  • A study for the circularity of machine tool is classified into two ways. One is to measure the circularity of machine tool by a existing measuring device. The other is to measure the circularity by remodeling the existing measuring device. We will improve on measurement of circularity using circular test method by a two-dimensional probe and a master ring for machining tools and investigate influence of trigger method, acceleration data sampling.

  • The pupose of this study is the development of CAM system which can cut any shape by CNC lathe.. The overall goal of the CAM system is to achieve the CNC lathe machining, form roughing through to final measuring. The hardware of the system comprises PC and CNC lathe. There are three steps in the CNC lathe machining, (1) geometric modeling by the shape patterns, (2) NC commands generation by the tool path compensated for tool nose radius,(3) machining and workpiece measuring on the lathe. It is developed a software package, with which can conduct a micro CAM system in the PC without economical burden.

  • In general, a lot of small electrode is needed for making precision injection molds, such as cell phone mold and precision connector mold, because of the limitations of NC milling process. Those small electrodes usually have very simple shapes and the actual cutting time is so short, but many NC programs and set-up process, a very complicated and time consuming Job, are needed for each electrode. This paper deals the method for increasing the productivity of machining electrodes. In this work, the process standardization of machining electrode was done and special jig fer machining small electrodes was developed. Automatic tool path optimization software was also developed to minimize tool changing time. In addition, in-line cutting tool measuring system was adopted. The productivity of machining for small electrode has been increased up to $100\%$.

  • This research deals with evaluation of machining accuracy for Parallel Kinematic Machine Tool(PKMT) applied parallel type robot system with high precision and stiffness. For this purpose, machine simulation is carried out to foreknow collision and interference between workpiece and tool. Furthermore, on the basis of machine simulation data, PKMT is manufactured. Machining accuracy such as cylindricity straightness, squareness, parallelism circularity, concentricity pitch error and yaw error, is measured by using coordinate measuring machine. Test piece for evaluation of machining accuracy is designed and manufactured under the standard of ISO 10791-7.

  • In this paper, a methodology of geometrical error identification and compensation for NC machine tool position. We have proposed a reference artifact with which, in measuring the coordinate system of NC machine, the robust coordinate systems are given. The coordinate system of the NC machine could be compensated successfully with the information obtained by measuring the reference artifact and our compensation algorithm. Monte Carlo simulation is used to evaluate coordinate referencing ability and, the uncertainties of the machine tool position is estimated and observed through the compensation process by simulation.

  • In this paper, an aberration free aspherical lens is designed and machined by new design method and the spherical aberration measuring system is developed. It confirmed the propriety of new design method by measuring optical characteristics of machined lens with the new measuring system. The system could measure a spherical aberration quantitatively by using CCD camera, laser, collimator and so on.

  • In this task, the tool dynamometer design and manufacture, and the Ansys S/W structural analysis program for tool attachment that satisfies the cutting force measurement requirements of the tool dynamometer system are used to determine the cutting force generated by metal cutting using 3-axis static structural analysis and the LabVIEW system. The cutting power in a cutting process using a milling tool for processing metals provides useful information for understanding the processing, optimization, tool status monitoring, and tool design. Thus, various methods of measuring cutting power have been proposed. The device consists of a strain-gauge-based sensor fitted to a new design force sensing element, which is then placed in a force reduction. The force-sensing element is designed as a symmetrical cross beam with four arms of a rectangular parallel line. Furthermore, data duplication is eliminated by the appropriate setting the strain gauge attachment position and the construction of a suitable Wheatstone full-bridge circuit. This device is intended for use with rotating spindles such as milling tools. Verification and machining tests were performed to determine the static and dynamic characteristics of the tool dynamometer. The verification tests were performed by analyzing the difference between strain data measured by weight and that derived by theoretical calculations. Processing test was performed by attaching a tool dynamometer to the MCT to analyze data generated by the measuring equipment during machining. To maintain high productivity and precision, the system monitors and suppresses process disturbances such as chatter vibration, imbalances, overload, collision, forced vibration due to tool failure, and excessive tool wear; additionally, a tool dynamometer with a high signal-to-noise ratio is provided.

A Study on Development of the Digital Competence Measurement Tool for University Student

  • In this paper, we propose to develop a diagnosis tool for measuring digital competence for university student. To this end, 223 students participated for the survey research. Based on the survey by 6 domain and 40 questions, 6 factors and 18 questions for digital competence measurement were drawn throughout the factors analysis. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis showed the fact that 6 factors and 18 questions that satisfied the model-fit indexes statistically were finally confirmed. And the developed tool demonstrated good results in reliability and validity verification, which were suitable for measuring digital competence for university students. The developed measurement tool of digital competence for university students consisted of 6 sub-components such digital device operation, communication and collaboration, information searching, processing, and management, problem solving and learning, security, digital ethics. The digital competence measuring tool developed in this study is expected to be used to identify the current level of competences for university student, and to enhance their own digital competences through educational supports.

A study on the optimal conditions for machining accuracy when endmill fillet cutting at the corner (코너부 모깍기 엔드밀가공시 가공정밀도의 최적조건에 관한 연구)

  • Endmill fillet cutting at the corner was conducted with the online measurement of cutting forces and tool deflection by a tool dynamometer and an eddy current sensor system. The profile of the machined surface was also compared with the CAD profile with a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and CALYPSO software. It was found that the end mill cutter with four blades has a better surface profile than that with two blades, and the cutting forces and tool deformation were increased as the cutting speed was increased. When the tool located at the degree $45^{\circ}$ corner was found to conduct the maximum cutting force than started to the point of the workpiece. As it was compared with the CMM and ANOVA analysis result in the case that the cutting force and tool deformation was the maximum, it was found that the result was affected by the spindle speed and the number of blades.

Development of 3 dimensional Automatic Polishing System (3차원 자동 연마장치의 개발)

  • Recently, new polishing tool which was made by magnetic intelligent compound(Magic) was invented. The distribution of abrasives in this new tool can be controlled by magnetic field. Therefore, we can make a special polishing tool which has well arranged abrasives after cooling. In this study, 3 dimensional polishing machine was developed in order to polish complicated - shaped inner surfaces of molds. The performance of developed machine was investigated by measuring the roughness of polished surface using new polishing tool.
