  • Purpose: This paper aims to analyse the composition system of architectural elements including shape, kinetic and material elements of kinetic facades and establish the design parameter system as a common conceptual and practical knowledge sharing platform with mechanical and electrical experts. Method: This research has been conducted in a three steps. At first, 120 cases of external shading devices are analyzed and their classification criteria have been established. Secondly geometric, kinetic and material elements are categorized in a common kinetic facade coordinates system considering environmental effects and operation method, and the applicability of combination of each element are tested. Lastly core design parameters for each element have been established in a common office building installation coordinate. Result: Geometry elements are categorized into seven geometric shapes and kinetic elements is categorized into basic linear and rotational motion and combinational folding and rolling motion. The combined set of parameters for three elements composes the whole design parameters for architectural elements of kinetic façade. Design parameters of shape elements are composed of shape, installation and arrangement parameters; design parameters for kinetic elements are composed of axis and range parameters; and design parameters of material elements are composed of thermal, lighting and color parameters.

  • Numerical analysis and dynamic material properties are required to analyze the behavior of workpiece during an electrohydraulic forming (EHF) process. In this study, EHF experiments were conducted under three conditions (6, 7, 8 kV). Dynamic material properties of Al 5052-H34 were inversely estimated through an ANN (Artificial Neural Network) model constructed based on LS-Dyna analysis results. Parameters of Cowper-Symonds constitutive equation, C and p, were used to implement dynamic material properties. By comparing experimental results of three conditions with ANN model results, optimized parameters were obtained. To determine the reliability of the derived parameters, experimental results, LS-Dyna analysis results, and ANN results of three conditions were compared using MSE and SMAPE. Valid parameters were obtained because values of indicators were within confidence intervals.

  • This work describes a method of determining material parameters included in recrystallization and grain growth models. Focus is on the recrystallization and grain growth models of Ni-Fe base superalloy, Alloy 718. High temperature compression tests at different strain, strain rate and temperature conditions were chosen to determine the material parameters of dynamic recrystallization model. The critical strain and dynamically recrystallized grain size and fraction at various process variables were quantitated with the microstructual analysis and strain-stress relationships of the compression tests. Besides, isothermal heat treatments were utilized to fit the material constants included in the grain growth model. Verification of the determined material parameters is carried out by comparing the measured data obtained from other compression tests.

  • Modeling of physically non-linear behavior becomes more and more important for the analysis of SFRC structures in practical applications. From this point of view we will present an effective, three-dimensional constitutive model for SFRC, that is also easy to implement in commercial finite element programs. Additionally, the finite element analysis should only require standard material parameters which can be gained easily from conventional experiments or which are specified in appropriate building codes. Another important point is attaining the material parameters from experimental data. The procedures to determine the material parameters proposed in appropriate codes seem to be only approximations and are unsuitable for precise structural analysis. Therefore a finite element analysis of the test itself is used to get the material parameters. This process is also denoted as inverse analysis. The efficiency of the proposed constitutive model is demonstrated on the basis of numerical examples and their comparison to experimental results. In the framework of material parameter identification the idea of a new, indirect tension testing procedure, the "Modified Tension Test", is adopted and extended to an easy-to-carry-out tension test for steel fiber reinforced concrete specimens.

  • An algorithm to determine the optimum nominal value of geometrical and material parameters in divice modelling is proposed. The algorithm uses the yield and variance prediction formula and Monte-Carlo analysis. The performance specification of the noise figure must also be satisfied. In this paper, the total number of considered devices is 1000, and each parameter of geometrical and material parameters is generated randomly within the limits of ${\pm}3%$ of nominal value, and the distribution of 1000 geometrical and material parameters is gaussing distribution.

  • The accurate prediction of elastoplasticity under prescribed workloads is essential in the optimization of engineering structures. Mechanical experiments are carried out with the goal of obtaining reliable sets of material parameters for a chosen constitutive law via inverse identification. In this work, two sample geometries made of high strength steel plates were evaluated to determine the optimal configuration for the identification of Ludwik's nonlinear isotropic hardening law. Finite element model updating(FEMU) was used to calibrate the material parameters. FEMU computes the parameter changes based on the Hessian matrix, and the sensitivity fields that report changes of computed fields with respect to material parameter changes. A sensitivity analysis was performed to determine the influence of the sample geometry on parameter identifiability. It was concluded that the sample with thinned gauge region with a large curvature radius provided more reliable material parameters.

  • The present work focuses on the characterization of material parameters of the Overlay(multilinear hardening) model for analyzing the non-isothermal cyclic deformation. In the previous study, all the parameters were especially based on the Overlay theories, and a simple method was suggested to find out the best material parameters for the isothermal cyclic deformation analysis. Based on the previous research this paper f dther improves the isothermal parameters and suggests how to apply the isothermal parameters to the non-isothermal conditions especially for the description of TMF(Thermo-Mechanical Fatigue) hysteresis behavior. The parameters are determined and calibrated using 400 series stainless steel test data in the reference papers. For the implementation into ABAQUS, a user subroutine is developed by means of ABAQUS/UMAT. The finite element results show good agreement with test for the case of uniaxial non-isothermal cyclic loading, signifying the proposed method can be used in the TMF analysis of the converter-inserted heavy duty muffler system and the stainless steel exhaust-manifold system which are to be done in our future research.

  • A Collaborative Optimization (CO) methodology for ring-stiffened composite material pressure hull of underwater vehicle is proposed. Structural stability and material strength are both examined. Lamination parameters of laminated plates are introduced to improve the optimization efficiency. Approximation models are established based on the Ellipsoidal Basis Function (EBF) neural network to replace the finite element analysis in layout optimizers. On the basis of a two-level optimization, the simultaneous structure material collaborative optimization for the pressure vessel is implemented. The optimal configuration of metal liner and frames and composite material is obtained with the comprehensive consideration of structure and material performances. The weight of the composite pressure hull decreases by 30.3% after optimization and the validation is carried out. Collaborative optimization based on the lamination parameters can optimize the composite pressure hull effectively, as well as provide a solution for low efficiency and non-convergence of direct optimization with design variables.

  • It is important to have a well developed strain energy function in order to understand the mechanical behavior of biomaterial like the blood vessel of artery. However, since it is not possible to have a complete form of strain energy function of artery, theoretical framework describing the behaviour of Rubber-like material which is similar to blood vessel is applied to infer useful forms of strain energy function of biomaterial. Based on Chuong-Fung model and Mooney-Rivlin model, material parameters are estimated based on experimental data. From the results, it can be inferred that the estimated parameters can be used to explain the difference of mechanical characteristics between normal vessel and vessel with stent.

  • Aluminium foam material is highly porous material, which has the complicated cellular structure defined by randomly distributed pores in metallic matrix. This structure gives the characteristic properties which cannot be achieved by any other conventional processes. As the properties of aluminium foam material significantly depend on its porosity, a desired profile of properties can be tailored by changing the foam density. But various defects lead to undesirable effects on the mechanical properties. Mechanical properties are dependent on cell sizes and aspect ratios. Therefore, this paper presents the effects of various processing parameters of various parameters on the mechanical properties. For the sake of this, combined stirring was used to fabricate aluminum foam materials by the parameters. Compression and bending tests were performed to investigate the effects of cell sizes and aspect ratios on the mechanical properties.
