  • Objectives : The word, Simju are usually regarded as Simpo. However, I recognized that Simju was not Simpo in Huandinsijing. Therefore, I tried to find out the meaning of Simju in Huangdineijing and also tried to find out the meaning of Simpo, Simporak and Porak in Huangdineijing because those words are related to Simju. Methods : I referred several annotations, which explained the words ; Simju, Simpo, Simporak, Porak and classified the meanings. Results : 22 Simju out of 25 in Huangdineijing didn't mean Simpo. Those meant Gwoleum of Sugwoleum. Rest of 2 Simju meant heart and 1 meant Simpo. Only one Simju meant Simpo even thogh Simju are usually regarded as Simpo. Conclusions : The word couldn't mean the same meaning comparing to what are usually used as a certain meaning, so researchers could consider to treat several words' meaning by time and places.

  • In a prevailing view of meaning and reference (cf. Frege 1892), words pick out entities in the physical world by virtue of meaning. Linguists and philosophers have argued whether the meaning of a word is inside or out-side language users' mind; but, in general, they have taken it for granted that words refer to entities in the physical world. Hilary Putnam (1975), based on his famous twin-earth thought experiment, argued that the meaning of a word could not be inside language users' head. In this paper, I point out that Putnam's argument makes sense only if words refer to entities in the physical world. That is, Putnam did not provide any argument against mentalistic semantics, since he erroneously assumed that meaning, but not reference, was inside our mind in mentalistic semantics. Mentalistic semanticist, however, assume that words pick out their references inside our head (instead of a possible outside world). A number of arguments for the mentalistic position come from psychology: studies on emotion and visual perception provide numerous cases where words cannot pick out entities from the physical world, but inside our head. The mentalistic theory has desirable consequences for the philosophy of language in that some classical puzzles of language (e.g. Russell's (1919) well-known puzzle of excluded middle) are explained well in the proposed theory.

For this purpose, 41 Apparel Brands were selected from fashion magazine and the types of symbol used in the Apparel Brands were classified into three types. According to the formative characters of symbol, there were word symbol, descriptive symbol and abstractive symbol. The results of the study were following: the order was the descriptive symbol, word symbol, and abstractive symbol. The percentages of using symbols were descriptive symbol(61%), word symbol(29%), and abstractive symbol(l0%). The Apparel Brands used the most frequently the descriptive symbol that represents or symbolizes a concrete object to represent the image of brand. The abstractive symbol that use a graphic style or geometrical form to deliver the character of brand was used lowest. From this results, we could find that the descriptive symbol was used to deliver/notify the character or image of company's own brand easy and quickly to consumers in symbolic meaning making use of a concrete object such as a animal, plant, specific object or fictitious person, etc than word or abstractive symbol.

  • This study is concerned with the slsl 瑟瑟. The identity, origins of the word, kinds, the place of production, and the sues of he sl sl were examined. The world sl sl means the sapphire. The Chinese word se se(seh seh), 瑟瑟 was derived from the Hebrew word, she she meaning marble. The use, meaning and the phonetic value of the sl sl between the Chinese and the Hebrew were the same each other. It indicates that the Chinese word se se(seh seh) was the transliteration of the Hebrew word she she. The sl sl were produced in the Middle East Asia and the sl sl used in ancient China was mainly originated from the Middle East Asia. The sl sl of Silla was also the sapphire and it was an article of the imported goods from the Middle East Asia. • Objectives : The paper raises an objection to the word '涕' being used to refer to nasal discharge, and proposes a word for nasal discharge upon studying a set of medical books. Methods : The author finds and confirms the dictionary definition of '涕' and studies how they are used differently in medical books. Through this study, the author shows how the word '涕' is used incorrectly and makes deductions for its reason. The author takes a look at the old form of the word '涕', its etymological origin, takes a guess as to the real word that should have been used to refer to nasal discharge, and find examples of instances where this correct word for nasal discharge are more appropriate. Results & Conclusions : In medical books such as Huangdineijing Suwen, '涕' is used to mean nasal discharge, but the word's dictionary definition does not validate such usage. Yugunryeombu (劉君廉夫), in its commentary for Somun, used '?' and '鼻夷' for '涕', and '?' means nasal discharge and used as same as '涕' when its used to mean tear. This is a phenomenon that originated from '弟' and '夷' being used interchangeably which led to the incorrect usage of '?'. If someone were to refer to nasal discharge, he needs to use '?'. '鼻夷' is believed to be the same word as '弟鼻', which is the old form of '?', and it means both tear(pronounced 'Che') and nasal discharge(pronounced 'Je'). However, the pronunciation different between 'Che' and 'Je', and its definition as tear, is divided in later periods into '涕' following the shape of '弟'. Following the shape of '夷', the meaning of nasal discharge remains in '?' while retaining the pronunciation of 'yi'. Therefore, the word '涕' used to mean nasal discharge is an incorrect form of '?', and should all be re-written to '?'.
