  • To monitor the safety and serviceability of a structures, structural responses including displacements due to various design and unexpected loadings must be measured. The maximum displacement and its distributions of a structure can be used as a direct assessment index on its stiffness. For this reason, there have been diversely studied on measuring of the maximum displacement of a structure. However, there is no practical method for measuring displacement of a structure. Therefore, in this paper, new displacement measuring method is developed and accuracy of LiDAR is examined in detail for development of a new method for measuring displacement of a structure.

스플리트빔 형태의 고정도 단위 실리카 측정기술 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of a pub level Silica Measuring Technology by the Split-beam Type System)

  • Dissolved silica is one of fatal components at a boiler facility Therefore, a dissolved silica measurement system should be equipped for managing efficiently the boiler facility. Most of silica measurement systems are composed of a sensor module of single-beam type structure, and silica density is measured with a infrared spectrometry using the Lambert-beer method. However, such a system occurs measuring error of large range and inconsistency of a light source, because of measuring a standard sample and a measuring sample alternatively. This paper introduces a method that the sensor module has a split-beam type structure and a tungsten lamp. The proposed system can measure silica density quickly and precisely more than those composing of a single-beam type structure, because of measuring and comparing with two samples at a same time. And examination results are shown to compare efficiencies of the system and existing commercial products, and for an ammonia influence.

  • A reactor vessel internals comprehensive vibration assessment program (RVI CVAP) of an advanced power reactor 1400 (APR1400) is being performed as a non-prototype category-2 type of reactor based on the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Regulatory Guide (NRC RG) 1.20. The aim of this paper is to present the results of structural response analysis and measuring locations of a upper guide structure (UGS) assembly of the APR1400 reactor. The analysis results of the UGS assembly results show that meet the specified integrity levels of the design acceptance criteria. Also, the measuring locations are set by the analysis results of the UGS assembly and selection criteria of measuring locations prior to this study. These analysis results and measuring locations will be used as fundamental materials to design a measurement system for the APR1400 RVI CVAP.

도심지 근접시공의 자동계측응용 (Application of Automated Measuring System for the Underground Construction in Urban Area)

  • It is impossible to precat the behavior of ground soil and structure accurately during underground construction in urban area or excavation in soft ground area because of difference between the assumed design condition and the actual site condition. Therefore, it must be managed by measuring system and correct the difference by real data. Large scale under ground construction in urban area like a seoul subway project has needed for Intelligent Construction technique, a field of the Engineering Contractor. The automated measuring system is developed for the technique. It is described that the procedure and the method of measuring work with application of the automated measuring system.

압전효과를 이용한 압인방식의 휴대용 피부탄력 측정장치 (A Portable Skin Elasticity Measuring Device Based on Indentation Method Using Piezoelectric Effect)

  • In this paper, we proposed and developed a new portable skin elasticity measuring device based on the indentation method using piezoelectric effect. The proposed device is designed to minimize the uncertainty caused by the layer structure of the skin when measuring the elasticity of the skin. And, we developed a piezoelectric-based thin-film pressure sensor that can measure quantitatively and quickly during repeated measurement as a device sensor. To confirm the effectiveness of the proposed measuring device, it was compared with the experimental results of the conventional measuring devices under the same experimental conditions, and statistical correlation analysis was performed between the experimental data of the proposed measuring device and the experimental data of the conventional measuring devices. As a result of the correlation analysis, it was confirmed that the proposed measuring device had a high correlation with the conventional measuring devices. Therefore, it was confirmed that the proposed skin elasticity measuring device was effective.

  • There are many risks in constructing tunnel-structure. To prevent these risks from occurring and secure safety, the precise and rapid survey of inside displacement of the tunnel is required. But nowadays the measurement of the crown settlement, convergency, and surface settlement depends on general kinds of method which use total station or level. In the way to provide data about maintaining structure according to recent improvement and progress of measuring technology, 3D laser scanning is used. It solves the problem of reliability in measuring displacement of existing structure, provides material that enables to estimate shape change of structure visually, and makes it possible to deliberate speedy countermeasure. By this three dimensioning it is possible to make efficient use of structure maintenance and field measurement

LiNAC실 벽체 구조물의 온도 균열 제어 (Thermal Crack Control of Wall Elements in LiNAC Structure)

  • This paper presents the analytical results on the heat of hydration and induced thermal cracking of the wall elements in LiNAC that is a radioactive shield concrete structure. This wall elements measuring 1.2 m in thickness and 32 m in length tend to exhibit thermal cracking due to heat of hydration and high constraint effects caused by slab element located in the lower part of structure. In this analysis, four different construction stages were considered to find out the most effective concrete casting method in terms of thermal stress. Among the construction methods adopted in this analysis, the method of installation of construction connection measuring 1.2 m at the both side of wall elements was very effective way to control the thermal stress, resulting in increase thermal cracking index of wall elements in LiNAC structure. Finally, the wall elements in LiNAC structure was cast successfully according to the proposed construction method.

Dismountable steel tensegrity grids as alternate roof structures

  • This paper reviews the concept of tensegrity structures and proposes a new type of dismountable steel tensegrity grids for possible deployment as light-weight roof structures. It covers the fabrication of the prototype structures followed by their instrumentation, destructive testing and numerical analysis. First, a single module, measuring $1m{\times}1m$ in size, is fabricated based on half-cuboctahedron configuration using galvanised iron (GI) pipes as struts and high tensile stranded cables as tensile elements. Detailed instrumentation of the structure is carried out right at the fabrication stage. The structure is thereafter subjected to destructive test during which the strain and the displacement responses are carefully monitored. The structure is modelled and analyzed using finite element method (FEM) and the model generated is updated with the experimental results. The investigations are then extended to a $2{\times}2$ grid, measuring $2m{\times}2m$ in size, fabricated uniquely by the cohesive integration of four single tensegrity modules. After updating and validating on the $2{\times}2$ grid, the finite element model is extended to a $8{\times}8$ grid (consisting of 64 units and measuring $8m{\times}8m$) whose behaviour is studied in detail for various load combinations expected to act on the structure. The results demonstrate that the proposed tensegrity grid structures are not only dismountable but also exhibit satisfactory behaviour from strength and serviceability point of view.

가연성 액체의 인화점 추정에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study of flash point determination for Alcohols & Aromatic Compounds.)

  • The flash point for flammable liquids (alcohol, aromatic compounds) were measured by Penskt-Martens's measuring apparatus with closed cup. As a result, it was observed that the flash points had the regular tendency according to the carbon number and the molecular structure. Consequently, the flash point for the alcohols were increased in proportion to the increase of the carbon number and branch number. The differences between the literature and experimental data are 14.6% for the relative error and 3.46$^{\circ}C$ in average for the measuring temperature.

하중에 따른 구조물 변위계측을 위한 근접수치사진측량의 정확도 분석 (Accuracy Analysis of Close-Range Digital Photogrammetry for Measuring Displacement about Loading to Structure)

  • 본 연구는 구조물의 변위계측에 있어 비접촉방법인 디지털 카메라를 이용한 근접수치사진측량을 이용한 실험결과를 제시한 것이다. 근접수치사진측량을 구조물 변위계측에 적용하기 위하여 본 연구에서는 카메라 자체검정을 통하여 기하학적 해석 정확도를 저해하는 렌즈의 왜곡에 대한 보정을 실시한 후 구조물의 변위계측을 위하여 자체제작한 라멘구조물에 각각의 하중을 재하하여 변위계측을 실시하였다. 또한 변위계측시 현장 적용성을 높이기 위하여 구조해석 프로그램인 MIDAS를 이용하여 모델링한 후 비교분석하였다. 그 결과 현재 구조물 안전진단에 활용되고 있는 LVDT, 케이블식변위계등 접촉식변위계가 가지고 있는 단점인 현장접근의 어려움, 설치비 과다등의 단점을 극복할 수 있는 가능성을 제시하였으며, 특히 실측 시간의 단축으로 인한 경제성을 확보할 수 있었다. 따라서 디지털 카메라를 이용한 근접수치사진측량은 구조물의 변위계측 뿐만 아니라 구조물의 3차원 모델링, 구조물의 실측형상재현 등 시각적 분석이 필요한 분야에 다양하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
