  • This paper is a study to dectect the tracking owing to deterioration of indoor wiring, and to prevent the electrical fire. After analysing the harmonics of waveshapes in load current and tracking current by FFT, a method of identifying the tracking was developed by using neural network. Fluoscent lamp, witch was mostly used in indoor, was chosen as the load used in this study. When the learning number in neural network was more then 30,000 times, an excellent neural net-work which could correctly identify the tracking was established. Therefore, the result of this study can be utilized as a basic material in various measuring instruments, such as an hotline inslation tester, earth tester in vehicles, and tracking fire alarm device, witch can detect the tracking under the condition of hotline.

  • The Carbon fiber epoxy composite material and aluminum have many advantages about higher specific stiffness and good fatigue characteristics. basically, the propeller shaft of automobile must satisfy high natural frequency more than 9,200 rpm to satisfy high number of rotation and high torsion torque more than 2,700Nm. In these reason, studied natural frequency and torsion torque characteristics of shaft according to parameter variations with the outdiameter and thickness. From the torsion tester and natural frequency experiments FE analyses was compared vibration and torque characteristics of hybrid shaft Designed hybrid shaft was experimented through FFT analyzer and torsion tester each and satisfied that hybrid shaft reverence 60mm and thickness 5mm by a these experiment is most suitable. Therefore, that can manufacture existent steel two piece type propeller shaft to one piece type hybrid shaft.

  • The technology trend of Flat Panel Display (FPD) equipments have been demanded that there are compact and multi-function. Therefore, nano/micro scale patterned on polymeric materials of Back Light Unit (BLU) in Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) that has been investigated. This paper describes a series of Horizontal Type Micro Tensile Tester that were carried out to investigate the load strain distance performance of typical polymeric material sheets. The polymeric materials film that micro size shaped specimens for tensile test are used by Cold-Isostatic-Press (CIP). Test equipment is Horizontal type Micro Tensile Tester that is presented to measure the micro scale mechanical property of thin film for FPD. This paper presents which easy testing tools measure for micro patterned on polyethylene (PET) specimens.

  • In a micro-unit of electronic-machine, vibration can be excited by a small impact, and this vibration acts as a fatigue load. To measure the vibration effect on the micro unit, a micro dynamic tester is needed to test a micro specimen. In this paper, it has confirmed a movement of the PZT(piezo actuator) to use a sine signal. And, it has confirmed a fracture of specimens by using a tension-tension input signal in PZT. A metal-material property in the micro scale has been tested to compare with the macro scale. A fatigue test has been conducted by using PZT actuator to give a bending-tension effect.

  • Information of change of hardness values during applying load is needed often to control the quality of metal products efficiently, but the relation between applied stress and hardness has not been established. In this paper the theoretical relation between the rebound hardness and stress was examined briefly and the experiment was performed with some materials. Materials used in test were mild steel(SB41), 7-3 brass and copper, which were widely used in the commercial plants. Hardness was measured during stress applied using the Equo-Tip hardness tester as a kind of rebound hardness tester. Hardness values decreased as tensile stress increased, the decreasing rate was effected by the Young's modulus of each material, and the rebound hardness values showed linear relationship with the applied stress in elastic region.

  • In this study, the correlations of the two frictional testers have been investigated; one is the KES-FB4 system, the other is the Fabric-on-Fabric Frictional tester which was devised by authors. According to the results, the correlation between the frictional coefficients measured by the two testers has been shown highly as the load increased. But the effect of roughness of fabric surface was not dearly revealed in this study. The frictional characteristics of fabric woven from filament yarns were different with those of fabric woven from spun yarns. And, like the other materials, the effect of load on fabrics used in this experiment was related with the frictional force between two fabrics. The frictional behaviors, however, were obviously different with harder material because the frictional coefficients were not constant as the load increased.

  • One-touch fittings are important components that can make a quick and tight connection between pneumatic pipe systems. In this study, the stress analyses with various working pressures on these one-touch fittings are carried out using finite element method. Material properties, to use the stress analyses, are measured by the universal tester and digital Vickers hardness tester. The stress analyses on the circular shell spring forced by various pressures(100, 150, 200, 250kpa) and on the main body due to the fluid-structural interaction are investigated. Results show that the stresses of one-touch fitting are concentrated to supported part of main body and the soundness of a circular shell spring with maximum pressure 250kpa was confirmed.

  • The roller rig tester for safety performance evaluation of wheel derailment is a test facility which can give the test load condition to the test wheel, similar to the actual dynamic condition in actual running condition. This study describes the evaluation result on the durability of the resilient wheel equipped with the ring damper and the damping material, and installed in the half part of a full scaled bogie in combination with the primary spring when it rotates under the dynamic condition. The evaluation result on durability of resilient wheel after load test of 2 million cycles shows that the safety of wheel is not affected by the applied load in visual inspection and nondestructive test, however, in the bolt used for fastening the ring damper to the wheel the loosening was found. Accordingly the use of self-locking nut and washer is recommended.

  • Many lubricated systems experience boundary lubrication condition during operation. However, the friction and wear characteristics of boundary lubrication are not clearly understood. In this work the factors which affect the friction and wear between boundary lubricated metallic surfaces are investigated. Experiments were performed using a pin-on-disk type tester with pure aluminum, pure copper, and SM45C steel as the disk material and steel, stainless steel and bearing ball as the ball. The experimental conditions were determined according to the Taguchi experimental method. From the experimental results, the major factors that influence the friction and wear characteristics of boundary lubrication could be identified.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the friction characteristics of brake pads according to different ratios of $BaSO_4/CaCO_3$. Four brake pads with different ratios of $BaSO_4/CaCO_3$ were manufactured. The friction characteristics of brake pads were tested using 1/5 reduced scale tester. With increasing of the amount of $BaSO_4$ density and shear strength of brake pads were increased and hardness of brake pads were decreased. In effectiveness, the friction coefficient of brake pad was higher and the stability of friction coefficient was better as the ratio of $BaSO_4$ increased. In fade test, friction coefficient of B3 sample used only $CaCO_3$ was decreased rapidly. B1 sample showed a good noise performance without noise generation. The wear resistance of samples were decreased with increasing of the ratio of $CaCO_3$.
