  • The purpose of this study was to examine whether the effect of feedback would mask the performance differences that would result from different incentive pay distribution. Five critical service behaviors were identified and measured daily at a gas station located in Seoul. Participants were 5 employees working at the gas station. Independent variables were the types of incentive distribution and feedback. After baseline (A), equally-distributed group incentive condition (B) was introduced, and individual incentive condition (C) was introduced in the next phase. Then, after the withdrawal condition (A'), equally-distributed group incentive with feedback condition (B') was introduced and finally, the individual incentive with feedback condition (C') was introduced. The results suggested that all employees showed higher work performance under individual incentive than equally-distributed group incentive system when feedback were not delivered. However, there was no difference in work performance between two incentive conditions in the phases in which feedback were delivered. These findings suggest that feedback can reduce performance differences between equally-distributed group incentives and individual incentives.

  • We examined previous studies of the correlation analysis of heart rate variability as a method to reduce the stress caused by outside noise during driving, and we investigated whether there are electrocardiographic changes when drivers play music, which provides a stable sound source amid the noise. Because the number of cars increases every year, drivers and passengers show an increase in stress caused by outside noise. The stress from outside noise while a person is driving can cause several disorders, such as anxiety, immunosuppression, depression, and heart disease. Subjects in this study operated a vehicle simulator to reduce the stress from outside noise and were given different auditory stimuli, and we studied the drivers' responses to the stimuli. Repeated-measures analysis of variance revealed a significant differences between subjects exposed to different auditory stimuli (ρ < 0.05). Through post hoc analyses, we examined these differences. We found significant differences between factor 1 (stability) and factor 2 (simulation driving), between factor 1 (stability) and factor 3 (driving + police siren), and between factor 1 (stability) and factor 4 (driving + police siren + music). In addition, the factor that produced the highest level of sympathetic nervous system activity was factor 4 (driving + police siren + music), followed by factor 3 (driving + police siren), factor 2 (driving), and factor 1 (stability). In conclusion, even when a police siren was heard during driving, there were no significant differences on electrocardiograms (ECGs). In addition, even when the siren was heard over the music, there was no difference on the ECGs (ρ < 0.01). In future studies, investigators should determine which types of music help stabilize the heart rate during driving.

  • In this paper, we propose an automatic lower extremity vessel extraction based on rigid registration and bone elimination techniques in CT and CT angiography images. First, automatic partitioning of the lower extremity based on the anatomy is proposed to consider the local movement of the bone. Second, rigid registration based on distance map is performed to estimate the movement of the bone between CT and CT angiography images. Third, bone elimination and vessel masking techniques are proposed to remove bones in CT angiography image and to prevent the vessel near to bone from eroding. Fourth, post-processing based on vessel tracking is proposed to reduce the effect of misalignment and noises like a cartilage. For the evaluation of our method, we performed the visual inspection, accuracy measures and processing time. For visual inspection, the results of applying general subtraction, registered subtraction and proposed method are compared using volume rendering and maximum intensity projection. For accuracy evaluation, intensity distributions of CT angiography image, subtraction based method and proposed method are analyzed. Experimental result shows that bones are accurately eliminated and vessels are robustly extracted without the loss of other structure. The total processing time of thirteen patient datasets was 40 seconds on average.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to compare landmark position between cephalometric radiography and midsagittal plane projected images from 3 dimensional (3D) CT. Methods: Cephalometric radiographs and CT scans were taken from 20 patients for treatment of mandibular prognathism. After selection of land-marks, CT images were projected to the midsagittal plane and magnified to 110% according to the magnifying power of radiographs. These 2 images were superimposed with frontal and occipital bone. Common coordinate system was established on the base of FH plane. The coordinate value of each landmark was compared by paired t test and mean and standard deviation of difference was calculated. Results: The difference was from $-0.14{\pm}0.65$ to $-2.12{\pm}2.89\;mm$ in X axis, from $0.34{\pm}0.78$ to $-2.36{\pm}2.55\;mm$ ($6.79{\pm}3.04\;mm$) in Y axis. There was no significant difference only 9 in X axis, and 7 in Y axis out of 20 landmarks. This might be caused by error from the difference of head positioning, by masking the subtle end structures, identification error from the superimposition and error from the different definition.

  • AS a part of investigation to use anchovy more effectively as food source, this work was undertaken the processing conditions of extracts from rapid fermented anchovy sauce. To prepare rapid fermented products, the chopped anchovy was mixed with 50% water (w/w), and then hydrolyzed by autolysis or addition of koji under different conditions of hydrolysis. The optimal conditions for hydrolysis of chopped anchovy were revealed $50^{\circ}C$, 6 hours, pH 8.0 by autolysis, and ,$50^{\circ}C$, 6 hours, pH 7.0 by addition of 10% koji, respectively. But, pH control was not much beneficial in increasing yield. The effect of soybean protein isolote for improvement of bitter taste was also tested. The reasonable amount of added soybean protein isolate was revealed 5% on the weight basis of the chopped anchovy. The reaction mixture hydrolyzed under optimal conditions were added with 1% onion powder (w/w), 1% garlic powder(w/w) and 1% red pepper powder(w/w) for masking fishy odor, inactivated for 20 min at $100^{\circ}C$, and then centrifuged for 20 min at 4,000 rpm. The supernatant liquor was filtrated and evaporated to 50%(v/v). finally, table salt was added for bateriostatic effect and characteristic taste of rapid fermented products. the reasonable amount of added table salt was reversed 15% on the volume basis of the evaporated liquor. The hydrolysis ratio of product made by addition of water, product made by addition of koji and water, and product made by addition of soybean protein isolate, koji and water hydrolyzed under optimal conditions were 58.4%, 82.1% and 86.2%, respectively.

  • Side-channel attacks including the differential power analysis attack are often more powerful than classical cryptanalysis and have to be seriously considered by cryptographic algorithm's implementers. Various countermeasures have been proposed against such attacks. In this paper, we deal with the masking method, which is known to be a very effective countermeasure against the differential power analysis attack and propose new gate-level conversion methods between Boolean and arithmetic masks. The new methods require only 6n-5 XOR and 2n-2 AND gates with 3n-2 gate delay for converting n-bit masks. The basic idea of the proposed methods is that the carry and the sum bits in the ripple adder are manipulated in a way that the adversary cannot detect the relation between these bits and the original raw data. Since the proposed methods use only bitwise operations, they are especially useful for DPA-securely implementing cryptographic algorithms in hardware which use both Boolean and arithmetic operations. For example, we applied them to securely implement the block encryption algorithm SEED in hardware and present its detailed implementation result.

  • The optimal amount of loquat leaf extract (LLE, $18^{\circ}$ Brix), fructose, and cream were determined to develop a rice beverage supplemented with LLE. The loquat leaves were extracted by water at $80^{\circ}C$ for 6 hrs and then concentrated to 18% of solid for 1 hr at the same temperature to extraction. To investigate the optimal concentration of the additives, the response surface methodology (RSM) was employed for the experimental design. The addition amounts of the additives were coded. Sweetness, bitterness, off-taste, color, taste preference, and total preference were affected significantly (P<0.05) by the addition of LLE, fructose, and cream. Cream masked the bitterness and off-taste. The total preference of the LLEsupplemented rice beverage showed a lower score than the commercialiy available rice beverages. To achieve the preference level of the commercial rice beverages, the regression between fructose and LLE concentration was calculated as: fructose= $0.618{\times}(LLE)^2+0.406{\times}(LLE)$. Conclusively, cream had an effect of masking the bitterness of rice milk, and the preference was highly related to the addition amount of fructose.

  • An attempt to grow high quality GaN on silicon substrate using metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD), herein GaN epitaxial layers were grown on various Si(111) substrates. Thin Platinum layer was deposited on Si(111) substrate using sputtering, followed by thermal annealing to form Pt nano-clusters which act as masking layer during dry-etched with inductively coupled plasma-reactive ion etching to generate nano-patterned Si(111) substrate. In addition, micro-patterned Si(111) substrate with circle shape was also fabricated by using conventional photo-lithography technique. GaN epitaxial layers were subsequently grown on micro-, nano-patterned and conventional Si (111) substrate under identical growth conditions for comparison. The GaN layer grown on nano-patterned Si (111) substrate shows the lowest crack density with mirror-like surface morphology. The FWHM values of XRD rocking curve measured from symmetry (002) and asymmetry (102) planes are 576 arcsec and 828 arcsec, respectively. To corroborate an enhancement of the growth quality, the FWHM value achieved from the photoluminescence spectra also shows the lowest value (46.5 meV) as compare to other grown samples.

  • In this paper, a algorithm to find joints of a small animal like a lizard from the multiple-view silhouette images is presented. The proposed algorithm is able to calculate the 3D coordinates so that the locomotion of the lizard is markerlessly reconstructed. The silhouette images of the lizard was obtained by a adaptive threshold algorithm. The skeleton image of the silhouette image was obtained by Zhang-Suen method. The back-bone line, head and tail point were detected with the A* search algorithm and the elimination of the ortho-diagonal connection algorithm. Shoulder joints and hip joints of a lizard were found by $3{\times}3$ masking of the thicked back-bone line. Foot points were obtained by morphology calculation. Finally elbow and knee joint were calculated by the ortho distance from the lines of foot points and shoulder/hip joint. The performance of the suggested algorithm was evaluated through the experiment of detecting joints of a small lizard.

  • The author has studied the effect of clothes design to mask the dorsal curvature that is one of the commonest changes in elderly women. Body measurements including the body type and the status of dorsal curvature were perfor-med on 153 women of over 60 years of age, and then a body form to fit to the mean measure-ments was made to evaluate the effects of various designs to it. With 31 pattern designs modified by changing in their slash lines and gathers using darts, the diminishing effect of the rounded back were evaluated by means of sensory test. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: I . Results from the body measurements 1) The mean body type in elderly women was that of obesity. 2) With the advancement of age, the angle to indicate the degree of dorsal curvature as well as the angle to indicate the posture are increased. II . Concerning to the clothes design to diminish the shape of dorsal curvature 1) Among the designs by the position of darts, the basic pattern (Fig. 5-1-(1)) showed the best effect to mask the shape of dorsal curvature. 2) Out of the applied designs of princess lines, that in which the slash line is pointing toward the shoulder point (Fig. 5-2-(1)) seemed to be most effective. 3) What has angled princess line (Fig. 5-3-(1)) had the most diminishing effect among the waist darts and armhole princess lines. 4) Among the V-shaped designs, the slashed at the shoulder point (Fig. 5-4-(1)) had the best effect to lessen the shape of the dorsal cuuature. 5) Wider angle yoke had better effect to the narrow angle one among the designs with straight yoke, and that with downward direction (Fig. 5-5-(1)) showed the best effect. 6) Between straight wide angle yoke and curved yoke, that of curved one with downward direction (Fig. 5-6-(1)) had better effect as far as the masking effect of dorsal curvature is concerned. 7) Gathers around the neck showed better effect to those around the shoulder, and the more amount of gathers (Fig. 5-7-(1)), there was better effect. 8) The design with midline gathers at the level of horizontal slash line of armhole (Fig. 5-8-(1)) showed better effect to that with seperated gathers. 9) In case of design with gathers at the horizontal line of armhole, it showed the better effect with less amount of gathers in midline ones, but with more amount in the side ones. 10) Considering all 7 different designs with better effect in covering the shape of dorsal curvature, it was evident that the design with gathers was far better than the design with application of slash lines.
