In high diversity node situation, single-channel MAC protocols suffer from many collisions. To solve this problem, the research of multichannel MAC protocol has become a hotspot. And the cyclic quorum-based multichannel (CQM) MAC protocol outperformed others owing to its high frequency utilization. In addition, it can avoid the bottleneck that others suffered from and can be easily realized with only one transceiver. To obtain the accurate performance of CQM MAC protocol, a Markov chain model, which combines the channel hopping strategy of CQM protocol and IEEE 802.11 distributed coordination function (DCF), is proposed. The metrics (throughput and average packet transmission delay) are calculated in performance analysis, with respect to node number, packet rate, channel slot length and channel number. The results of numerical analysis show that the optimal performance of CQM protocol can be obtained in saturation bound situation. And then we obtain the saturation bound of CQM system by bird swarm algorithm (BSA). Finally, the Markov chain model and saturation bound are verified by Qualnet platform. And the simulation results show that the analytic and simulation results match very well.
Content-based video matching is measuring a similarity of video signature compared to the original clip and copies of media. Specially, it is very important to match the exact frame position, but it depends on frame rate, noise condition and compression format of video. Ordinal signature shows good performance than other video signatures under normal condition but the previous didn't try to find the uniqueness and robustness. Hua et al. performed a uniqueness test under compressed in different formats or frame size. However, they used other compression format image instead of noise in robustness test. This paper proposes robustness test method using several noise models and analyzes the performance of robustness and uniqueness.

Al-Mg alloy, an open rack vaporizer(ORV) material was reported to be corroded in seawater environments though the ORV material was coupled to thermally sprayed Al-Zn alloy functioning a sacrificial anode. In addition, the corrosion behavior based on the calculated corrosion potential did not match the observed corrosion behavior. Hence, the goal of this study is to get better understanding on Al or Al-Mg alloy coupled to Al-Zn alloy and to provide the calculated corrosion potential representing the corrosion behavior of the ORV material by immersion test, electrochemical tests, and calculation of corrosion and galvanic potential. The corrosion potentials of Al and Al alloys also depended on alloying element as well as surface defects. The corrosion potentials of Al and Al-Mg alloy were changed with time. In the meantime, the corrosion potentials of Al-Zn alloys were not. The corrosion rates of Al-Zn alloys were exponentially increased with zinc contents. The phenomena were explained with the stability of passive film proved by passive current density depending on pH and confirmed by the model proposed by McCafferty. Dissimilar material crevice corrosion (DMCC) test shows that higher content of zinc caused Al-Mg alloy corroded more rapidly, which was due to the fact that higher corrosion rate of Al-Zn makes [$H^+$] and [$Cl^-$] more concentrated within pit solution to corrode Al-Mg alloy. Considering electrochemical reactions within pit as well as bulk in the calculation gives better prediction on the corrosion behavior of Al and Al-Mg alloy as well as the capability of Al-Zn alloy for corrosion protection.

This paper presents a hybrid face recognition method of both the first moment of image and the independent component analysis(ICA) of fixed point(FP) algorithm based on Newton method. First moment is a method for finding centroid of image, which is applied to exclude the needless backgrounds in the face recognitions by shifting to the centroid of face image. FP-ICA is also applied to find a set of independent basis images for the faces, which is a set of statistically independent facial features. The proposed method has been applied to the problem for recognizing the 48 face images(12 persons o 4 scenes) of 64*64 pixels. The 3 distances such as city-block, Euclidean, negative angle are used as measures when match the probe images to the nearest gallery images. The experimental results show that the proposed method has a superior recognition performances(speed, rate) than conventional FP-ICA without preprocessing. The city-block has been relatively achieved more an accurate similarity than Euclidean or negative angle.

Background: Linkage of public healthcare data is useful in stroke research because patients may visit different sectors of the health system before, during, and after stroke. Therefore, we aimed to establish high-quality big data on stroke in Korea by linking acute stroke registry and national health claim databases. Methods: Acute stroke patients (n = 65,311) with claim data suitable for linkage were included in the Clinical Research Center for Stroke (CRCS) registry during 2006-2014. We linked the CRCS registry with national health claim databases in the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA). Linkage was performed using 6 common variables: birth date, gender, provider identification, receiving year and number, and statement serial number in the benefit claim statement. For matched records, linkage accuracy was evaluated using differences between hospital visiting date in the CRCS registry and the commencement date for health insurance care in HIRA. Results: Of 65,311 CRCS cases, 64,634 were matched to HIRA cases (match rate, 99.0%). The proportion of true matches was 94.4% (n = 61,017) in the matched data. Among true matches (mean age 66.4 years; men 58.4%), the median National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score was 3 (interquartile range 1-7). When comparing baseline characteristics between true matches and false matches, no substantial difference was observed for any variable. Conclusion: We could establish big data on stroke by linking CRCS registry and HIRA records, using claims data without personal identifiers. We plan to conduct national stroke research and improve stroke care using the linked big database.
Due to the shift in paradigm from passive control to adaptive control, smart tuned mass dampers (STMDs) have received considerable attention for vibration control in tall buildings and bridges. STMDs are superior to tuned mass dampers (TMDs) in reducing the response of the primary structure. Unlike TMDs, STMDs are capable of accommodating the changes in primary structure properties, due to damage or deterioration, by tuning in real time based on a local feedback. In this paper, a novel adaptive-length pendulum (ALP) damper is developed and experimentally verified. Length of the pendulum is adjusted in real time using a shape memory alloy (SMA) wire actuator. This can be achieved in two ways i) by changing the amount of current in the SMA wire actuator or ii) by changing the effective length of current carrying SMA wire. Using an instantaneous frequency tracking algorithm, the dominant frequency of the structure can be tracked from a local feedback signal, then the length of pendulum is adjusted to match the dominant frequency. Effectiveness of the proposed ALP-STMD mechanism, combined with the STFT frequency tracking control algorithm, is verified experimentally on a prototype two-storey shear frame. It has been observed through experimental studies that the ALP-STMD absorbs most of the input energy associated in the vicinity of tuned frequency of the pendulum damper. The reduction of storey displacements up to 80 % when subjected to forced excitation (harmonic and chirp-signal) and a faster decay rate during free vibration is observed in the experiments.

One method for image recognition is template matching. In conventional template matching, the block matching algorithm (BMA) is performed while changing the two-dimensional translational displacement of the template within a given matching image. The template size and shape do not change during the BMA. Since only two-dimensional translational displacement is considered, the success rate decreases if the size and direction of the object do not match in the template and the matching image. In this paper, a variable is added to adjust the two-dimensional direction and size of the template, and the optimal value of the variable is automatically calculated in the block corresponding to each two-dimensional translational displacement. Using the calculated optimal value, the template is automatically transformed into an optimal template for each block. The matching error value of each block is then calculated based on the automatically deformed template. Therefore, a more stable result can be obtained for the difference in direction and size. For ease of use, this study focuses on designing the algorithm in a closed form that does not require additional information beyond the template image, such as distance information.

In this paper, we propose a method to reduce the square root computation having high computation complexity in Canny edge detection algorithm using image processing. The proposed method is to reduce the number of operation calculating gradient magnitude using pixel's continuity using make a specific pattern instead of square root computation in gradient magnitude calculating operation. Using various test images and changing number of hole pixels, we can check for calculate match rate about 97% for one hole, and 94%, 90%, 88% when the number of hole is increased and measure decreasing computation time about 0.2ms for one hole, and 0.398ms, 0.6ms, 0.8ms when the number of hole is increased. Through this method, we expect to implement low power embedded vision system through high accuracy and a reduced operation number using two-hole pixels.
Purpose. The design of the implant-abutment complex is thought to be responsible for marginal bone loss (MBL) and might affect the condition of the peri-implant tissues. This the present study aimed to evaluate the influence of the implant-abutment complex on MBL and the peri-implant tissues in partially edentulous patients treated with dental implants and determine the most advantageous design. Materials and Methods. A total of ninety-one endosseous implants with different designs of implant-abutment complex [tissue level-TL (n = 30), platform switch-PS (n = 18), and platform match-PM (n = 43)] were reviewed for MBL, Probing Pocket Depth (PPD) and Bleeding on Probing (BoP). MBL was calculated for first year of the insertion and the following years. Results. The median MBL for the PM implants (2.66 ± 1.67 mm; n = 43) in the first year was significantly higher than those for the other types (P=.033). The lowest rate of MBL (0.61 ± 0.44 mm; n = 18) was observed with PS implants (P=.000). The position of the crown-abutment border showed a statistically significant influence (P=.019) and a negative correlation (r=-0.395) on MBL. BoP was found significantly higher in PM implants (P=.006). The lowest BoP scores were detected in PS implants, but the difference was not significant (P=.523). The relation between PPD and connection type revealed no statistically significant influence (P>.05). Conclusion. Within the limitations of the present study, it may be concluded that PS implants seem to show better peri-implant soft tissue conditions and cause less MBL.
Spatial data is becoming very important as a medium that connects various data produced in smart cities, digital twins, autonomous driving, smart construction, and other applications. In addition, the rapid construction and update of spatial information is becoming a hot topic to satisfy the diverse needs of consumers in this field. This study developed a software prototype that can match the position of an image-based 3D building model produced without Ground Control Points using existing spatial data. As a result of applying this software to the test area, the 3D building model produced based on the image and the existing spatial data show a high positional matching rate, so that it can be widely used in applications requiring the latest 3D spatial data.
