The Style of Romanticism on Fashion(I) (로맨티시즘 복식의 양식(I))

  • The purpose of this study is to clarify the style of romanticism in fashion. Romanticism is advocating the conception called the respect of diversity and individuality in the modern society dominated by postmodernism trying to accept the various values.. In this study, the characteristics of romanticism are examined through the bibliographies on philosophy, aesthetics, architecture and art. In fashion. 19C is based on the costume history books and pictures. The characteristics of romanticism in literature and art which are applied to fashion are sensuality, ornament, exoticism and complexity. On the basis of these characteristics, the 19C fashion of romanticism are analyzed as follows. ㆍ Sensuality to emphasize sexual region of woman's body and to make ‘X’ silhouette is through exaggeration and exposure. This is the characteristic to relieve femininity. ㆍ Ornamentation is expressed in the gorgeous color and the varied material. details and trimming to add the fantastic mood, and the accessory to express the aristocratic elegance. This is a very important characteristic that produces the fantastic and romantic mood. ㆍExoticism to express aspiration for East is expressed either in items or accessories imported from the East. or in exotic material and pattern. This is the characteristic of fashion to express the desire to escape from the reality in the mysterious mood. ㆍMingler is expressed, contrasting or harmonizing the various patterns, color, material in a fashion by the textile with the rich color and print of the various feeling and many trimming. This is the external characteristic of the romanticism fashion combined the experimental mind of the technical progress with the romantic trend in those days. These characteristics of romanticism fashion in the 19th century presented with the various phenomena by working complexly rather than independently.

A Method to Predict the Open-Hole Tensile Strength of Composite Laminate (원공을 가지는 복합재 적층판의 인장강도 예측 기법)

  • The characteristic length method used to determine a laminate's strength generally requires the test for un-notched and notched laminates and finite element analysis together. In this paper, the methods used to predict the stress distribution and tensile characteristic length of open-hole laminates using the stress concentration factor and equivalent material properties are proposed. These methods do not require data on the failure load of open-hole laminates or finite element analysis. Once the stress and characteristic length have been determined, the failure load of the open-hole laminate can be calculated. The proposed method considers the effect of the material properties as a parameter and therefore can be applied to a variety of materials. The stress distribution is verified by comparing with a finite element analysis and test results. The predicted failure load shows a maximum deviation of 8% from the test results.

A Study on Rolling Friction Characteristics of Magneto-Rheological Elastomer under Magnetic Fields (자기장 영향에 따른 자기유변탄성체의 구름 마찰 특성 연구)

  • Magneto-rheological elastomer (MR elastomer) is a smart material, because it has mechanical properties that change under a magnetic field. An MR elastomer changes its stiffness characteristics when the inner particles (iron particles) align along the direction of a magnetic field. There has been much research to make use of this characteristic to control vibration issues in various mechanical systems, such as for mounting systems in the automotive field, home appliances, etc. Furthermore, the friction and wear properties of MR elastomer have been studied, as these relate to the durability of the material needed to meet engineering requirements. Rolling friction (or rolling resistance) is one of these friction properties, but has not yet been studied in the context of MR elastomers. In this study, an MR elastomer is fabricated in the shape of a hollow cylinder to evaluate the rolling friction characteristic under a magnetic field. The test apparatus is setup and a strain gauge is used to calculate the rolling resistance under test conditions. Permanent magnets are used to supply the magnetic field during tests. The load and rolling speed conditions are also considered for the tests. The test results show that rolling friction characteristic has a different trend under different magnetic field, load, and rolling speed conditions. It is assumed that the stiffness change of an MR elastomer under a magnetic field has an effect on the rolling friction characteristic of the MR elastomer. For the future work, the rolling friction characteristics of MR elastomers will be controlled by adjusting the strength of the magnetic field using electromagnets.

A study on a modeling method about current-voltage characteristic of HTS tape considering resistance of stabilizer

  • Current-voltage characteristic models of superconducting material are suggested by many researchers. These current-voltage characteristic models are important because they can be used for design or simulation of superconductor devices. But widely used current-voltage models of superconductor wire still have some limitations. For example, a standard E-J power model has no parameters related with stabilizer's resistance in superconductor wire. In this paper, a current-voltage characteristic modeling method for high temperature superconductor (HTS) tape with considering the effect of stabilizer is introduced. And a current-voltage characteristic of a HTS tape is measured under different stabilizer conditions. Those measured current-voltage characteristics of the HTS tape modeled with proposed modeling method and the modeling results are compared.

  • The characteristic evaluation of an aluminium filler tube for automotive is presented in this paper. The material of filler tube was used AL3003 aluminium. In characteristic evaluation of an aluminium filler, we measured the corrosion, chemical resistance, weight, leak, welding strength, exciting endurance, and the solt spray test etc.. It has been shown that the weight decreased approximately 61% in aluminum filler tube developed comparing with steel filler tube. As the characteristic evaluation on the manufactured aluminium filler it was enough satisfied to use at the automotive filler tube.

  • In these days, new and renewable energy is getting popular around globe and wind power generator is one of the renewable energy. In this study, we conducted a study on defect detection of composite material blade for wind power generator by applying active infrared thermography and produced a defect test piece by applying composite material used for blade of wind power generator. An infrared thermal camera and 2 kW halogen lamp are used for the purpose of research as equipments. Also, we analyzed temperature characteristic by using infrared thermal camera after checking a heat source on a test piece and found effectiveness of infrared thermography to blade of wind power generator by detecting defects resulting from temperature difference of a test piece, which eventually improve the safety and reliability of the composite material blade.

  • The solenoid valve is an electro-mechanical device that converts electrical energy into mechanical motion. The magnetic field of solenoid is very closely related to the number of coil winding, the intensity of current and the characteristic of magnetic material. There are disadvantages that the weight and size of valve increase, as increasing the number of coil winding, the intensity of current to augment the magnetic force. Therefore, the selection of magnetic material is very important to reduce the weight and size of solenoid valve.

Effect of Pad Thickness on Removal Rate and Within Wafer Non-Uniformity in Oxide CMP (산화막 CMP에서 패드 두께가 연마율과 연마 불균일도에 미치는 영향)

  • The polishing pad is important element for polishing characteristic such as material removal rate(MRR) and within wafer non-uniformity(WIWNU) in the chemical mechanical planarization(CMP). The result of the viscoelasticity measurement shows that 1st elastic modulus is increased and 2nd elastic modulus is decreased when the top pad is thickened. The finite element analysis(FEA) was conducted to predict characteristic of polishing behavior according to the pad thickness. The result of polishing experiment was similar with the FEA, and it shows that the 1st elastic modulus affects instantaneous deformation of pad related to MRR. And the 2nd elastic modulus has an effect on WIWNU due to the viscoelasticity deformation of pad.
