This paper reports a fabrication of poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) scaffold membranes through phase separation process using pure and mixed solvents. Chloroform and 1,4-dioxane were used as pure solvents and mixed solvents were obtained by mixing the pure solvents together. Morphologies, mechanical properties and mass transfer characteristics of the scaffold membranes were investigated through SEM, stress-strain test and glucose diffusion test. Scaffold membranes from the solution with pure chloroform showed solid-wall pore structure. In contrast, nano-fibrous membranes were fabricated from the solution with pure 1,4-dioxane. In case of mixed solvents, the scaffold membranes showed various structures with changing composition of the solvents. When 1,4-dioxane content was lower than 20 wt% in the solvent, scaffold membrane showed solid-wall pore structure. When the content was 20 wt%, scaffold membranes with macropores with the maximum size of $100{\mu}m$ was obtained. In the concentration range of 1,4-dioxane over 25 wt%, the scaffold membranes showed nano-fibrous structures. In this range, the fibers showed different diameters with changing composition of the solvent. The minimum fiber diameter was about $15{\mu}m$, when 1,4-dioxane composition was 80 wt%. These results indicate that the composition of the solvent showed a significant effect on the structure of scaffold membrane.
In order to study the mineralogical characteristics of a cathodic deposition-metallic powder, electrowinning experiments were carrier out on different electrolytic solutions at varying electric distances and electric currents. Under the same experimental conditions, Cu recovery was obtained much more effectively using a sodium chloride electrolyte than with a sulfuric acid electrolyte. In XRD analysis, copper ($Cu^0$), chalcanthite and cuprite were identified in the sulfuric acid electrolyte, while copper, nantokite and chalcanthite were observed in the sodium chloride electrolyte. In the sodium chloride electrolyte solution, increasing the electric distance and the electric current increased the Cu recovery rate, anode weight and anodic corrosion. The results of XRD analysis with non-pulverized cathodic deposition-metallic powder showed the average copper crystallite size was increased by increasing the electric current and decreasing the electric distance. It is suggested that the mass transfer was controlled with diffusion on the boundary between the electrode and the electrolytic solution due to the formation of dendrite copper.
Catalytic wet oxidation of trichloroethylene (TCE) in water has been conducted using $TiO_2-supported$ cobalt oxides at $36^{\circ}C$ with a weight hourly space velocity of $7,500\;h^{-1}.\;5\%\;CoO_x/TiO_2$, prepared by using an incipient wetness technique, might be the most promising catalyst for the wet oxidation although it exhibited a transient behavior in time on-stream activity. Not only could the bare support be inactive for the wet decomposition reaction, but no TCE removal also occurred by the process of adsorption on $TiO_2$ surface. The catalytic activity was independent of all particle sizes used, thereby representing no mass transfer limitation in intraparticle diffusion. XPS spectra of both fresh and used Co surfaces gave different surface spectral features for each $CoO_x,\;Co\;2P_{3/2}$ binding energy for Co species in the fresh catalyst appeared at 781.3 eV, which is very similar to the chemical states of $CoTiO_x$ such as $CO_2TiO_4\;and\;CoTiO_3$. The used catalyst exhibited a 780.3-eV main peak with a satellite structure at 795.8 eV. Based on XPS spectra of reference Co compound, the TCE-exposed Co surfaces could be assigned to be in the form of mainly $Co_3O_4$. XRD patterns for $5\%\;CoO_x/TiO_2$ catalyst indicated that the phase structure of Co species in the catalyst even before reaction is quite comparable to the diffraction lines of external $Co_3O_4$ standard. A model structure of $CoO_x$ present predominantly on titania surfaces would be $Co_3O_4$, encapsulated in thin-film $CoTiO_x$ species consisting of $Co_2TiO_4$ and $CoTiO_3$, which may be active for the decomposition of TCE in a flow of water.

Pool boiling heat transfer coefficients of a LiBr solution were obtained for seven low fin tubes having different fin pitch and fin height. The test range covered saturation pressure from 7.38kPa to 101.3kPa, heat flux from $20kW/m^2$ to $40 kW/m^2$ and LiBr concentration from 0% to 50%. The optimum fin geometry for the present experimental range turned out to be 26 fpi with 0.18 mm fin height. The advantage of added heat transfer area and the disadvantage of slower bubble growth and departure appear to have yielded an optimum fin pitch. The heat transfer coefficient decreased as saturation pressure decreased and Libr concentration increased. The reason may be attributed to the low saturation pressure, which increased the bubble departure diameter and decreased the bubble departure frequency. As the LiBr concenreation increased, the saturation temperature increased and the mass diffusion rate decreased, which resulted in a reduced heat transfer coefficient. The heat transfer coefficients of the low fin tube were greater than those of the smooth tube. Correlations were developed based on the present data.
In recent years, phytoremediation, the use of plants to detoxify hydrocarbons, has been a promising new area of research, particularly in situ cleanup of large volumes of slightly contaminated soils. There is increasing need for a mathematical model that can be used as a predictive tool prior to actual field implementation of such a relatively new technique. Although a number of models exist for solute-plant interaction in the vegetated zone of soil, most of them have focused on ionic nutrients and some metals. In this study, we developed a mathematical model for simulation of bioremediation of hydrocarbons in soil, associated with plant root systems. The proposed model includes root interactions with soil-water and hydrocarbons in time and space, as well as advective and dispersive transport in unsaturated soil. The developed model considers gas phase diffusion and liquid-gas mass exchanges. For simulation of temporal and spatial changes in root behavior on soil-water and with hydrocarbons, time-specific distribution of root quantity through soil was incorporated into the simulation model. Hydrocarbon absorption and subsequent uptake into roots with water were simulated with empirical equations. In addition, microbial activity in the rhizosphere, a zone of unique interaction between roots and soil microorganisms, was modeled using a biofilm theory. This mathematical model for understanding and predicting fate and transport of compound in plant-aided remediation will assist effective application of plant-aided remediation to field contamination.
This research explores the empirical confirmation of the Internet development including from the period of innovation to the time of social-cultural use in today. The research focused on how tradition news media rover about the Internet developed from early to today, and understanding the media characteristics on the each stages from news frame. The research Is designed to conduit content analysis from 1989 to 2004, then this research is divided four(4) stages of the Internet development: innovation, diffusion, commercial usage, social-cultural usage. The results shows that there are significant different coverage by the stages. First of all, the news coverage pattern shift from technology focused on early stages to social usage focused on the later stages. This research confirms that the ratio of the seriation(technology) coverage defined when social usage is increased, on the other hand skeumorphs(social usage and content) coverage is increased in the commercial and social usage stages. This coverage pattern among news media does not such a big different and there is no competitive coverage. Moreover, the news coverage shifted from thematic coverage on early stages to episodic coverage while the number of usage increasing. In addition, the tone of coverage has not been changed significantly.

Being used the three kinds of aqueous solution of tobacco extracts as a new experimental material, experiment and theoretical analysis are performed. Measurements are made with a apparatus designed and constructed by the author. The average diameter of the ice crystals is 0.04-0.1cm between 0.2 and $0.6^{\circ}C$ of the subcooling temperature of the solution. The growth rate of ice crystals in direction of axies A, $V_a$ is in proportion to the subcooling temperature, viz; $v_a=0.058{\Delta}t_b,\;where\;{\Delta}t_b<0.1^{\circ}C$ The growth rate of ice crystal have to be considered not only the mass diffusion and the heat transfer of rate controlling but also the process in ice crystallization. The growth rate of ice crystal is found to be independent on the concentration of the solution and a diameter of ice crystal.

In this study, CNT functionalized with pyrrolidine ring via 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction with various amino acid and aldehyde was synthesized. Metallocene was subsequently immobilized on the functionalized CNT and CNT/polyethylene composite was prepared via in-situ ethylene polymerization. The polymerization activities of metallocene supported on CNT functionalized with glycine and benzaldehyde (Gly+BA-CNT) were similar to those of metallocene supported on CNT functionalized with N-benzyloxycarbonylglycine and paraformaldehyde (Z-Gly+PFA-CNT) although its Zr content was lower than that of Z-Gly+PFA-CNT. In the case of metallocene supported on Z-Gly+PFA-CNT, the even distribution of active sites hindered the diffusion of ethylene monomer and cocatalyst MAO due to steric hindrance during ethylene polymerization. Compared to polyethylene produced from homogeneous metallocene catalysts, CNT/PE composites had a higher initial degradation temperature ($T_{onset}$) and maximum mass loss temperature ($T_{max}$). It suggests that pyrrolidine functionalized CNT is uniformly dispersed and strongly interacted with the PE matrix, enhancing the thermal stability of PE.
The spreading fire of very small floating particles after they are ignited is fast and t therefore dangerous. The research on this area has been limited to experiments and global simulations which treat them as dusts or gaseous fuel with certain concentration well m mixed with air. This research attempted micro-scale analysis of ignition of those particles modeling them as liquid droplets. For the beginning, the in-line array of fuel droplets is modeled by two-dimensional, unsteady conservation equations for mass, momentum, energy and species transport in the gas phase and an unsteady energy equation in the liquid phase. They are solved numerically in a generalized non-orthogonal coordinate. The single step chemical reaction with reaction rate controlled by Arrhenius’ law is assumed to a assess chemical reaction numerically. The calculated results show the variation of temperature and the concentration profile with time during evaporation and ignition process. Surrounding oxygen starts to mix with evaporating fuel vapor from the droplet. When the ignition condition is met, the exothermic reactions of the premixed gas initiate a and burn intensely. The maximum temperature position gradually approaches the droplet surface and maximum temperature increases rapidly following the ignition. The fuel and oxygen concentration distributions have minimum points near the peak temperature position. Therefore the moment of ignition seems to have a premixed-flame aspect. After this very short transient period minimum points are observed in the oxygen and fuel d distributions and the diffusion flame is established. The distance between droplets is an important parameter. Starting from far-away apart, when the distance between droplets decreases, the ignition-delay time decreases meaning faster ignition. When they are close and after the ignition, the maximum temperature moves away from the center line of the in-line array. It means that the oxygen at the center line is consumed rapidly and further supply is blocked by the flame. The study helped the understanding of the ignition of d droplet array and opened the possibility of further research.
Many dental composites are Bis-GMA based resin which diluted with the more fluid monomer triethylenglycol dimethacrylate(TEGDMA). TEGDMA is often present in exess so that some quantity remains unreacted following photo-initiated polymerization. TEGDMA is a component of some resin composites which contributes to their cytotoxicity. The presence of dentin between resin composite and pulp space reduce the cytotoxicity in vitro. The root system from extrcted human third molar was removed and then a circular occlusal cavity 4mm in diameter was prepared, leaving a remaining dentinal thickness to the roof of the pulpal chamber within the range 1.0-1.5mm. Dentine was treated with 37% phosphoric acid prior to Z 100 placement without using bonding resin(group 1). In group 2, SMP(Scotchbond Multi Purpose) primer, bonding resin prior to Z 100 placement were applied sequently. In group 3, moulds with internal dimensions 4mm diameter by 2mm depth were used to contain the composite alone with an equvalent mass on tooth model, and then they were immersed directly into water. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the release rate and quantity of TEGDMA with or without the application of bonding resin. Both release rate and total cumulative amount of TEGDMA for the three groups were determined using reversed-phase HPLC at times up to 10 days. The results were as follows: 1. All experimental groups showed the highest rate of release was in the first sample period(0-4.32 min) and the rate of release declined exponentially thereafter. 2. The maximum release rate and total cumulative account of TEGDMA in the tooth model of group 1 and group 2 with the use of SMP bonding resin were reduced however ther were no significant differences between these groups(P>0.05). 3. In the first sample period(0-4.32 min), the rate of release of TEGDMA from composite resin in group 3 immersed directly into water was significantly higher than that in group 1 and group 2 of tooth model(P<0.05). Conclusively, TEGDMA diffusion from Z 100 resin was not effectively prevented by the presence of dentin in spite of using the SMP bonding resin.
