Excavation in a big city is different from excavation in a local area because construction methods and stability are directly connected in a loss of life. Especially, estimate of rock mass slope stability is excuted by more detail and safty work. In this study, we are made reserches in rock mass slope stability and safety method that the slope is closed by elementary school in a big city. The result of many field study and numerical analysis is shown up direct reinforcement used to anchor.
Many symbiotic stars exhibit features formed through Raman scattering with hydrogent atom, which can be useful in probing the mass loss and mass transfer processes. These include Raman scattered O VI 6830, 7088, Raman scattered He II 6545, 4850, 4332, and broad wings around Balmer emission lines. In this study we investigate the basic properties of broad Balmer wings formed through Raman scattering using a Monte Carlo technique. Special attention is made on the symmetry of the wings which is expected to be broken due to asymmetric scattering cross section. In this poster, we show preliminary results.

Frame structures of High speed train are constructed from corrugated panel and aluminum extruded panel, which have high bending stiffness. Transmission loss of those panels, however, is less satisfactory than other panels with same mass per unit area. Therefore, this study predicted transmission loss of aluminum extruded panels using Finite element method. Specifically, we modeled acoustic cavity above a radiation surface and analyzed correlation between T-slot and transmission loss. Moreover, we examined the effect of boundary condition changes of the structure on transmission.
This paper investigates the sound insulation performance of the fiber sandwich panels for a tilting train. Due to the high strength and low mass, fiber sandwich panels are widely used for aircraft structures, railway vehicle structures. These fiber sandwich panels show orthotropic behavior because of the fiber's structural characteristics. This orthotropy often reduces the critical frequency and makes negative effect on the sound insulation performance. In this study, transmission loss of the fiber panels is analyzed based on the equivalent orthotropic plate model. An analysis program is developed to calculate the transmission loss of the fiber sandwich panels. Using the program, the coincidence frequency ranges and their effects on the transmission loss are investigated.
In this study, LVLs of radiata pine were fabricated with non-preservative treated veneers, CuAz treated veneers, and ACQ treated veneers, using aqueous vinyl urethane adhesive and phenol modified resorcinol resin adhesive. Then density gradient, bonding strength, bending properties and decay resistance of LVLs were evaluated. As results, the cone-shaped and higher density gradient pattern was found in layer close to glueline. After cyclic water boiled test, the LVL bonded with aqueous vinyl urethane resin adhesive was delaminated in all layers or partly delaminated including check, chasm in glueline layer. In the case of LVL bonded with phenol modified resorcinol resin adhesive, despite slight cupping due to great glueline stress and vertical check between glueline layers, it was observed that the bonding strength to delamination was higher, owing to most absence of delamination through overall glueline. On the other hand, in the decay test, mass loss by brown rot fungi was greater than white rot fungi in LVL bonded with aqueous vinyl urethane resin adhesive. However, in LVL bonded with phenol modified resorcinol resin adhesive, the mass loss by brown rot fungi was slight and non-preservative treated LVL was low. The mass loss of preservative-treated LVL was 0 (zero), showing the high decay resistance effect.

The composite restorative resins have their insufficient resistance to wear. The subsurface degradation within the restoration is considered to be associated with wear. The aim of this study was to evaluate the resistance to degradation of six commercial composite resins in an alkaline solution. The brands studied were Clearfil APX(Kuraray), Heliomolar(Vivadent), Surefil(Dentsply), TPH(Dentsply), Tetric Ceram(Vivadent), and Z100(3M). Preweighed discs of each brand were exposed 0.1N NaOH solution at $60^{\circ}C$. After 14 days they were removed, neutralized with HCL, washed with water and dried to constant mass at $60^{\circ}C$. Resistance to degradation was evaluated on the basis of the following parameters: (a) mass loss(%) - determined from pre-and post-exposure specimen weights; (b) Si loss (ppm)-obtained from ICP-AE analysis of solution exposed to specimens; and (c) degradation depth$({\mu}m)$ - measured microscopically (SEM) from polished circular sections of exposed specimens. The results were as follows: 1. The mass loss was in descending order by Z100, TC H, S, CL, TPH and in the range of $0.45\sim3.64%$ 2. The degradation layer depth was in descending order by H, Z100, S, TC, TPH, CL and in the range of $10.85\sim73.38{\mu}m$ 3. For the Si concentration, Z100 was the highest of all 4. The highly significant correlation(r=0.81, p<0.05) was observed between mass loss and degradation depth. 5. Under scanning electronmicroscopy, the degradation of connection between resin matrix and fillers was observed 2 weeks after soaking in NaOH solution.

Litterfall and litter decomposition represent a major contribution to the carbon and nutrient inputs in a forest ecosystem. We measured litterfall quantity and nutrient dynamics in decomposing litter for two years at the Kwangneung broadleaf natural forest (DK site) in Korea. Litterfall was collected in circular littertraps (collecting area : 0.25 $m^2$) and mass loss rates and nutrient release patterns in decomposing litter were estimated using the litterbag technique employing 30 cm ${\times}$ 30 cm nylon bags with 1.5 mm mesh size. Total annual litterfall was 5,627 kg/ha/yr and leaf litter accounted for 61 % of the litterfall. The leaf litter quantity was highest in Quercus serrata, fallowed by Carpinus laxiflora and C. cordata, etc., which are dominant tree species in the site. Mass loss from decomposing leaf litter was more rapid in C. laxiflora and C. cordata than in Q. serrata litter. About 77% of C. laxiflora and 84% of C. cordata litter disappeared, while about 48% in Q. serrata litter lost over two years. Lower mass loss rates of Q. serrata litter may be attributed to the difference of substrate quality such as lower nutrient concentrations compared with the other litter types. Nutrient concentrations (N, P, Mg) of three litter types except for potassium (K) increased compared with initial nutrient concentrations of litter over the study period. Compared with Q. serrata litter, nutrients (N, P, K, Ca, Mg) in C. laxiflora and C. cordata litter were released rapidly. The results suggest that litter mass loss and nutrient dynamic processes among tree species vary considerably in the same site conditions.

In this study, an analytical expression for aerosol mass transfer at spherical collector in the low Knudsen number region was obtained. Happel's zero shear stress cell model was extended in the low Knudsen number region and the result was compared with numerical solution results. The zero vorticity model based on the Kuwabara's cell model was also extended in the low Knudsen number region and compared with Happel's results. The results showed that both analytic and numerical solution agree very well with each other in low Knudsen number region. Happel's zero shear stress model also agrees with Kuwabara's zero vorticity model without significant loss of accuracy. The obtained solution converges to the original solution of Lee et al. (1999) when Knudsen number approaches to zero. Subsequently, this study derived most general type of analytic solution for aerosol mass transfer of spherical collector including the finite Knudsen number region.

Placing lift is applied to place mass concrete in order to reduce thermal cracks by hydration heat. But they results in cold joint between placing lifts, which bring about the loss of strength, water tightness and undesirable appearance. Therefore, in this paper, mechanical and hydration heat of mass concrete using super retarding agent developed through previous study are investigated in order to reduce the hydration heat and place it without place lift. According to test results, placing lifts combined with normal concrete and concrete containing super retarding agent have positive effects on reducing hydration heat. Especially, the crack index by thermal stress of the concrete containing super retarding agent less than a quarter, compared to that of plain concrete without placing lifts, and less than a half, compared to that of plain concrete with placing lifts.
This paper is concerned with estimating the mass of a loose part in the steam generator of a nuclear power plant. Although there is the basic principle known as “Hertz Theory”for estimating mass and energy of a spherical part impacted on an infinite flat plate, the theory is not directly applicable because real plants do not comply with the underlying ideal assumptions. (Say, the steam generator is of a cylindrical and hemisphere shape.) In this work, a practical method is developed based on the basic theory and considering amplitude and energy attenuation effects. Actually, the impact waves propagating along the plate to the sensor locations become significantly different in shape and frequency spectrum from the original waveform due to the plate and surrounding conditions, distance attenuation and damping loss. To show the validity of the present mass estimation algorithm, it has been applied to the mock-up impact test data and also to real plant data. The results show better performance comparing to the conventional Hertz schemes.
