  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of restaurant environment upon customers' satisfaction and crowdedness awareness from July 4 to 30. Total 800 sets of questionnaire were distributed among major foodservice corporations including 16 restaurants from McDonald, Burger King, Popeyes, KFC, Ritz Carlton, Intercontinental, The Westin Chosun, Hilton, Merriot, Outback Steak House, Bennigans, VIPS, Pizza Hut, Pul-hyanggi(Scent of grass), Nolboo Co., and Our Story. They received 50 sets each to hand out to their customers. Out of total 800 sets of questionnaires, 592 sets (74.25%) were retrieved and underwent the Multiple Regression Analysis. We found the following results from the study. First, among each variable of restaurant environment that had a significant effect on crowdedness, "fast service" and "responsiveness to customer complaints" scored a regression coefficient value 0.381 and 0.325 respectively. Second, among each restaurant environment factor that had a significant effect on crowdedness, "quality of facilities" scored the highest regression coefficient value 0.423 with a standard error score 0.1074, followed by "condition of waiting", "overall ambience" and "service quality" in ascending order. Third, in the analysis of the effect of each environmental factor upon the satisfaction rate, "condition of waiting" showed the highest regression coefficient value 0.3821 with a standard error score 0.4565, followed by "cleanliness", "service quality" and "convenience', in ascending order.

  • An asteroid family is a group of asteroidal objects in the proper orbital element space (a, e, and i), considered to have been produced by a disruption of a large parent body through a catastrophic collision. Family members usually have similar surface properties such as spectral taxonomy types, colors, and visible geometric albedo with a same dynamical age. Therefore an asteroid family could be called as a natural Solar System laboratory and is also regarded as a powerful tool to investigate space weathering and non-gravitational phenomena such as the Yarkovsky/YORP effects. We carry out time series photometric observations for a number of asteroid families to obtain their physical properties, including sizes, shapes, rotational periods, spin axes, colors, and H-G parameters based on nearly round-the-clock observations, using several 0.5-2 meter class telescopes in the Northern hemisphere, including BOAO 1.8 m, LOAO 1.0 m, SOAO 0.6 m facilities in KASI, McDonald Observatory 2.1 m instrument, NARIT 2.4 m and TUG 1.0 m telescopes. This study is expected to find, for the first time, some important clues on the collisional history in our Solar System and the mechanisms where the family members are being transported from the resonance regions in the Main-belt to the near Earth space.

  • Star formation in galaxies is one of the key factors in galaxy evolution. It is believed that star formation is triggered and enhanced by mergers among galaxies or secular evolution. However, how much these two mechanisms contribute on star formation is not well known yet. Recently, many other studies show observational evidences of faint merger features(tidal tails, stellar streams) around nearby galaxies with deep optical imaging. This study aims to investigate the fraction of star forming galaxies exhibiting faint features to total galaxies. We are analyzing samples of 76 star forming galaxies (NUV < -18) to find merger features from stacked B, R band frames taken at Maidanak 1.5m, McDonald 2.1m telescope and g, r frames from Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (CFHT) MegaCam archival data. With the fraction, we can expect to know the contribution of mergers on star formation to galaxies.

  • Camera for QUasars in EArly uNiverse (CQUEAN) is an optical CCD camera attached to the 2.1m Otto Struve telescope at the McDonald Observatory, USA. CCD output signal contains the electrons generated by photoionization of incident light and thermal ionization. Therefore reliable photometric result can be obtained only under the stable condition of CCD thermal properties. We investigated the temperature dependency of the various characteristics of CQUEAN CCD chip, including bias level, dark level, gain, and quantum efficiency (QE), with the CQUEAN observation and calibration data obtained during 2012 May run. We discuss the environmental effects, i.e., ambient temperature, as well as CCD temperature on the stability of its characteristics.

  • We present the results of SDSS r, i and z band photometry for HBC722 (also known as $LkH{\alpha}$ 188 G4, PTF10qpf and V2493 Cyg), with Camera for Quasars in Early uNiverse (CQUEAN) attached to 2.1m Otto Struve telescope at McDonald Observatory, USA. HBC722 is a newly erupted FU Orionis type object, which produced optical outburst (${\Delta}V$=4.7 mag) over a year that peaked in 2010 September. We carried out the monitoring observations during 48 nights from 2011 April to 2012 June to check the short-term and the long-term variabilities for chasing the Keplerian rotation of the system. Comparing the photometric results of r, i and z band, we describe the color variability which is related to the physical properties of the system like circumstellar disk and accretion process.

  • Heat losses from the receivers of a dish-type solar energy collecting system at the Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER) are numerically investigated. It is assumed that a number of flat square mirrors are arranged on the parabolic dish structure to serve as a reflector. Two different types of receivers, which have conical and dome shapes, are considered for the system, and several modes of heat losses from the receivers are thoroughly studied. Using the Stine and McDonald model convective heat loss from a receiver is estimated. The Net Radiation Method is used to calculate the radiation heat transfer rate by emission from the inside surface of the cavity receiver to the environment. The Monte-Carlo Method is used to predict the radiation heat transfer rate from the reflector to the receiver. Tracing the photons generated, the reflection loss from the receivers can be estimated. The radiative heat flux distribution produced by a multifaceted parabolic concentrator on the focal plane is estimated using the cone optics method. Also, the solar radiation spillage around the aperture is calculated. Based on the results of the analysis, the performances of two different receivers with multifaceted parabolic solar energy collectors are evaluated.

  • The observation of transient objects such as supernovae or variable stars requires a survey of the wide sky and quickly extracting the results. In accordance with this purpose, we have been developing an automatic observing software, KAOS (Kyung Hee University Automatic Observing Software) as a series. KAOS30 was the first series of KAOS and it was applied to the 30-inch platform at the McDonald Observatory in the United States of America. KAOS76 controls the 76-cm telescope at Kyung Hee Astronomical Observatory. In this poster, we introduce KAOS10 for controlling a portable telescope with a small aperture size attaching a guiding camera as QHY-5L II. Kyung Hee University auto-guiding package which includes the auto-guiding function for small aperture size telescope was also developed. Additionally, the Telescope Control Package(TCP) can communicate with the main server to do astrometry for pointing and identifying targets efficiently. KAOS10 has a universal interface that will be useful for the research of both amateurs and professionals.

  • In astronomical observation, sequential device control and real-time data processing are important to maximize observing efficiency. We have developed series of automatic observing software (KAOS, KHU Automatic Observing Software), e.g. KAOS30 for the 30 inch telescope in the McDonald Observatory and KAOS76 for the 76 cm telescope in the KHAO. The series consist of four packages: the DAP (Data Acquisition Package) for CCD Camera control, the TCP (Telescope Control Package) for telescope control, the AFP (Auto Focus Package) for focusing, and the SMP (Script Mode Package) for automation of sequences. In this poster, we introduce KAOS10 which is being developed for controlling a small telescope such as aperture size of 10 cm. The hardware components are the QHY8pro CCD, the QHY5-II CMOS, the iOptron CEM 25 mount, and the Stellarvue SV102ED telescope. The devices are controlled on ASCOM Platform. In addition to the previous packages (DAP, SMP, TCP), KAOS10 has QLP (Quick Look Package) and astrometry function in the TCP. QHY8pro CCD has RGB Bayer matrix and the QLP transforms RGB images into BVR images in real-time. The TCP includes astrometry function which adjusts the telescope position by comparing the image with a star catalog. In the future, We expect KAOS10 be used on the research of transient objects such as a variable star.

  • The TXS0506+056 is a blazar and counterpart of the neutrino event IceCube-170922A. It is the first time that the neutrino event and flaring event in electromagnetic wave (EM) coincided. We observed TXS0506+056 with medium-bands in optical using 0.25m and 2.1m telescope at McDonald observatory about a month after the neutrino event. We tracked the variability of SED of the target for three weeks, and our observation showed no abrupt variability in optical range during this period. We concluded that a month after the neutrino event, the TXS0506+056 became less active and shows no feature of the energetic event. We also concluded that the medium-bands are well suited for tracking SEDs of objects. Our result demonstrates the potential of the wide-field 0.25m telescope (5.5 deg^2) for finding transient objects and track the variability of sources like AGNs.
