  • In this paper, the design and the fabrication of dual-band bandpass filter using two dual-mode resonators is presented. Dual-mode resonator using a short stub is miniaturized by inter-digital capacitor and stepped impedance. Two dual mode resonators are designed to have different resonant frequencies, one for the lower passband and the other for the upper passband. Transmission zero is positioned at low or high rejection bands with a sharp skirt characteristic. Dual-band operation can be achieved using dual feeding structure. For WLAN, the proposed filter at 2.45/5.25 GHz is designed and fabricated. The size of the filter is as compact as 1$10.83\;mm{\times}5.3\;mm$.

  • This study investigates the optimum structural design of space truss considering global buckling, and is to obtain the minimal weight of the structure. The mathematical programming method is used for optimization of each member by member force. Besides, dynamic programming method is adapted for consideration in snap-through buckling. The mathematical modeling for optimum design of truss members consists of objective function of total weight and constrain equations of allowable tensile (or compressive) stress and slenderness. The tangential stiffness matrix is examined to find the critical point on equilibrium path, and a ratio of the buckling load to design load is reflected in iteration procedures of dynamic programming method to adjust the stiffness of space truss. The star dome is examined to verify the proposed optimum design processor. The numerical results of the model are conversed well and satisfied all constrains. This processor is a relatively simple method to carry out optimum design with consideration in global buckling, and is viable in practice with respect to structural design.

  • Because of the enormous processing ability, General-Purpose Graphics Processing Unit(GPGPU) has been applied to many fields including electronics design automation. The SAT algorithm is one of the core algorithm in many electronics design automation tools. There has been some efforts to apply GPGPU to the SAT algorithm, but it is difficult to parallelize the SAT algorithm because of its characteristics. In this paper, I applied GPGPU to the SAT algorithm by parallelizing the propagation routine that is relatively suitable to parallel processing. On the basis of the similarity of the propagation routine to the sparse matrix multiplication, the data structure for the SAT problem is constituted, and the parallel propagation routine is described. To prevent data loss between paralllel threads, atomic operations are exploited. The experimental results for some benchmark SAT problems show that the proposed algorithm is superior to the previous GPGPU-based SAT solver.

  • This paper presents a matrix analysis to get the torsional behavior of core structures with torsional reinforcements. Based on simplified assumptions, formulae for the forces and displacements of cote structures subjected to three typical load cases, i.e. uniformly distributed torque, triangularly distributed torque and a concentrated torque at the top of the structure, are derived analytically. The behavior of the cote according to the variation of reinforcement locations is investigated to estimate the optimum locations of reinforcements to minimize the core rotations and bimoments. The results by the program MIDAS-GEN have shown that this analysis can give quite satisfactory results for structural models with torsional reinforcements. Although three dimensional analysis by computer has come within reach as a normal structural design procedure, its use as an optimization tool may not be desirable in view of the expense and time required. Formulae that we presented here can be used to estimate the torsional rotations and forces of practical cote structures at the preliminary design stages.

  • Due to the importance of the parameter in structural response, the uncertain elastic modulus was located at the center of stochastic analysis, where the response variability caused by the uncertain system parameters is pursued. However when we analyze the so-called stochastic systems, as many parameters as possible must be included in the analysis if we want to obtain the response variability that can reach a true one, even in an approximate sense. In this paper, a formulation to determine the statistical behavior of in-plane structures due to multiple uncertain material parameters, i.e., elastic modulus and Poisson's ratio, is suggested. To this end, the polynomial expansion on the coefficients of constitutive matrix is employed. In constructing the modified auto-and cross-correlation functions, use is made of the general equation for n-th moment. For the computational purpose, the infinite series of stochastic sub-stiffness matrices is truncated preserving required accuracy. To demons4rate the validity of the proposed formulation, an exemplary example is analyzed and the results are compared with those obtained by means of classical Monte Carlo simulation, which is based on the local averaging scheme.

  • The effects of Niobium on the structure and properties(especially electric properties) of passive film of Zirconium alloys in pH 8.5 buffer solution are examined by the photo-electrochemical analysis. For Zr-xNb alloys (x = 0, 0.45, 1.5, 2.5 wt%), photocurrent began to increase at the incident energy of 3.5 ~ 3.7 eV and exhibited the $1^{st}$ peak at 4.3 eV and the $2^{nd}$ peak at 5.7 eV. From $(i_{ph}hv)^{1/2}$ vs. hv plot, indirect band gap energies $E_g{^1}$= 3.01~3.47 eV, $E_g{^2}$= 4.44~4.91 eV were obtained. With increasing Nb content, the relative photocurrent intensity of $1^{st}$ peak significantly increased. Compared with photocurrent spectrum of thermal oxide of Zr-2.5Nb, It was revealed that $1^{st}$ peak in photocurrent spectrum for the passive film formed on Zr-Nb alloy was generated by two types of electron transitions; the one caused by hydrous $ZrO_2$ and the other created by Nb. Two electron transition sources were overlapped over the same range of incident photon energy. In the photocurrent spectrum for passive film formed on Zr-2.5Nb alloy in which Nb is dissolved into matrix by quenching, the relative photocurrent intensity of $1^{st}$ peak increased, which implies that dissolved Nb act as another electron transition source.

  • Coding patterns that appeared frequently in the source code is a typical piece of code. The functionality that difficult to modularize, such as logging or synchronization processing, and the useful sentences in programming is extracted in software as codding pattern. Large-scale software could not be analyzed fully because the number of coding pattern that can be manually investigated is limited. In this paper, the characteristics of coding patterns perform the evaluation. The goal is to extract for codding-pattern to analyzed by developer. • Hybrid simulation (HS) is a versatile tool for structural performance evaluation under dynamic loads. Although real structural responses are often multiple-directional owing to an eccentric mass/stiffness of the structure and/or excitations not along structural major axes, few HS in this field takes into account structural responses in multiple directions. Multi-directional loading is more challenging than uni-directional loading as there is a nonlinear transformation between actuator and specimen coordinate systems, increasing the difficulty of suppressing loading error. Moreover, redundant actuators may exist in multi-directional hybrid simulations of large-scale structures, which requires the loading strategy to contain ineffective loading of multiple actuators. To address these issues, lately a new strategy was conceived for accurate reproduction of desired displacements in bi-directional hybrid simulations (BHS), which is characterized in two features, i.e., iterative displacement command updating based on the Jacobian matrix considering nonlinear geometric relationships, and force-based control for compensating ineffective forces of redundant actuators. This paper performs performance validation and application of this new mixed loading strategy. In particular, virtual BHS considering linear and nonlinear specimen models, and the diversity of actuator properties were carried out. A validation test was implemented with a steel frame specimen. A real application of this strategy to BHS on a full-scale 2-story frame specimen was performed. Studies showed that this strategy exhibited excellent tracking performance for the measured displacements of the control point and remarkable compensation for ineffective forces of the redundant actuator. This strategy was demonstrated to be capable of accurately and effectively reproducing the desired displacements in large-scale BHS.

  • An efficient algorithm for inverting static-shifted magnetotelluric (MT) data has been proposed to produce a three-dimensional (3D) resistivity model. In the Gauss-Newton approach, computational costs associated with construction of a full sensitivity matrix usually make 3D MT inversion impractical. This computational difficulty may be overcome by using approximate sensitivities. We use four kinds of sensitivities in particular orders in the inversion process. These sensitivities are computed 1) analytically for an initial, homogeneous earth, 2) exactly for a current model, 3) approximately by the Broyden method, and 4) approximately using the previous adjoint fields. Inversion experiments with static-shifted synthetic and field MT data indicate that inversion results are highly dependent on characteristics of data and thus applying various combinations of sensitivities is helpful in obtaining a good image of the subsurface structure with reasonable computation time.
