Bringing Computational Thinking into Science Education

  • The purpose of science education is scientific literacy, which is extended in its meaning in the $21^{st}$ century. Students must be equipped with the skills necessary to solve problems from the community beyond obtaining the knowledge from curiosity, which is called 'computational thinking'. In this paper, the authors tried to define computational thinking in science education from the view of scientific literacy in the $21^{st}$ century; (1) computational thinking is an explicit skill shown in the two steps of abstracting the problems and automating solutions, (2) computational thinking consists of concrete components and practices which are observable and measurable, (3) computational thinking is a catalyst for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education, and (4) computational thinking is a cognitive process to be learned. More implication about the necessity of including computational thinking and its emphasis in implementing in science teaching and learning for the envisioned scientific literacy is added.

  • The theoretical and methodological provisions that allow to systematically and comprehensively study the postgraduate pedagogical education of teachers; the essence and features of postgraduate pedagogical education of teachers of diverse training institutions, providing professional and pedagogical training of this category of pedagogical personnel, have been determined; regularities, principles and conditions for the implementation of promising directions of development of the system of postgraduate pedagogical education for teachers of diverse training have been developed; developed technological support for the development of postgraduate pedagogical education for teachers of multidisciplinary training; identified and substantiated promising directions for the development of postgraduate pedagogical education for teachers of multidisciplinary training in vocational education, due to the modernization.

Data Design Strategy for Data Governance Applied to Customer Relationship Management

  • Nowadays, many companies are striving to turn customer value into business value. Customer Relationship Management is a management system that develops effective and efficient marketing strategies by classifying customers in detail based on their information, i.e. databases, and consists of various information technologies. To implement this management system, a customer integration database must be established, and customer characteristics (buying behavior, preferences, etc.) must be analyzed with the databases established and the behavior of each customer must be predicted. This study aims to systematically manage a large amount of customer data generated by companies that apply Customer Relationship Management, in order to develop data design and data governance strategies that should be considered to increase customer value and even company value. We mainly looked at the characteristics of customer relationship management and data governance, and then explored the link between the field of customer relationship management and data governance. In addition, we have developed a data strategy that companies need to perform data governance for customer relationship management.

  • 해를 거듭해 갈수록 정보화는 이젠 쉽게 접 할 수 있는 문화이며 일반화가 되어가고 있다. 이런 사회에서 학원 혹은 학교에서만 배움의 기회를 얻을 수 있었다면, 이젠 인터넷을 이용한 사이버학습이 가능하게 되었고, 이러한 사이버학습을 이용한 컨텐츠들이 많이 생겨나고 있다. 이에 발맞추어 학원과 학교 교육에만 의존하는게 아니라 가정에서도 학습을 할 수 있도록 하는 형태로 변화되어 가고 있다. 이러한 사이버학습에 대해서 알아보고자 한다. 첫째, 사이버 가정학습에 관한 효과는 무엇인가? 둘째, 사이버 가정학습에 대한 문제점은 무엇인가? 이러한 것들을 알아보고 대처방안에 대해 알아보고자 한다.

Developing an Art-based Integration Program for the Korean Schools in the United States

  • The purpose of this study is to develop an art-based integration program for the Korean schools in the United States to improve students' academic performance and nurture the spirit of the young and can enable students taking art classes to better understand social and cultural phenomena influencing their lives. This study integrates with six other subjects that are language art, math, religion, social studies, and Korean history. Art classes are considered the main vehicle for integrating the entire program using a thematic approach. The methodology of this study is based on the literature research and the information of the place, the Korean School of Columbus, is that the school is one of 124 Korean Schools in the Mid-western states and is located in the northern part of Columbus, Ohio. In this study, I developed an art-based integration program to be connected well with other subjects to help students to make sense of them in the complex societies and to help them to obtain the five goals that are included: First, students will understand about a Korean history and culture through making a kite; Second, they will know that a kite can be used as ways of communication with people and God; Third, they will also know how different types of kites respond to the airflow of the wind; Fourth, they will understand an enjoyable and different way of learning about aspects of Fine art, Bible, Language art, Mathematics, Science, History, and Social studies; Lastly, they will learn how important to cooperate with each other.

수학적 모델링 수업에 대한 초등 교사의 인식 (Prospective Teachers' Perception of Mathematical Modeling in Elementary Class)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 수학적 모델링 수업에 대한 초등교사의 인식을 질적으로 분석하는 것으로, 40명의 현직 교사들이 참여하였다. 참여 교사들은 수학적 모델링에 대한 이론을 습득하고, 실제 교실수업에 적용하는 것을 목적으로 교수 학습 과정 안을 개발하고 적용하며 그 결과를 분석한 보고서를 작성하였다. 이 보고서에 대한 분석을 통해서 초등 교사의 인식을 분석한 결과, 수학적 모델링의 특징으로 '비구조화된 상황'과 '다양한 문제해결'을 도출할 수 있었으나 수학적 모델링 관점은 다소 차이가 있어 네 가지 형태로 분류할 수 있었다. 수학적 모델링 수업에 대한 어려움은 크게 과제, 학생의 인지적 활동, 교사의 중재, 모든 학생의 참여, 교실 문화 범주로 구체화하였다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 수학적 모델링 수업에 대한 시사점을 제시하였다.

수학 교사 공동체 관련 국내·외 연구 동향 (Research Trends in Mathematics Teacher Learning Community : Literature Review)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 수학 교사 공동체에 대한 국내·외 연구의 최근 동향을 파악하고 그 중 특히 공동체 활동에서 구성원들의 협력의 특징을 분석함으로써 교사 공동체 연구와 실제에 시사점을 제공하는 것이다. 이를 위해 2003년부터 2019년 7월까지 국내 KCI 등재 논문 14편, 국외 SSCI 등재 논문 24편을 대상으로 연구 방법, 연구 주제, 그리고 교사 공동체에서 협력 의지, 방향, 양상을 분석하였다. 그 결과 국내·외 연구들은 통상 질적연구 방법을 활용하였다는 공통점이 있었으나 연구에서 주목한 주제와 공동체 협력의 특징에는 다소 차이가 있었다. 연구 주제 측면에서 국내 논문은 공동체 운영과 발달 및 프로그램 개발에 관한 연구가 많았으며 국외 논문은 공동체 활동과 교수 발달, 특히 교수 관행에 집중한 연구가 많았다. 또한 구성원들의 협력 양상에서 국내 논문은 지식의 제공과 교수 경험의 공유를 강조하였고, 국외 논문은 경험적 사례와 아이디어를 공유하는 것뿐 아니라 이를 반성하는 과정을 강조하였다는 차이가 나타났다. 한편 국내·외 논문에서 교사들이 주체적으로 공동체 활동 내용과 규범을 협의하는 활동에 주목하였다는 특징이 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 교사 공동체 연구의 방법, 공동체에서 협력 방식, 그리고 교사교육 정책에 관한 시사점을 제시하였다.

갈릴레오의 수학과 미술의 융합에 관한 연구 (A Study on Convergence between Mathematics and Fine Arts by Galileo Galilei)

  • 융복합적 인재란 자신의 전문 분야를 넘어서 다른 분야의 전문가들과 효율적인 협력 작업을 수행할 수 있는 인재를 의미하거나 아니면 스스로 다양한 분야의 지식을 융합해 낼 수 있는 인재를 의미한다. 이 논문에서는 역사적 인물들 중 다양한 분야의 지식을 융합해 내어 한 분야로의 지식만으로는 이룰 수 없는 성과를 도출해 냈던 사례로 갈릴레오를 살필 것이다. 논문에서는 르네상스 분위기 속에서 화가들과 교류했던 갈릴레오가 망원경으로 하늘을 관측한 결과를 그림으로 표현했다는 점과 그가 과거의 우주론을 비판하는 결정적인 논리를 만들어 내는 과정에서 그 그림들을 적극적으로 활용했음을 보일 것이다. 이러한 갈릴레오의 사례는 융합적 인재 양성에 있어서 목표로 삼아야 할 지향점을 제시해 준다는 점에 있어서 의미가 크다.

공동체 단위 수학교사 연수 프로그램의 개발 및 효과 -'함께 만들어가는 수학교사 연수'를 중심으로- (Designing and implementing professional development program of multi-tiered teacher community: Joint collaboration between teachers and PD program developers)

  • This research has an intention of developing a professional development program. We proposed an alternative mathematics teacher training model based on the situated learning theory, community of practice, and reflective practitioner. The developed mathematics teacher professional development program recruited participation unit that was consisted of 3 or 4 teachers in same school and total of 28 teachers from 9 schools. Also, there were 18 mentors to support each school. In this sense, it can be called multi-tired teacher community professional development program. Through the program, the teachers improve their teaching competency. Also, the operation ability of teacher learning community was improved. Learning community culture has been formed in each school. It shows ability that the explorative learning community can be operated voluntarily although the program finished. Furthermore, community shared corporate responsibility about open class. They recognize open class as a new method to improve community teaching ability than a tool to evaluate individual teaching ability.

교실문화 비교를 통한 수학교육개혁에 관한 소고 (A Study on the Reform of Mathematics Education from the Comparison of Classroom Culture)

  • Many teachers report familiarity with and adherence to reform ideas, but their actual teaching practices do not reflect a deep understanding of reform. Given the challenges in implementing reform, this study intended to explore the breakdown that may occur between teachers' adoption of reform objectives and their successful incorporation of reform ideals. To this end, this study compared and contrasted the classroom social norms and sociomathematical norms of two United States second-grade teachers who aspired to implement reform. This study is an exploratory, qualitative, comparative case study. This study uses the grounded theory methodology based on the constant comparative analysis for which the primary data sources were classroom video recordings and transcripts. The two classrooms established similar social norms including an open and permissive learning environment, stressing group cooperation, employing enjoyable activity formats for students, and orchestrating individual or small group session followed by whole group discussion. Despite these similar social participation structures, the two classes were remarkably different in terms of sociomathematical norms. In one class, the students were involved in mathematical processes by which being accurate or automatic was evaluated as a more important contribution to the classroom community than being insightful or creative. In the other class, the students were continually engaged in significant mathematical processes by which they could develop an appreciation of characteristically mathematical ways of thinking, communi-eating, arguing, proving, and valuing. It was apparent from this study that sociomathematical norms are an important construct reflecting the quality of students' mathematical engagement and anticipating their conceptual learning opportunities. A re-theorization of sociomathematical norms was offered so as to highlight the importance of this construct in the analysis of reform-oriented classrooms.
