automobile passengers and car durability can be improved.

Enhancing mechanical and durability properties of geopolymer concrete with mineral admixture

  • This paper approaches to improve the mechanical and durability properties of low calcium fly ash geopolymer concrete with the addition of Alccofine as a mineral admixture. The mechanical and durability performance of GPC was assessed by means of compressive strength, flexural strength, permeability, water absorption and permeable voids tests. The correlation between compressive strength and flexural strength, depth of water penetration and percentage permeable voids are also reported. Test results show that addition of Alccofine significantly improves the mechanical as well as permeation properties of low calcium fly ash geopolymer concrete. Very good correlations were noted between the depth of water penetration and compressive strength, percentage permeable voids and compressive strength as well as between compressive strength and flexural strength.

The Effect of Water Emulsified Fuel on a Motorway-Bus Diesel Engine

  • In this study, the combustion characteristics and durability of a diesel engine using emulsified fuel was investigated. Water was used in oil type emulsified fuel. In order to understand the effect of emulsified fuel in a wide range of engine running conditions, D-13 mode was selected as a test condition, and a durability test was included to understand the long-term effect of water. Combustion pressure in a cylinder, exhaust emissions, specific fuel consumption, sound level and maximum torque were measured. NOx and PM were simultaneously reduced and the specific fuel consumption was increased and decreased at low and high loads, respectively. There was no trouble and any damage on the parts of the cylinder during a 500 hour durability test.
