Indium tin oxide (ITO) used as an electrode in organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) and organic thin film transistors (OTFTs) was modified by a self-assembled monolayer (SAM). For device fabrication, surface of the ITO was modified by immersion in a solution including various phosphonic acid at room temperature in order to increase work function of an electrode. The work function of ITO with SAM was measured by Kelvin probe. Work function increase of 0.88 eV was observed in ITO with various SAM. Therefore, ohmic contact is achieved in an interface between ITO and organic semiconductors (pentacene). We analyzed the origin of work function increase of ITO with SAM by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. We confirmed that increase of oxygen bonding energy attributed to increase the work function of ITO. These results suggested that ITO with the SAM gives a high possibility for high performance of OLEDS and OTFTs.
OpenMC is a community-driven open-source Monte Carlo neutron and photon transport simulation code. The Weight Window Mesh (WWM) function and an automatic Global Variance Reduction (GVR) method was recently developed and implemented in a developmental branch of OpenMC. This WWM function and GVR method broaden OpenMC's usage in general purposes deep penetration shielding calculations. However, the Local Variance Reduction (LVR) method, which suits the source-detector problem, is still missing in OpenMC. In this work, the Weight Window Generator (WWG) function has been developed and benchmarked for the same branch. This WWG function allows OpenMC to generate the WWM for the source-detector problem on its own. Single-material cases with varying shielding and sources were used to benchmark the WWG function and investigate how to set up the particle histories utilized in WWG-run and WWM-run. Results show that there is a maximum improvement of WWM generated by WWG. Based on the above results, instructions on determining the particle histories utilized in WWG-run and WWM-run for optimal computation efficiency are given and tested with a few multi-material cases. These benchmarks demonstrate the ability of the OpenMC WWG function and the above instructions for the source-detector problem. This developmental branch will be released and merged into the main distribution in the future.
Until now, considerable progress has been made in the application of range finding techanique performing direct 3-D measurement from the object. However, ther are few use of the method in the area of the application of material handing. We present a range finding vision system consisting of static and dynamic range finders to automate a reclaimer used for material handling. A static range finder detects range data of the front part of the piles of material, and a height map is obtained from the proposed image processing algorithm. The height map is used to calculate the optimal job path as features for required information for material handling function. A dynamic range finder attached on the side of the arm of the reclaimer detects the change of the local properties of the material with the handling function, which is used for avoiding collision and detecting the ending point for changing direction. the developed vision systm was applied to a 1/20 simulator and the results of test show that it is appropriate to use for automating the material handling.

The enhancement of quantum efficiency using a surface modified Ag anode in top-emitting organic light emitting diodes (TEOLEDs) is reported. The operation voltage at the current density of $1\;mA/cm^2$ of TEOLEDs decreased from 9.3 V to 4.3 V as the surface of anode coated with $CuO_x$ layer. The work function of these structures were quantitatively determined using synchrotron radiation photoemission spectroscopy. Secondary electron emission spectra revealed that the work function of the Ag/$CuO_x$ structure is higher by 0.6 eV than that of Ag. Thus, the $CuO_x$ structure acts as a role in reducing the hole injection barrier by about 0.6 eV, resulting in a decrease of the turn-on voltage of top-emitting light emitting diodes.

On the basis of the energy approach it is reported a development of the yield function and the constitutive equations for the orthotropic material with consideration of the crystal lattice constants and parameters of the crystallographic texture for the general stress state. For practical use in sheet metal forming analysis it is considered different loading scenarios: plane stress and plane strain states. Using the proposed yield function, the influence of single ideal components on the shape of yield surface was analyzed. The six texture components investigated here were cube, Goss, copper, brass, S and rotated cube, as these components are typically observed in rolled sheets from FCC alloys.
Many closed queueing network models have been used as an effective tool to make a preliminary design of FMS. Although a loading/unloading function is an important factor to effect the utilization and throughput of FMS as well as a transfer function and a processing function, the Solberg's model did not clarify the loading/unloading function. In this paper, we propose a closed queueing network model for analyzing a flexible manufacturing system that consists of a load/unload station, a material handling system and a group of workstations for processing jobs, and define the expected utilization and the expected throughput of the FMS. As applications of the proposed model, the cases of a material handling system consisting of a conveyor and the FMS including an inspection station are also formulated.
Portulaca oleracea L. (PL) has been used in traditional medicine herb for treatment of various diseases, such as diarrhea, dysentery, and skin inflammation. Previous studies have shown that the PL regulates the inflammation by inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Although PL might have improvement effects of intestinal function and bioactive effects, there are not enough studies to demonstrate. This study investigated the effects of KDC16-2 on the improvement of intestinal function and anti-inflammatory effects in vivo and in vitro. The improvement effect of intestinal function was measured fecal amount, water content and intestinal transit rate in KDC16-2 treated ICR mice. As results, compared with the control group, the KDC16-2 group showed a significant increase in wet fecal weight, dry fecal weight and fecal water content. The intestinal transit rate of KDC16-2 group was significantly increased. Based on the results, KDC16-2 is considered to have effects on improving intestinal function. The effect of anti-inflammatory demonstrated by using dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis mice. The mice were administered 3% DSS along with KDC16-2 (100, 300 mg/kg) for 14 days. DSS-induced colitis mice were significantly ameliorated in KDC16-2 treated group, including body weight loss, colon length shortening, tight junction protein of colon and histological colon injury. The levels of inflammatory mediators (IgG2a, IgA, C-reactive protein and Myeloperoxidase) and pro-inflammatory cytokines (tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-${\alpha}$, Interleukin (IL)-6) which are involved in inflammatory responses were increased in the DSS-treated group as compared to those in the control group, and the levels were significantly decreased in the KDC16-2 groups. In addition, we investigated the impact of KDC16-2 on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammatory responses in J774A.1 cells. KDC16-2 inhibited production of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) and reactive oxygen species (ROS). These results suggested that the KDC16-2 could effectively alleviate the dysfunction of intestinal and inflammatory mediators. Thus, these KDC16-2 can be potentially used as health functional food of intestinal.
Several yield criteria for porous materials are compared with each other, defining the apparent yield stress as the yield stress of the porous material in simple compression. It was found that the plastic Poisson's ratio is the parameter needed to define the yield criterion, rather than the relative density. The plastic Poisson's ratio is regarded as a material characteristic that is obtained from a simple compression test. A new form of yield criterion was suggested, and it was applied to hydrostatic compression as well as uniaxial strain compression of sintered Al-2024 powder. The crossover point in the mean stress vs volume change curves of the processes was predicted. It is presented that the flow stress of the fully densed material can be obtained from that of the porous material using relations obtained from the yield criterion.
A general form solution is considered for a piezoelectric material containing impermeable cracks subjected to a combined mechanical and in-plane electrical loading. The analysis is based upon the Hilbert problem formulation. Using this solution, typically for a central crack in transverse isotropic piezoelectric material, a closed form solution is obtained, where one concentrated mechanical and electrical load is subjected to the crack surface. This problem could be used as a Green's function to generate the solutions of other problems with the same geometry but of different loading conditions.

In the present research, thermo-elastic buckling of small scale functionally graded material (FGM) nano-size plates with clamped edge conditions rested on an elastic substrate exposed to uniformly, linearly and non-linearly temperature distributions has been investigated employing a secant function based refined theory. Material properties of the FGM nano-size plate have exponential gradation across the plate thickness. Using Hamilton's rule and non-local elasticity of Eringen, the non-local governing equations have been stablished in the context of refined four-unknown plate theory and then solved via an analytical method which captures clamped boundary conditions. Buckling results are provided to show the effects of different thermal loadings, non-locality, gradient index, shear deformation, aspect and length-to-thickness ratios on critical buckling temperature of clamped exponential graded nano-size plates.
