  • 본 연구에서는 연료 따른 End-Burning 하이브리드 추진 시스템의 연소 특성을 파악하기 위한 실험적 연구를 수행하였다. 연료로는 PMMA, PE를 사용하였으며 산화제는 기체 산소를 사용하였다. 연료의 후퇴율은 산화제 유량뿐만 아니라 연료의 열역학적 성질의 함수이다. 본 실험을 통하여 연료의 후퇴율이 산화제 유량과 물질전달계수인 B number로 표현된 경험식을 얻었다.

  • 단일 포트 하이브리드 로켓의 다양한 연료에 따른 후퇴율 변화를 수행하였다. 연료는 PE, PMMA를 사용하였고, 산화제는 기체 산소를 사용하였다. 후퇴율은 산화제 유량뿐만 아니라, 연료의 열역학적 특성과도 관계가 있다. 본 연구에서는 물질 전달계수(B number)와 산화제 유량과의 관계를 고려한 실험식을 구하였다.

수직 흡수전열관의 흡수성능에 미치는 스프링의 영향 (Influence of Spring on The Absorption Performance of a Vertical Absorber Tube)

  • The present study investigated the enhancement of the absorption performance by the spring wrapped around the outer surface of the vertical falling film absorber tube. Heat and mass transfer enhancements were experimentally investigated, and flow visualization was performed to observe the wettability and flow pattern of the solution. The key experimental parameters were spring diameter (0.5, 1.0 mm) and spring pitch (1, 3, 10 mm), film Reynolds number (50~150), and concentration of LiBr-$H_2O$ solution (55, 60, 65 wt%). As the spring diameter was increased, the absorption mass flux, Sherwood number, Nusselt number, heat flux, and heat transfer coefficient were increased The Nusselt and Sherwood numbers showed the maximum at the spring pitch of 3mm, and the ratio of pitch to diameter of approximately 3 and 6 for the spring diamter of 0.5 mm, respectively.

  • The present study investigates the local heat/mass transfer characteristics on a rotating disk which is the top disk covered with a shroud in HDD. The naphthalene sublimation technique is employed to determine the local heat/mass transfer coefficients on the rotating disk. Flow field measurements using Laser Doppler Anemometry (LDA) and numerical calculations are performed to analyze the flow patterns induced by the disk rotation. HDD has been developed for compactness and speedy data access, thus the rotating velocity of the disk is increased and the height of a hub is decreased. The experiments are conducted for the various hub heights of 5, 10 and 15 mm, for the rotating Reynolds numbers of $5.5{\times}10^4$ to $1.1{\times}10^5$ and for the effects of the presence of a read/write head arm. The results show that the heat transfer on the rotating disk is enhanced considerably for the decrease of the hub height and for the increase of the rotating Reynolds number. The head arm inserted in the cavity decreases the heat transfer despite the enhancement of tangential RMS velocity because of the deficit of the momentum in the flow field.

  • The heat/mass transfer characteristics on the plane tip surface of a high-turning first-stage turbine rotor blade has been investigated by employing the naphthalene sublimation technique. The heat/mass transfer coefficient is measured for four tip clearance height-to-chord ratios of h/c = 1.0%, 2.0%, 3.0%, and 4% at the Reynolds number of $2.09{\times}105$. The result shows that at lower h/c, there exists a strong flow separation/re-attachment process, which results in severe thermal load along the pressure-side comer. As h/c increases, the re-attachment is occurred further downstream of the pressure-side comer with lower thermal load. At higher h/c, a pair of vortices on the tip surface near the leading edge are found along the pressure-side and suction-side comers, and the pressure-side tip vortex have significant influence even on the mid-chord local heat transfer.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 평판의 선단에 설치된 트리핑 와이어에 의한 경계층 박리가 층류에서 난류로의 천이에 미치는 영향과 그 결과로 발생하는 물질전달에 미치는 영향을 규명하는 것이다. 나프탈렌승화법을 사용하여 평판에서의 국소물질전달계수를 측정하였으며, 유동 경계층의 효과를 평가하기 위해 발달된 유동과 발달하는 유동의 조건에서 트리핑 와이어가 설치된 평판에서의 국소물질전달계수를 설치되지 않은 평판에서의 값과 비교하였다. 발달하는 유동에서 국소물질전달계수가 변화하는 경향은 트리핑 와이어가 설치된 평판과 설치되지 않은 평판이 비슷하지만 발달된 유동에서는 상당히 다르게 나타났다. 평균 Sherwood 수는 경계층 박리로 인하여 트리핑와이어가 설치된 평판이 설치되지 않은 평판에 비해서 훨씬 높았다.

  • The present study has been performed to investigate the influences of rectangular fins on heat transfer in an impingement/effusion cooling system with crossflow. To simulate the impingement/effusion cooling system with initial crossflow, two perforated plates are placed in parallel and staggered arrangements with a gap distance of 2 times of the hole diameter. The crossflow passes between the plates, and various rectangular fins are installed on the plates. Reynolds number based on the hole diameter is fixed to 10,000 and the flow rate of crossflow is changed from 0.5 to 1.5 times of that of the impinging jet. A naphthalene sublimation method is used to obtain the heat/mass transfer coefficients on the effusion plate. Also to analyze the flow characteristics, a numerical calculation is performed. When rectangular fins are installed, the flow and heat transfer pattern is changed greatly from the case without fins. In the injection hole region, the jet impinges on effusion plate without deflection and wall jet spreads symmetrically. In the effusion region, the crossflow accelerates due to the decrease of cross-sectional area in the channel. Local heat/mass transfer coefficients are enhanced significantly compared to the case without fins. As the blowing ratio increases, the effect of rectangular fins against the crossflow becomes more significant and then the higher average heat/mass transfer coefficients are obtained than the case without fins. However, the increase of blockage effect gives more pressure loss in the channel.

Intake Valve Temperature Effect on the Mixture Preparation in a SI Engine During Warm-up

  • A heat transfer model of the intake valve in a spark ignition engine is presented, which is calibrated with a number of the valve temperature profiles measured during engine warm-up for the gaseous fuel(propane). The valve is divided into four identical elements for which the assumption of lumped thermal mass is applied. The calibration is made so that the difference between the measued and simulated valve temperatures becomes minimal. Then the model is applied to the cases of the liquid fuel(indolene) to estimate the amount of the liquid fuel vaporized from the intake valve by assuming that fuel evaporation accounts for the deficit of the heat balance budget. The results of the model show quantitative contribution of each heat transfer source to the heat balance. The behavior of the calculated mass fraction of the fuel vaporized from the intake valve explains how the liquid fuel evaporate during engine warm-up. The mass fraction at warmed-up condition is closely related with the fraction directly targeted on the valve back by the fuel spray geometry.

  • Studies of the effectiveness of anthraquinone (AQ) in kraft-AQ pulping in terms of its mechanism of mass transfer have been conducted. Experiments performed have demonstrated an 'apparent solubility' of AQ in caustic solutions of wood lignin. The adsorption behavior of AQ species was also analyzed. Anthraquinone-2-sulfonic acid (AQ-S), a water-soluble derivative of AQ, showed selective adsorption on wood. A mechanism for the transport of AQ into wood chips during kraft pulping are proposed, and some explanations for previously unexplained observations are addressed.
