  • In general, the importance of 6DoF (degree of freedom) 3D (dimension) volumetric contents technology is emerging in 5G (generation) telepresence service, Web-based (WebGL) graphics, computer vision, robotics, and next-generation augmented reality. Since it is possible to acquire RGB images and depth images in real-time through depth sensors that use various depth acquisition methods such as time of flight (ToF) and lidar, many changes have been made in object detection, tracking, and recognition research. In this paper, we propose a method to improve the quality of 3D models for 5G telepresence by processing images acquired through depth and RGB cameras on a multi-view camera system. In this paper, the quality is improved in two major ways. The first concerns the shape of the 3D model. A method of removing noise outside the object by applying a mask obtained from a color image and a combined filtering operation to obtain the difference in depth information between pixels inside the object were proposed. Second, we propose an illumination compensation method for images acquired through a multi-view camera system for photo-realistic 3D model generation. It is assumed that the three-dimensional volumetric shooting is done indoors, and the location and intensity of illumination according to time are constant. Since the multi-view camera uses a total of 8 pairs and converges toward the center of space, the intensity and angle of light incident on each camera are different even if the illumination is constant. Therefore, all cameras take a color correction chart and use a color optimization function to obtain a color conversion matrix that defines the relationship between the eight acquired images. Using this, the image input from all cameras is corrected based on the color correction chart. It was confirmed that the quality of the 3D model could be improved by effectively removing noise due to the proposed method when acquiring images of a 3D volumetric object using eight cameras. It has been experimentally proven that the color difference between images is reduced.

  • It takes a long time for the users to view a whole image from the image server under the low-bandwidth internet environments or in case of a big sized image. In this case, as there needs a technique that preferentially transfers a part of image, JPEG2000 offers a ROI(Region-of-Interest) coding. In ROI coding, the users see the thumbnail of image from the server and specifies some regions that they want to see first. And then if an information about the regions are informed to the server, the server preferentially transfers the regions of the image. The existing methods requested a huge time to compute the mask information, but this thesis approximately computes the regions and reduces the creating time of the ROI masks. If each code block is a mixed block which ROI and background are mixed, the proper boundary points should be acquired. Searching the edges of the block, getting the two points on the edge, to get the boundary point inside the code block, the method searches a mid point between the two edge points. The proposed method doesn't have a big difference compared to the existing methods in quality, but the processing time is more speedy than the ones.

  • Iris recognition is biometric technology which uses a unique iris pattern of user in order to identify person. In the captured iris image by conventional iris recognition camera, it is often the case with eyelid occlusion, which covers iris information. The eyelids are unnecessary information that causes bad recognition performance, so this paper proposes robust algorithm in order to detect eyelid. This research has following three advantages compared to previous works. First, we remove the detected eyelash and specular reflection by linear interpolation method because they act as noise factors when locating eyelid. Second, we detect the candidate points of eyelid by using mask in limited eyelid searching area, which is determined by searching the cross position of eyelid and the outer boundary of iris. And our proposed algorithm detects eyelid by using parabolic hough transform based on the detected candidate points. Third, there have been many researches to detect eyelid, but they did not consider the rotation of eyelid in an iris image. Whereas, we consider the rotation factor in parabolic hough transform to overcome such problem. We tested our algorithm with CASIA Database. As the experimental results, the detection accuracy were 90.82% and 96.47% in case of detecting upper and lower eyelid, respectively.

  • Since existing thematic maps have been made with medium- to low-resolution satellite images, they have several shortcomings including low positional accuracy and low precision of presented thematic information. Digital aerial photo image taken recently can express panchromatic and color bands as well as NIR (Near Infrared) bands which can be used in interpreting forest areas. High resolution images are also available, so it would be possible to conduct precision land cover classification. In this context, this paper implemented object-based land cover classification by using digital aerial photos with 0.12m GSD (Ground Sample Distance) resolution and IKONOS satellite images with 1m GSD resolution, both of which were taken on the same area, and also executed qualitative analysis with ortho images and existing land cover maps to check the possibility of object-based land cover classification using digital aerial photos and to present usability of digital aerial photos. Also, the accuracy of such classification was analyzed by generating TTA(Training and Test Area) masks and also analyzed their accuracy through comparison of classified areas using screen digitizing. The result showed that it was possible to make a land cover map with digital aerial photos, which allows more detailed classification compared to satellite images.

  • Fear of contact exists due to the prevention of the spread of infectious diseases such as COVID-19. When using the common entrance door of an apartment, access is possible only if the resident enters a password or obtains the resident's permission. There is the inconvenience of having to manually enter the number and password for the common entrance door to enter. Also, contactless entry is required due to COVID-19. Due to the development of ICT, users can be easily identified through the development of face recognition and voice recognition technology. The proposed method detects a visitor's face through a CCTV or camera attached to the common entrance door, recognizes the face, and identifies it as a registered resident. Then, based on the registered information of the resident, it is possible to operate without contact by interworking with the elevator on the server. In particular, if face recognition fails with a hat or mask, the visitor is identified by voice or additional authentication of the visitor is performed based on the voice message. It is possible to block the spread of contagiousness without leaving any contactless function and fingerprint information when entering and exiting the front door of an apartment house, and without the inconvenience of access.

  • This study is to make snowfall distribution map for the 4 heavy snowfall events of January 2001, March of 2004, December of 2005 and January of 2010, and compare the results for three cases of construction methods. The cases are to generate the map by applying IDW(Inverse Distance Weighting) interpolation to 76 ground measured snowfall point data (Snow Depth Map; SDM), mask out the SDM with the MODIS snow cover area (MODIS SCA) of Terra MODIS (MODerate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) (SDM+MODIS SCA; SDM_M), and consider the snowdepth lapse rate of snowfall by elevation (Digital Elevation Model; DEM) to the second case (SDM_M+DEM; SDM_MD). By applying the MODIS SCA, the SCA of 4 events was 62.9%, 44.1%, 52.0%, and 69.0% for the area of South Korea. For the average snow depth, the SDM_M decreased 0.9cm, 1.9cm, 0.8cm, and 1.5cm compared to SDM and the SDM_MD increased 1.3cm, 0.9cm, 0.4cm, and 1.2cm respectively.

  • Spectrum spreading, in its general form, can be conceived as an artificial expansion of the signal bandwidth with respect to the minimum Nyquist band required to transmit the desired information. Spreading can be functional to several objectives, including resilience to interference and jammers and reduction of power spectral density levels. In the paper, signal spreading is manly used for increasing the received energy, thus satisfying link budget constraints, for terminals with low aperture antennas, without increasing the transmitted EIRP. As a matter of fact, in many mobile scenarios, even when MODCOD configurations with very low spectral efficiency (i.e. QPSK-1/4) in DVB-S2 standard, are used, the link budget cannot be closed. Spectrum spreading has been recently proposed as a technique to improve system performance without introducing additional MODCOD configurations under the constraint of fixed power spectrum density level at the transmitter side. To this aim, the design of spectrum spreading techniques shall keep into consideration requirements such as spectrum mask, physical layer performance, link budget, hardware reuse, robustness, complexity, and backward compliance with existing commercial equipments. The proposed implementation allows to fully reuse the standard DVB-S2 circuitry and is inserted as an 'inner layer' in the standard DVB-S2 chain.

  • In this work, we investigated the enhanced performance of IZO-based TFTs with $HfSiO_x$ gate insulators. Four types of $HfSiO_x$ gate insulators using different diposition powers were deposited by co-sputtering $HfO_2$ and Si target. To simplify the processing sequences, all of the layers composing of TFTs were deposited by rf-magnetron sputtering method using patterned shadow-masks without any intentional heating of substrate and subsequent thermal annealing. The four different $HfSiO_x$ structural properties were investigated x-ray diffraction(XRD), atomic force microscopy(AFM) and also analyzed the electrical characteristics. There were some noticeable differences depending on the composition of the $HfO_2$ and Si combination. The TFT based on $HfSiO_x$ gate insulator with $HfO_2$(100W)-Si(100W) showed the best results with a field effect mobility of 2.0[$cm^2/V{\cdot}s$], a threshold voltage of -0.5[V], an on/off ratio of 5.89E+05 and RMS of 0.26[nm]. This show that the composition of the $HfO_2$ and Si is an important factor in an $HfSiO_x$ insulator. In addition, the effective bonding of $HfO_2$ and Si reduced the defects in the insulator bulk and also improved the interface quality between the channel and the gate insulator.

  • In this paper, we present two types of vision algorithm that mobile robot has CCD camera. for obstacle avoidance. This is simple algorithm that compare with grey level from input images. Also, The mobile robot depend on image processing and move command from PC host. we has been studied self controlled mobile robot system with CCD camera. This system consists of digital signal processor, step motor, RF module and CCD camera. we used wireless RF module for movable command transmitting between robot and host PC. This robot go straight until recognize obstacle from input image that preprocessed by edge detection, converting, thresholding. And it could avoid the obstacle when recognize obstacle by line histogram intensity. Host PC measurement wave from various line histogram each 20 pixel. This histogram is (x, y) value of pixel. For example, first line histogram intensity wave from (0, 0) to (0, 197) and last wave from (280, 0) to (2n, 197. So we find uniform wave region and nonuniform wave region. The period of uniform wave is obstacle region. we guess that algorithm is very useful about moving robot for obstacle avoidance.
