This paper reports the performance of a 150W PV-wave hybrid system with battery storage in buoy. This system was originally designed to meet a new hybrid ower system for buoy in Korea. In the case or lighted buoys and lighthouses, a light failure alarm system of wireless radio is attached so that light failures are immediately notified to the office. At lighthouse offshore fixed lights and light buoys where commercial electricity is not available, the power source depends on solar system and batteries. This power system has a various problems. Therefore energy derived from the sunshine, wind and waves has been used as the energy source lot aids to navigation. Recently a hybrid system of combining the solar, wind and the wave generator is a favorable system lot the ocean facilities like lighthouse and buoy. The hybrid system in this paper is intended for variable DC load like light, communication system in the buoy and includes a PV-wane generation system and battery. This is composed a high efficiency charging algorithm, switching converter and controller. This paper includes discussion on system reliability, power quality, and effects of hybrid system in the buoy. Simulation and experimental results show excellent performance.
It is said to be very difficult to maintain the aids to navigation such as buoys end lighthouses due to their geographical characteristics. This paper, as a part task of the construction of aids to navigation control center, describes the method to make the module for remote-controlling lighthouses and buoys. We become to be able nor only to get informations such as the condition of lights and batteries, but also to control remotely the aids to navigation by using microwaves so as to maintain them in good condition.

As a method to understand the ecological habits around the artificial reef, various reports such as fishing gear survey, diving, sound survey, underwater CCTV and camera, etc. are reported. Among them, the sound survey method is carried out by installing an acoustic system on the ship and can be investigated regardless of the marine environment such as time constraints and turbidity. Such method, however, takes a lot of manpower and time as the ship travels at a constant speed. Investigations around artificial reefs are being conducted in an artificial way, and a lot of time and labor are consumed as such. Maritime buoys have been operated for various purposes such as route signs, weather observation, marine environment monitoring and defense monitoring for navigation safety in the past, but studies on monitoring systems for ecological habits and distribution of fish using marine buoys are remarkably insufficient. Therefore, this study aims to develop a system that allows users to directly monitor fish group detector data by estimating the distribution of fish groups around artificial reefs and using wireless communication at sea. In order to confirm the suitability of the maritime buoy used in this study, it was operated to compare data using LTE-equipped buoys capable of wireless communication and a data logger-type system buoy. Data transmission of buoys capable of LTE communication was carried out in a 10-minute ON, 10-minute OFF method due to the limitation of the power supply capacity, and data of the data logger-type buoy received full data. We compared and analyzed the data received from the two fish detectors. It is expected that real-time monitoring of the wireless buoy detection device using LTE will be possible through future research.

Maritime activities are on the rise, there is a growing demand for high-quality communication services that can cover larger areas. However, the transmission of high data rates to maritime users is challenging due to path loss from land base stations, which limits the transmission power. To overcome this challenge, researchers have been exploring the use of buoys in a marine environment as relays for communication technology. This paper proposes a simulation-based approach to investigate the impact of various beamwidths on communication performance when using a buoy as a relay. The objective is to determine the optimal beamwidth that yields the highest data rate for the target location. The approach is based on an offshore wave model where the direction of the buoy changes according to the height of the wave. The study investigates the performance of the relay in the downlink situation using receive beamforming, and the capacity at the user in the three-hop situation is verified using an amplify-and-forward (AF) relay that uses transmit beamforming to the user. The simulation results suggest that the beamwidth of the relay should be adjusted according to the wave conditions to optimize the data rate and relay position that satisfies a data rate superior to the direct path to the target position. Using a buoy as a relay can be a promising solution for enhancing maritime communications, and the simulation-based approach proposed in this paper can provide insights into how to optimize beamwidth for effective communication system design and implementation. In conclusion, the study results suggest that the use of buoys as relays for maritime communication is a feasible solution for expanding coverage and enhancing communication quality. The proposed simulation-based approach provides a useful tool for identifying relay beamwidths for achieving higher data rates in different wave conditions. These findings have significant implications for the design and deployment of communication systems in maritime environments.
In this study a tendency of abnormal sea surface temperature (SST) occurrence in the seas around South Korea is analyzed from daily SST data from satellite and 14 buoys from August 2020 to July 2021. As thresholds 28℃ and 4℃ are used to determine marine heatwaves(MHWs) and abnormal low water temperature (ALWT), respectively, because those values are adopted by the National Institute of Fisheries Science for the breaking news of abnormal temperature. In order to calculate frequency of abnormal SST occurrence spatially by using satellite SST, research area was divided into six areas of coast and three open seas. ALWT dominantly appeared over a wide area (7,745 km2) in Gyeonggi Bay for total 94 days and it was also confirmed from buoy temperature showing an occurrence number of 47 days. MHWs tended to be high in frequency in the coastal areas of Chungcheongdo and Jeollabukdo and the south coastal areas while in case of buoy temperature Jupo was the place of high frequency (32 days). This difference was supposed to be due to the low accuracy of satellite SST at the coasts. MHWs are also dominant in offshore waters around Korean Peninsula. Although detecting abnormal SST by using satellite SST has advantage of understanding occurrence from a spatial point of view, we also need to perform detection using buoys to increase detection accuracy along the coast.
This paper presents a novel shore-to-sea maritime data transmission system based on time-code diversity, using visible light in maritime environments to overcome the limitations of conventional maritime wireless communications. The proposed system is primarily comprised of existing LED-based lighthouses and maritime transceivers (marine beacons, buoys, etc.), and thus is considered cost-effective in terms of implementation. We first analyze maritime visible-light communications on the basis of the unique properties of a maritime environment, i.e. sea states (wave height, wind speed, etc.), plus atmospheric turbulence, using the Pierson-Moskowitz (PM) and JONSWAP (JS) spectrum models. It is found that the JS model outperforms the PM model, and that the coverage distance depends on the LED power and sea states. To combat maritime fading conditions that significantly degrade performance and coverage distance, we propose a time-code diversity (TCD) scheme in which the delayed versions of the original data are retransmitted using orthogonal Walsh codes. This TCD scheme is found to be superior, in that it offers three orders of magnitude in terms of BER performance, compared to a conventional (non-TCD) transmission scheme. The proposed scheme is robust and efficient in overcoming the effect of impairments present in maritime environments with a BER of approximately $10^{-5}$and a data rate of 100 Kbps at a distance of 1 km.

Currently, communication at sea is more difficult than communication at inland due to the movement of route signs by waves. This paper conducts research on relay transmission and reception techniques to extend coverage in uplink situations. The uplink maritime communication environment between inland base stations and buoys located a certain distance inland was viewed as two hops, and a beam generated according to the number of antennas was selected and a performance analysis was conducted considering the movement of buoys measured by sensors.
The light buoy installed on the sea is always flexible, because it is affected by the weather as well as passing vessels. The position of the light buoy can be cached through the AtoN AIS (Automatic Identification System) and RTU (Remote Terminal Unit). This study analyzed the position data of the light buoys for the last five years (2017-2021), as well as the distribution of the light buoys within the maximum separated position. As a result, there was a basic error of 17.9% in the position data. Additionally, the separated position error of 197 light buoys to be analyzed was 70.64%, and the AtoN RTU was worse than the AtoN AIS by equipment. On the other hand, as a result of the plotting the position data of the light buoy, it was classified into four types. The most common percussion center type, the percussion center dichotomous type in which the position is divided into two zones based on the chimney, the central movement type with a fluctuating center, and the drag type, in which the position is deviated from the center for a certain period. Except for Type-1, the type was determined according to the position at which the light buoy was installed. This study is the first to analyze the position data of the light buoy, and it is expected that it will contribute to the improvement of the quality of the position data of the light buoy.

In this study, with arbitrary reference points on the water, photogrammetry accuracy analysis was conducted using unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV). A small reservoir is a research area, and twenty buoys were used as arbitrary reference points. Errors of location coordinate were identified with control of amounts of used reference points. cases are categorized by index scores per photos. Accuracy of X is 0.141m~0.166m and accuracy of Y is 0.136m~0.241m. Considering that allowable error for the maritime boundary survey is ${\pm}2m$, it is possible to get the accuracy data available for the photogrammetry of UAV using an reference point. In addition, the coefficient of correlation between the number of reference points per unit and number of buoys used as reference point and the ratio of the reference point per square measure, and percentage of buoys used as reference point and the coefficient of x and y were performed. Each element, x, and y showed a strong correlation and the coefficient of number of buoys used as reference point was irrelevant. The results of this correlation analysis can be analyzed that the number of reference points used in each picture is greater than the actual number of reference points used in location accuracy.

The traditional Aids to Navigations(AtoN) have been ensuring the safety of ships by indicating the passage and dangers by depending on the flashing lights. But the more the industrial complex behind port which is all over the country involving the Ulsan port developed, the more the lights behind port is stronger, and then the distinguishment of the signal of AtoN from the lights behind port is more difficult. And It is urgently needed to prepare the counterplan about the ensurement of safety because the authorities levels up the limit tonnage of the ships which are sail in and out during night to improve the operation of port through reducing of the traffic jam So, the method of direct lighting like LED non-neon is applied to unmanned lighthouses or light beacon, and the LED flashing number plate is applied to light buoys whose light power is weaker than to improve distinguishment and to be easy positioning of ships. As a result, the users of Ulsan port comment favorably on this item and the development of AtoN must be continuos to overcome the lights behind port.
