  • Background & Aims : The aim of this study was to investigate the change of dominant power with observation of gastric myoelectrical activity and its parameter linkage in electrogastrography. Methods : Electrogastrography was performed on a total of 123 subjects (113 patients with functional dyspepsia, 10 healthy controls) for 30 min in fasting state and 50 min in postprandial state. Average myoelectrical activity per frequency and accumulated electrical activity of 5 min duration in each bradygastria, normogastria, and tachygastria were measured at the moment of frequency switchover of slow wave. Assumed parameter linkages were also investigated among dominant frequency, % of normal regularity, and dominant power (or power ratio). Results : Average myoelectrical activity per frequency was highest in bradygastria (mean 1.10-1.47 Volt/s), next highest in normogastria (mean 0.50-0.82 Volt/s), and lowest in tachygastria (mean 0.44-0.47 Volt/s). Average accumulated myoelectrical activity was highest in normogastria (mean 114.90-126.29 Volt/ss), next highest in tachygastria (mean 71.02-90.00 Volt/ss), and lowest in bradygastria (mean 12.93-51.94 Volt/ss). Significance of parameter linkages were noted in dominant frequency (p< 0.01) and in % of normal regularity (p< 0.01), but not in dominant power in case of frequency shift from bradygastria to normogastria (p=0.376). Conclusion : Dominant power is not a parameter that reflects the gastric myoelectrical activity related with only gastric contraction. Bradygastric dominant power does not follow the inter-parameter linkage of electrogastrography for gastric motility assessment.

  • This paper deals with the problem of testing mean change with one change-point with the normal random variables. We propose a test with the mean difference for change in a location parameter. A power comparison study of various change-point test statistics is performed via Monte Carlo simulation with S-plus software.

  • A multiplex PCR system comprising 14 microsatellite markers was developed for genotyping analysis of the sea cucumber Stichopus japonicus. A total of 286 samples were used to evaluate genetic polymorphisms and forensic parameters of the microsatellite loci. In a single PCR reaction, all 14 loci were uniformly amplified and a total of 269 alleles were identified. The AJ19024 locus had the largest number of alleles (46), and its discriminatory power and exclusion power were 0.99 and 0.76, respectively. The fewest alleles (8) were present at the Psj2575 locus, which provided the lowest discriminatory power (0.81) and exclusion power (0.20). The mean number of alleles, mean heterozygosity, mean discrimination power and mean exclusion power per locus were 19.21, 0.70, 0.93, and 0.46, respectively. The combined matching probability for the 14 loci was $9.64{\times}10^{-19}$, and the combined power of exclusion was 0.999995. Thus, the forensic parameters evaluated in the present study demonstrated the utility of our multiplex PCR system for biological tracing methods, such as individual identification and paternity testing, in the sea cucumber.

  • We derive a new joint power and rate control rule with which we can minimize the mean transmission delay in CDMA networks for a given mean transmission power. We show that it is optimal to respectively control the power inverse-linearly and the rate linearly to the square root of channel gain while maintaining the signal-to-interference ratio at a constant. We also show that the proposed joint power/rate control rule achieves excellent performance results in terms of the probability of the instantaneous delay being within a target delay against one-dimensional control schemes.

  • We shall propose the MME MLE and UMVUE for the mean parameter and the right-tail probability in a power function distribution and obtain the mean squared errors for the proposed estimators. And we shall compare numerically efficiencies of the MME MLE and UMVUE of the mean parameter and the right-tail probability in a power function distribution.

  • An analysis on the corneal diopter power and corneal radius has been carried out the Korean female in the twenties age. The results were as follows. The most contact lens wears have the early stage of the twenties age, but the increase of aging have a decrease. The mean corneal diopter power on the right eye have 44.04 diopter, but left eye have 43.92 diopter. The mean of corneal radius on the right eye have the 7.66 mm, but left eye have the 7.69 mm. As a results, In increasing of the age, Most mean corneal diopter power have increase, but the mean of corneal radius have not change.

  • Among k independent normal populations with unknown means and a common unknown variance, the problem of detecting the population with the largest absolute value of mean is considered. This problem is formulated in a manner close to the framework of testing hypotheses, and the maximum error probability and the minimum power are considered. The power charts necessary to determine the sample size are provided. The problem of detecting the population with the smallest absolute value of mean is also considered.

  • This study analyzes characteristics of phytoplankton communities around Wolseong nuclear power plant by selecting 16 stations from July 2006 to June 2007 and understands the influences on standing crops and chlorophyll a of phytoplankton by passing through the cooling water system. The total species number is 283, among which diatoms is 208 occupying 73.5% of total taxa. The mean of total standing crops is 469,380-3,704,114 cells L-1. It is the highest in April 2007 because blooming of Chaetoceros socialis occurs during this period. The mean standing crops of microplankton and nanoplankton are average 129,666-3,392,640 cells L-1 and 240,943-650,505 cells L-1 respectively, which occupy 54.01% and 46.54% of total standing crops. The mean concentrations of total chlorophyll a is 0.64-5.39 μg L-1. The mean concentrations of chlorophyll a of microplankton, nanoplankton and picoplankton are 1.33 μg L-1, 0.21 μg L-1 and 0.49 μg L-1 respectively. Dominant species around Wolseong neclear power plant during this study are Chaetoceros debilis, Chaetoceros socialis, Leptocylindrus danicus, Pseudo-nitzschia fraudulenta, P. subfraudulenta and Thalassiosira decipiens. Fluctuation rates of standing crops and chlorophyll a concentrations of phytoplankton passing through the cooling water system are 22.80% and 50.48% respectively. Decrease of standing crops and chlorophyll a concentrations of phytoplankton means that community structure of phytoplnakton may change at the discharge areas.
