  • The dynamical rotor system is investigated through the derivation and formulations of the dynamic equation of the rotating system in terms of both inertial and fixed frame of the system as well as quaternion. The investigation is aimed at analyzing the dynamical rotating system precession speed. The resulting equations of motion consist of the consistent mass matrix and gyroscopic matrix. The formulation shows its features and difference between its linearity and nonlinearity.

  • Since 1992, Philips has been developing polymer OLEDs resulting in a first commercial monochrome display just 10 years later. Philips is now focusing on the technology development required to mass-produce full-color polymer OLDE displays, based on passive and active-matrix addressing. High precision inkjet printing has been chosen as the deposition technology for the OLED material. In this paper, we give an overview of the activities of Philips in the area of mobile OLED applications and explore the route towards large screen OLED television.

  • A thermal vapor deposition method for crystallization of insoluble analytes with matrix is established as a new sample preparation method for matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS). A mixture of mono, bis and tris(p-ethyl benzylidene) sorbitols was incorporated into microcrystals of ferulic acid, which was confirmed by confocal micrographs. Molecular masses of sorbitol derivatives were determined in this way by MALDI-MS without thermal decomposition.

  • This paper describes a transfer matrix approach to analyze the dynamics of a high sped flexible rotor system supported at 2 positions by five ceramic bearings. The rotor system is modelled as lumped parameters in which many factors are considered not only lumped inertia or mass, bending moment, shear force but also gyroscopic effect and unbalance. The equation of motion is derived in the transfer matrix form, from which the eigenvalues equation is also derived. The transfer natural frequencies and modes. The eigenvalues, eigenmodes, campbell diagram, whirling critical speed, whirling modes, and the response of unbalance are calculated and discussed.

  • Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS) is widely known as highly sensitive a surface analysis technique. Efforts for quantification have been hindered, however, by the presence of matrix effects. Here we describe a new technique for the quantitative analysis of AlxGa1-xAs. Instead of Al+, Ga+, As+ ions, CsX+ ions (X=Al, Ga, As) have been detected. Intensity of these molecular ions appears to be much less affected by matrix effects. We have successfully accomplished the compositional analysis with standard deviation better than 2 percent.

  • This paper describes the general formulation for free vibration analysis of rotor by the transfer matrix method. For solving structural dynamics problems, it is used the transfer matrix method. The rotor of the induction motor for main coolant pump is regarded as a distributed mass system.

  • In the present work a finite element formulation using dynamic explicit time integration scheme is used for numerical analysis of auto-body panel stamping processes. The lumping scheme is employed for the diagonal mass matrix and linearizing dynamic formulation. A contact scheme is developed by combining the skew boundary condition and direct trial-and-error method. In this work, for economic analysis the faster punch velocity and the mass scaling method are introduced. To investigate the effects of punch velocity and mass scaling, the various values of punch velocity and the various mass scalings are used for numerical analysis. Computations are carried out for analysis of complicated auto-body panel stamping processes such as forming of an oil pan and a fuel tank.

  • In this paper, the dynamic stability of a cracked cantilever pipe conveying fluid with tip mass is investigated. The pipe is modelled by the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory in which rotatory inertia and shear deformation effects are ignored. The equation of motion is derived by the energy expressions using extended Hamilton's Principle. The crack section is represented by a local flexibility matrix connecting two undamaged pipe segments. The influence of the crack severity, the position of crack, the mass ratio, and a tip mass on the stability of a cantilever pipe conveying fluid are studied by the numerical method. Besides, the critical flow velocity and the stability maps of the pipe system as a function of mass ratios($\beta$) for the changing each parameter are obtained.
