This paper proposes the interference cancellation improvement in smart antenna system by using Applebaum array covariance matrix adjustment. This technique adds the specific adjustable multipliers with both desired signal covariance matrix and interference signal covariance matrices in order to overcome some disadvantages and improve the interference cancellation efficiency of Applebaum array. It is based on the desired and undesired signal power or desired signal-to-interference-plus-thermal noise ratio (SINR). As the result from demonstration, the proposed technique can improve and increase the interference cancellation efficiency in smart antenna better than the conventional technique.

This paper proposes a new interference mitigation scheme for device-to-device (D2D) communications underlaying a cellular network. The object of the proposed scheme is to determine the number of data streams, a precoding matrix, and a decoding matrix of D2D networks so as to maximize the system capacity given the number of data streams of a cellular network while satisfying the constraint of the inter-system interference from D2D networks to the cellular network. Unlike existing interference mitigation schemes based on the interference alignment technique, the proposed scheme operates properly regardless of the number of data streams of a cellular network and moreover it does not require changing the precoding and decoding matrices of a cellular network. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme significantly increases the system capacity by mitigating the intra- and inter-system interference.
A femtocell is a small cellular base station, typically designed for use in a home or small business. The random deployment of a femtocell has a critical effect on the performance of a macrocell network due to co-channel interference. Utilizing the advantage of a multiple-input multiple-output system, each femto base station (FBS) is able to form a cluster and generates a precoding matrix, which is a modified version of conventional single-cell block diagonalization, in a cooperative manner. Since interference from clustered-FBSs located at the nearby macro user equipment (MUE) is the dominant interference contributor to the coexisting networks, each cluster generates a precoding matrix considering the effects of interference on nearby MUEs. Through simulation, we verify that the proposed algorithm shows better performance respective to both MUE and femto user equipment, in terms of capacity.

In this paper, the scheme for designing optimal beamforming matrix for interference control is proposed. The optimal beamforming matrix is found though linear combination of interference alignment conditions and renewal of linear combination coefficient. The proposed scheme has advantages that the complexity is reduced and there is no multiplying operation in matrix calculations even if proposed scheme has the form similar to that of existing least square based scheme. The simulation results show that proposed scheme has about 4bps/Hz higher gain than existing least square scheme. Also there is no additional multiplying calculation and increase of matrix size when the number of transmit and receive antennas is increased.
Total impurity analysis of a primary standard solution is one of the essential procedures to determine an accurate concentration of the standard solution by the gravimetry. Bi impurity is determined in Pb standard solutions by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The direct nebulization of the Pb standard solution produces a significant amount of the Pb matrix-induced molecular ions which give rise to a serious spectral interference to the Bi determination. In order to avoid the spectral interference from the interferent $^{208}PbH^+$, the hydride generation method is employed for the matrix separation. The Bi hydride vapor is generated by reaction of the sample solution with 1% sodium borohydride solution. The vapor is then directed by argon carrier gas into the ICP after separation from the mixture solution in a liquid-gas separator made of a polytetrafluoroethylene membrane tube. The presence of 1000 ${\mu}$g/mL Pb matrix caused reduction of the bismuthine generation efficiency by about 40%. The standard addition method is used to overcome the chemical interference from the Pb matrix. Optimum conditions are investigated for the hydride-generation ICPMS. The detection limit of this method is 0.5 pg/mL for the sample solutions containing 1000 ${\mu}$g/mL Pb matrix.

Doubly-selective channel estimator for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) systems is proposed in this paper. Based on the generalized complex exponential basis expansion model(GCE-BEM), we describe the time-variant channel with time-invariant coefficients over multiple OFDM blocks. The time variation of the channel destroys the orthogonality between subcarriers, and the resulting channel matrix in the frequency domain is no longer diagonal, but the main interference comes from the near subcarriers. Based on this, we propose a channel estimator with low pilot ratio. We first develop a least-square(LS) estimator under the assumption that only the maximum Doppler frequency and the channel order are known at the receiver, and then verify that the correlation matrix of inter-channel interference(ICI) is a scaled identity matrix based on which we derive an optimal pilot insertion scheme for the LS estimator in the sense of minimum mean square error. The proposed estimator has the advantages of low pilot ratio and robustness against inter-carrier interference.

Most recent research on iterative solutions for interference alignment (IA) presents solutions assuming channel reciprocity based on the suppression of interference from undesired sources by using an appropriate decoding matrix also known as a receiver combining matrix for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) interference channel networks and reciprocal networks. In this paper, we present an alternative solution for IA by designing precoding and decoding matrices based on the concept of signal leakage (the measure of signal power that leaks to unintended users) on each transmit side. We propose an iterative algorithm for an IA solution based on maximization of the signal-to-leakage-and-noise ratio (SLNR) of the transmitted signal from each transmitter. In order to make an algorithm removing the requirement of channel reciprocity, we deploy maximization of the signal-to-interference-and-noise ratio (SINR) in the design of the decoding matrices. We show through simulation that minimizing the leakage in each transmission can help achieve enhanced performance in terms of aggregate sum capacity in the system.
Sex hormones are important metabolites in vertebrates' development and reproduction. For rapid screening sex hormones, matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry (MS) is one of the promising analytical platforms, but MALDI MS faces many challenges in detecting steroids such as low ionization efficiency and matrix background interference. One potential strategy to overcome matrix interference in the low m/z region is using a cyclodextrin (CD)-supported matrix for steroid analysis since CD-supported matrixes are known to effectively suppress matrix-related ion signals. In this study, we aimed to find the optimal CD-supported matrix for the analysis of the nonderivatized sex steroids. Our results showed that the ${\alpha}CD$-supported 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid (DHB) matrix efficiently ionized all three major classes of sex hormones, estrogens, androgens, and progestagens, with low or no matrix background and also with high sensitivity. In addition, the ${\alpha}CD$-supported DHB matrix mainly generated molecular ions or protonated ions of sex hormones, and this enabled us to obtain information-rich tandem mass spectra which potentially lead to unambiguous identification of steroid species from complex metabolite mixtures.

Quasi-Orthogonal STBC (QO-STBC) scheme is proposed conventionally achieving approximate full rate and full diversity in more than 3 transmit antenna and open-loop environmen.. But, conventional QO-STBC has disadvantage that performance degradation by interference terms of detection matrix and high decoding complexity. Recently, this interference cancellation scheme of low decoding complexity by multiplying specific rotation matrix is proposed. We propose more general interference cancellation scheme by using EVD(Eigenvalue Decompostion).
Different cores typically share the last-level cache in a multi-core processor. Threads running on different cores may interfere with each other. Therefore, the multi-core worst-case execution time (WCET) analyzer must be able to safely and accurately estimate the worst-case inter-thread cache interference. This is not supported by current WCET analysis techniques that manly focus on single thread analysis. This paper presents a novel approach to analyze the worst-case cache interference and bounding the WCET for threads running on multi-core processors with shared L2 instruction caches. We propose to use an interference matrix to model inter-thread interference, on which basis we can calculate the worst-case inter-thread cache interference. Our experiments indicate that the proposed approach can give a worst-case bound less than 1%, as in benchmark fib-call, and an average 16.4% overestimate for threads running on a dual-core processor with shared-L2 cache. Our approach dramatically improves the accuracy of WCET overestimatation by on average 20.0% compared to work.
