  • Schema matching is prerequisite to an automated transformation of XML documents. Because previous works about schema matching compute all semantically-possible matchings, they produce many-to-many matching relationships. Such imprecise matchings are inappropriate for an automated transformation of XML documents. This paper presents an efficient schema matching algorithm that computes precise one-to-one matchings between two schemas. The proposed algorithm consists of two steps: preliminary matching relationships between leaf nodes in the two schemas are computed and one-to-one matchings are finally extracted based on a proposed path similarity. Specifically, for a sophisticated schema matching, the proposed algorithm is based on a domain ontology as well as a lexical database that includes abbreviations and synonyms. Experimental results with real schemas from an e-commerce field show that the proposed method is superior to previous works, resulting in an accuracy of 97% in average.

  • Fingerprints have been widely used in the biometric authentication because of its performance, uniqueness and universality. Recently, the speed of identification becomes a very important point in the fingerprint-based security applications. Also, the reliability still remains the main issue in the fingerprint identification. In this paper, we propose the fast and reliable fingerprint matching algorithm based on the process of the 'self-nonself' discrimination in the biological immune system. The proposed algorithm is organized by two-matching stage. The 1st matching stage does the matching process by the use of the 'self-space' and MHC detector string set that are generated from the minutiae and the values of the directional field. Then the 2nd matching stage is made based on the local-structure of the minutiae. The proposed two matching stage reduces matching time while the reliability of the matching algorithm is maintained.

  • This paper presents a RFM-based image matching algorithm which put constraints on the search space through the object-space approach. Also, the detail procedure of generating 3-D surface models from the RFM is introduced as an end-user point of view. The proposed algorithm provides the PML (Piecewise Matching Line) for image matching and reduces the search space to within the confined line-shape area.

  • This paper researches location estimating method in CDMA system. Previously proposed positioning algorithms are difficult to estimate accurate position in indoor environments, and possible to limited position. This paper proposes enhanced algorithm using received PN pilot signals from base stations to enhance previous algorithms. For estimating position, we set the threshold value and use over the threshold value in received signals. After selecting signals, we estimate position using TDOA algorithm. And the cases which TDOA algorithm cannot use to estimate position, we use Pattern Matching algorithm. The proposed method system showed the improved performance in estimating parameters and locating positions by computer simulations.

  • We present fast stereo matching algorithm using edge projection. Traditional stereo matching algorithm uses 2D template for the search of corresponding point thus it requires huge the computational cost. In this paper, we reduce the 2D search problem into 1D using edge projection along vertical and horizontal direction inside the region of interest. Also, by accumulation of edge projection along vertical and horizontal direction, the edge projection within the region of interest could simply be obtained by just subtracting two values. Experimental results show that matching algorithm using edge projection also gives comparable discriminating power compared to that of using intensity.

  • VariableBlock Matching algorithm is effective for the estimation of motion vector at complexor edge region by means of using variable block size with respect to the image block. But since VBM algorithm requires considerable number of operations, to solve this problem, we present an algorithm which uses difference images and quad tree structure, and estimates motion using various fast block matching algorithms.

  • The study on terrain referenced navigation has been proceeded from 1940s in advanced country with the object of military. In this study, the analysis regarding algorithm developed using cross-correlation matching algorithm and extended Kalman filter and simulation will be introduced. As a result, the standard deviation of position error from cross-correlation matching algorithm has been calculated 34.3m. It meant that the result has stable accuracy on the navigation. However, further study on terrain referenced navigation based on analysis of various topographic characteristics should be performed.

  • In two-dimensional dictionary matching problem, we are given a two-dimensional text T and a dictionary D={P\ulcorner, ...., P\ulcorner} as a set of two-dimensional patterns. We seek the locations of all the dictionary patterns that appear in T. We present a new two-dimensional pattern matching algorithm that can handle just a single pattern, and then show how to extend it into two-dimensional dictionary matching algorithm. The suggested algorithm is practical in the sense that it can deal that it uses a small extra space proportional to the size of the dictionary, and that it is quite simple to be implemented without depending on complicated data structures.

  • This paper compares the combination performance of feature point-based matching algorithms as a study to confirm the matching possibility between image taken by a user and a virtual texture image with the goal of developing mobile-based real-time image positioning technology. The feature based matching algorithm includes process of extracting features, calculating descriptors, matching features from both images, and finally eliminating mismatched features. At this time, for matching algorithm combination, we combined the process of extracting features and the process of calculating descriptors in the same or different matching algorithm respectively. V-World 3D desktop was used for the virtual indoor texture image. Currently, V-World 3D desktop is reinforced with details such as vertical and horizontal protrusions and dents. In addition, levels with real image textures. Using this, we constructed dataset with virtual indoor texture data as a reference image, and real image shooting at the same location as a target image. After constructing dataset, matching success rate and matching processing time were measured, and based on this, matching algorithm combination was determined for matching real image with virtual image. In this study, based on the characteristics of each matching technique, the matching algorithm was combined and applied to the constructed dataset to confirm the applicability, and performance comparison was also performed when the rotation was additionally considered. As a result of study, it was confirmed that the combination of Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT)'s feature and descriptor detection had the highest matching success rate, but matching processing time was longest. And in the case of Features from Accelerated Segment Test (FAST)'s feature detector and Oriented FAST and Rotated BRIEF (ORB)'s descriptor calculation, the matching success rate was similar to that of SIFT-SIFT combination, while matching processing time was short. Furthermore, in case of FAST-ORB, it was confirmed that the matching performance was superior even when 10° rotation was applied to the dataset. Therefore, it was confirmed that the matching algorithm of FAST-ORB combination could be suitable for matching between virtual texture image and real image.

  • In this paper, we present an adaptive block matching motion estimation using optical flow. In the proposed algorithm, we calculate the temporal and spatial gradient value for each pixel value from tile differential filter, and estimate the optical flow which is used to decide the location and the size of the search region from the gradient values by least square optical flow algorithm. In particular, the proposed algorithm showed a excellent performance with fast and complex motion sequences. From the computer simulation for various motion characteristic sequences. The proposed algorithm shows a significant enhancement of PSNR over previous blocking matching algorithms.
