We demonstrated a crack-free ${\alpha}-Ga_2O_3$ on sapphire substrate by horizontal halide vapor phase epitaxy (HVPE). Oxygen-and gallium chloride-synthesized Ga metal and HCl were used as the precursors, and $N_2$ was used as the carrier gas. The HCl flow and growth temperature were controlled in the ranges of 10~30 sccm and $450{\sim}490^{\circ}C$, respectively. The surface of ${\alpha}-Ga_2O_3$ template grown at $470^{\circ}C$ was flat and the root-mean-square (RMS) roughness was ~2 nm. The full width at half maximum (FWHM) values for the symmetric-plane diffractions, were as small as 50 arcsec and those for the asymmetric-plane diffractions were as high as 1,800 arcsec. The crystal quality of ${\alpha}-Ga_2O_3$ on sapphire can be controlled by varying the HCl flow rate and growth temperature.

Ion beam assisted deposition(IBAD) technique was used to produce biaxially textured polycrystalline MgO thin films for high critical current YBCO coated conductor. Hastelloy tapes were continuous electropolished with very smooth surface for IBAD-MgO deposition, RMS roughness of Hastelloy tape values below 2 nm and local slope of less than $1^{\circ}$. After the polishing of the tape an amorphous $Y_2O_3$ and $Al_2O_3$ are deposited Biaxially textured MgO was deposited on amorphous layer bye-beam evaporation with a simultaneous bombardment of high energy ions. We had developed the RHEED to measure in-situ biaxial texture of film surface as thin as tens angstrom. And also ex-situ characterization of buffer layers was studied using XRD and SEM. The full-width at half maximum(FWHM) out of plane texture of IBAD-MgO template is $4^{\circ}$.
The adhesion and proliferation of mammalian cells on polymeric biomaterials depend on the surface characteristics such as wettability, chemistry, charge and roughness. In order to recognize the correlation between the adhesion and proliferation of human bone marrow derived stem cells (BMSCs) and surface property, radio frequency generated plasma treatment on low density polyethylene (LDPE) has been carried out. The modified LDPE surfaces were characterized by measuring the static water contact angle. The adhesion and proliferation of cells on LDPE films were characterized by cell counting and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). The water contact angle of the film surface decreased with plasma treatment time. Proto-oncogenes (c-myc, c-fos) and tumor suppressor gene (p153) showed maximum expression with contact angle of 60 ∼ 70$^{\circ}$ range of LDPE film. By cell counting, we confirmed that the rate of cell proliferation appeared the higher on the film surface of the contact angle of 60∼70$^{\circ}$ We concluded that the surface wettability is an important role for the growth and differentiation of BMSCs.
Ti-6Al-4V alloy are widely used in chemical and aircraft industries for their good corrosion resistance and high strength to weight ratio. Surface alloying of Ti alloy by $CO_2$ laser is able to produce few hundred micrometers thick TiN surface-alloyed layer with high hardness on the substrate very simplely by injecting reaction gas($N_2$) into a laser-generated melt pool and adjust the hardness to the specific requirements of the individual application by changing of laser processing parameters. This research has been investigated the effect of such parameters on TiN surface-alloying of Ti-6Al-4V alloy by $CO_2$ laser. The maximum hardness of TiN surface-alloyed zone waw obtained by injecting 100% $N_2$ gas and it was decreased as the amount of $N_2$ gas in Ar and $N_2$ gas mixture was decreased. As scanning speed was increased, the hardness and depth of TiN surface-alloyed zone was decreased at constant laser power. The surface hardness after double scanning laser treatment is higher than that of single scanning. At constant laser power, the surface roughness is increased after the surface alloying if laser scanning speed is decreased.

A flat-type piezoelectric ceramic ultrasonic transmitter was successfully fabricated for application in acoustic devices with cone-free diaphragms. The transmitter, possessing a center frequency of 40.6 kHz, exhibited a higher displacement characteristic for a multilayer type compared with a single layer type. Surface roughness treatment of an Al elastic diaphragm influenced a slight increase (1.1 dB) in the sound pressure level (SPL) at $10V_{rms}$ due to the enlarged surface area. The fabricated multilayer piezoelectric ceramic ultrasonic transmitter showed increasing SPL with increasing input voltage, with a maximum SPL of approximately 123.6 dB at $10V_{rms}$. This implies a doubly increased SPL density of $3.6dB/mm^3$, superior to that of a commercial open-type transmitter with a cone.
If sewage flows for an extended time at low velocities, solids may be deposited in the sewer. Sufficient velocity or tractive force should be developed regularly to flush out any solids that may have been deposited during low flow periods. This study aims to evaluate the periods (T) during which sewage flow greater than the minimum tractive force maintains on a spot in sewer pipe system with lower tractive force or lower velocity than expected in the design step, when a storage tank installed in a place upsteam pours water into the sewer. The effect to T of design factors of storage tank and sewer pipes was evaluated assuming the uniform flow in sewers. When the area of orifice in the storage tank is $0.062m^2$(or 0.28 m diameter), the maximum T of 31sec was maintained using the usually used preset range of values of several design factors. As the horizontal cross section of storage tank and water depth of storage tank and roughness in sewers increase, T linearly increases. Also, T linearly decreases as the diameter of a sewer pipe increases. Although T gradually decreases as the sewer pipe slope decreases to around 0.005, T decreases sharply when the slope is less than 0.003.

Background and Objectives Functional aphonia refers to in which by presenting whispering voice and almost producing very high-pitched tensed voices are produced. Voice therapy is the most effective treatment, but there is a lack of consensus for application of voice therapy. The purpose of this study was to examine the vocal characteristics of functional aphonia and the effect of voice therapy applied accordingly. Materials and Method From October 2019 to December 2020, 11 patients with functional aphonia were treated using voice therapy which was processing three stages such as vocal hygiene, trial therapy, and behavioral therapy. Of these, 7 patients who completed the voice evaluation before and after voice therapy was enrolled in this study. By retrospective chart review, clinical information such as sex, age, symptoms, duration, social and medical history, process of voice therapy, subjective and objective findings were analyzed. Voice parameters before and after voice therapy were compared. Results In GRBAS study, grade, rough, and asthenic, and in Consensus Auditory-Perceptual Evaluation of Voice, overall severity, roughness, pitch, and loudness were significantly improved after voice therapy. In Voice handicap index, all of the scores of total and sub-categories were significantly decreased. In objective voice analysis, jitter, cepstral peak prominence, and maximum phonation time were significantly improved. Conclusion The voice therapy was effective for the treatment of functional aphonia by restoring patient's vocalization and improving voice quality, pitch and loudness.

The 5 wt.% Ga-doped zinc oxide (GZO) thin films were fabricated on PES substrates with various RF power 50~80 W by using RF magnetron sputtering in order to investigate the optical and electrical properties of GZO thin films. The XRD measurement showed that GZO thin films exhibit c-axis orientation. At a RF power of 70W, the GZO thin film showed the highest (002) diffraction peak with a Full-Width-Half-Maximum (FWHM) of $0.44^{\circ}$. AFM analysis showed that the lowest surface roughness (0.20 nm) was obtained for the GZO thin film fabricated at 70 W of RF power. The electrical property indicated that the minimum resistivity ($6.93{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$) and maximum carrier concentration ($7.04{\times}10^{20}cm^{-3}$) and hall mobility ($12.70cm^2/Vs$) were obtained in the GZO thin film fabricated at 70W of RF power. The optical transmittance in the visible region was higher than 80 %, regardless of RF power. The optical band-gap showed the slight blue-shift with increased in carrier concentration which can be explained by the Burstein-Moss effect.

The surface conductive layer (SCL) of chemical vapor deposition (CVD) diamonds has attracting much interest. However, neither photoemission electron microscopic (PEEM) nor micro-spectroscopic (PEEMS) information is available so far. Since SCL retains in an ultra-high vacuum (UHV) condition, PEEM or PEEMS study will give an insight of SCL, which is the subject of the present study. The sample was made on a Ib-type HTHP diamond (001) substrate by non-doping CVD growthin a DC-plasma deposition chamber. The SCL properties of the sample in air were; a few tens K/Sq. in sheet resistance, ${\sim}180\;cm^2/vs$ in Hall mobility, ${\sim}2{\times}10^{12}/cm^2$ in carrier concentration. The root-square-mean surface roughness (Rq) of the sample was ~0.2nm as checked by AFM. A $2{\times}1$ LEED pattern and a sheet resistance of several hundreds K/Sq. in UHV were checked in a UHV chamber with an in-situ resist-meter [1]. The sample was then installed in a commercial PEEM/S apparatus (Omicron FOCUS IS-PEEM) which was composed of electro-static-lens optics together with an electron energy-analyzer. The presence of SCL was regularly monitored by measuring resistance between two electrodes (colloidal graphite) pasted on the two ends of sample surface. Figure 1 shows two PEEM images of a same area of the sample; a) is excited with a Hg-lamp and b) with a Xe-lamp. The maximum photon energy of the Hg-lamp is ~4.9 eV which is smaller that the band gap energy ($E_G=5.5\;eV$) of diamond and the maximum photon energy of the Xe-lamp is ~6.2 eV which is larger than $E_G$. The image that appear with the Hg-lamp can be due to photo-excitation to unoccupied states of the hydrogen-terminated negative electron affinity (NEA) diamond surface [2]. Secondary electron energy distribution of the white background of Figs.1a) and b) indeed shows that the whole surface is NEA except a large black dot on the upper center. However, Figs.1a) and 1b) show several features that are qualitatively different from each other. Some of the differences are the followings: the two main dark lines A and B in Fig.1b) are not at all obvious and the white lines B and C in Fig.1b) appear to be dark lines in Fig.1a). A PEEMS analysis of secondary electron energy distribution showed that all of the features A-D have negative electron affinity with marginal differences among them. These differences can be attributed to differences in the details of energy band bending underneath the surface present in SCL [3].

When yields the mean velocity of the closed conduit which is used generally, it is available to use Darcy Weisbach Friction Loss Head equation. But, it is inconvenient very because Friction Loss coefficient f is the function of Reynolds Number and Relative roughness (${\varepsilon}$/d). So, it is demanded more convenient equation to estimate. In order to prove the reliability and an accuracy of Chiu's velocity equation from the research which sees hereupon, proved agreement very well about measured velocity measurement data by using Laser velocimeter which is a non-insertion velocity measuring equipment from the closed conduit (Laser Doppler Velocimeter: LDV) and an insertion velocity measuring equipment and the Pitot tube which is a supersonic flow meter (Transit-Time Flowmeters). By proving theoretical linear-relation between maximum velocity and mean velocity in laboratory flume without increase and decrease of discharge, the equilibrium state of velocity in the closed conduit which reachs to equilibrium state corresponding to entropy parameter M value has a trend maintaining consistently this state. If entropy M value which is representing one section is determinated, mean velocity can be gotten only by measuring the velocity in the point appearing the maximum velocity. So, it has been proved to estimate simply discharge and it indicates that this method can be a theoretical way, which is the most important in the future, when designing, managing and operating the closed conduit.
