  • The patients who visited the Health Promotion Center were compared between the visceral fat area according to CT fat measurement position and the visceral fat area measured by Inbody. In the CT measurement, the visceral fat area measured at the L4-5 and CT Umbilicus positions was not different regardless of gender. In addition, there was no difference between CT visceral fat area and Inbody visceral fat area in the correlation between visceral fat area according to CT measurement position and visceral fat area measured by Inbody. The highly correlated CT measurement position were male L4-5, L5-S1, female L3-4, L4-5, L5-S1, and Umbilicus. In addition, when studying the relationship between the inbody visceral fat area and CT visceral fat area regardless of gender, it is suggested to compare the visceral fat area at the CT L4-5 position.

  • This paper proposes a compensating algorithm for the secondary current of the measurement current transformer (CT) that removes the effects of the hysteresis characteristics of the iron-core. The exciting current resulting from the hysteresis characteristics of the core causes an error between the primary current and the secondary current of the measurement CT. The exciting current can be decomposed into the magnetizing current and the core loss current. The core loss current is obtained from the measured secondary current and the core loss resistance. The core flux linkage is calculated by integrating the measured secondary current, and then inserted into the flux-magnetizing current curve to obtain the magnetizing current. The exciting current at every sampling interval is obtained by summing the core-loss and magnetizing currents and then added to the measured current to obtain the correct current. The performance of the proposed algorithm is validated under various conditions using EMTP generated data. The results indicate that the proposed algorithm can improve the accuracy of the measurement CT significantly, and thus reduce the size and the cost of the measurement CT.

  • In this study, the accuracy and usefulness of volume measurement were investigated as a phantom experiment using CT and USG scan data and a clinical trial using patient scan data. As a result, there was no significant difference between the volume of the actual round phantom of various volumes for both the CT and ultrasound devices (p>0.05). As a result of statistical analysis, it was analyzed that there was no significant difference (p>0.05). Clinical application of this result requires more clinical trials, but if a CT or ultrasound device is selected and applied in consideration of patient radiation exposure, the examiner's scanning technology, and CT reconstruction experience, the basic data in terms of the usefulness of volume measurement using CT scan image is considered to have application value.

  • Computed tomography (CT) scan room in the department of radiology is very necessary to maintain pleasant and proper illuminance to relieve fatigue and inconvenience because it affects the work environment to the radiologist. Accordingly, this paper describes the method for measurement of illuminance that exposed to an environmental elements in a CT scan room of the hospital. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to propose an optimal environment of CT scan room based on the measurement of illuminance. In addition, the 5 point method by KS C7612 was applied to measure the illuminance with illuminometer (Unfors xi light probe) in the CT scan room. In result of this paper, minimum value and maximum value of illuminance in the CT scan room was measured 212.7 lux and 354.8 lux, respectively. The illuminance of CT scan room was lower than KS A 3011. Finally, the work environment in CT scan room should provide higher illuminance for the comfortable environment of radiologists and patients.

  • To investigate the effects of iterative reconstruction algorithms on fat measurements using computed tomography (CT), we comparatively and quantitatively analyzed the ratios of visceral, subcutaneous, and visceral-subcutaneous fat areas as well as the variations of HU and noise of visceral and subcutaneous fat using ADMIRE strength and attempted to identify any difference between them. Experimental results showed that no statistically significant difference existed among the visceral, subcutaneous, and visceral-subcutaneous fat area ratios HU of visceral fat area and HU of subcutaneous fat area when applying ADMIRE as compared with existing conventional filtered back projection algorithms. However, as the ADMIRE strength increases, the noise of visceral and subcutaneous fat decreases by up to 12.1% and 19.2%, respectively. In conclusion, iterative reconstruction algorithms have no effect on the visceral, subcutaneous, and visceral-subcutaneous fat area ratios, which are indicators of fat measurement using CT.

  • Objective: We performed a meta-analysis to evaluate the agreement of cardiac computed tomography (CT) with cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMRI) in the assessment of right ventricle (RV) volume and functional parameters. Materials and Methods: PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane library were systematically searched for studies that compared CT with CMRI as the reference standard for measurement of the following RV parameters: end-diastolic volume (EDV), end-systolic volume (ESV), stroke volume (SV), or ejection fraction (EF). Meta-analytic methods were utilized to determine the pooled weighted bias, limits of agreement (LOA), and correlation coefficient (r) between CT and CMRI. Heterogeneity was also assessed. Subgroup analyses were performed based on the probable factors affecting measurement of RV volume: CT contrast protocol, number of CT slices, CT reconstruction interval, CT volumetry, and segmentation methods. Results: A total of 766 patients from 20 studies were included. Pooled bias and LOA were 3.1 mL (-5.7 to 11.8 mL), 3.6 mL (-4.0 to 11.2 mL), -0.4 mL (5.7 to 5.0 mL), and -1.8% (-5.7 to 2.2%) for EDV, ESV, SV, and EF, respectively. Pooled correlation coefficients were very strong for the RV parameters (r = 0.87-0.93). Heterogeneity was observed in the studies (I2 > 50%, p < 0.1). In the subgroup analysis, an RV-dedicated contrast protocol, ≥ 64 CT slices, CT volumetry with the Simpson's method, and inclusion of the papillary muscle and trabeculation had a lower pooled bias and narrower LOA. Conclusion: Cardiac CT accurately measures RV volume and function, with an acceptable range of bias and LOA and strong correlation with CMRI findings. The RV-dedicated CT contrast protocol, ≥ 64 CT slices, and use of the same CT volumetry method as CMRI can improve agreement with CMRI.

  • This paper introduces a gamma-ray measurement system for a transportable tomography which is applicable for an industrial process diagnosis. The gamma-ray measurement system consists of pulse mode operating 72 channel CsI detectors, main AMP-pulse shaper, single channel analyzer, counter and control PC. The CsI crystal is coupled with a PIN diode which is connected to an amplifier and pulse shaper. For a compact design, the amplifier and pulse shaping circuit are included in a single package. 36 sets of CsI detectors are connected to a multi-channel counter through single channel analyzers. A computer controls and collects data from two multi-channel counters. This configuration results in 72 channel counting system in total. The CT rotator and radiation measurement system are controlled by a PC with LabVIEW program. Tomographic data were measured for a phantom by the measurement system and transportable gamma-ray CT. From the experimental data image reconstructions were performed by ML-EM algorithm. The result showed that the CsI detector system can be a suitable component for transportable gamma-ray CT system.

  • An automatic excitation characteristics measurement system for the protective relaying current transformer(CT) with accuracy of about 1 % has been developed. The system can be used up to 2 kV and 10 A at power frequency. The developed system can calculate the voltage and current at knee points of $30^{\circ}$ and $45^{\circ}$ tangents in accordance with IEEE standard by the interpolation in log scale. The excitation curve of the CT is plotted in auto-scale simultaneously with measuring rms voltage and current at the secondary of the CT.

  • In this paper, as a new measurement method to estimate the change of material condition, the simplified ultrasonic CT system, which uses the information of three directions, that is, $90^{\circ}$, $+45^{\circ}C$and $-45^{\circ}C$ about inspection plane is proposed. Use of simplified CT system has two merits: Firstly, the measurement time is very short compared with general CT. Secondly, it can detect sensitively small defect in vertical or slant direction about inspection plane because the obtained image is CT image calculated from three directions. From these merits, this method can be considered as an effective method to evaluate material conditions. The basic performance of the proposed method was confirmed through several specimens with several simple defects. In order to confirm the applicability of actual NDT, several kinds of welded specimens are investigated. The result showed that the CT image obtained had good agreement with actual defect of specimens.
