  • 오늘날 해상에서 이동통신 서비스는 인공위성, 레이더, VHF 장비 등 다양한 장비를 이용하여 서로 독립적인 시스템 규격과 프로토콜로 운영되고 있다. 그러나 해양산업이 점차 발달함에 따라 효율적인 해상업무와 해상 안전을 확보하기 위해 고속 무선 통신의 필요성이 증가하고 여러 가지 시스템을 통합하여 끊김없는 통신을 제공할 수 있는 e-Navigation이 출현하게 되었다. 이와 같이 해상 이동통신 서비스 요구를 만족하기 위한 차세대 VHF 데이터 시스템의 특징과 요구사항들을 시스템, 성능, 서비스 등 다양한 관점에서 제안하고자 한다.

  • We prepared paint-type and sheet-type EM wave absorbers with Mn-Zn Ferrite, Ni-Zn Ferrite, Ba Ferrite, Sr Ferrite, and Sendust against ghosts of a mater in ships. To prepare the absorbers, enamel paint and epoxy paint were used as binders. The prepared EM wave absorber's absorption properties were investigated. 바랙터 다이오드를 이용한 X-밴드 전압제어 발진기 (X-band Voltage Controlled Oscillator using Varactor Diode)

  • In this paper, a X band voltage controlled oscillator is proposed. The oscillator uses a transistor as an oscillating element and its oscillating frequencies are controlled by the tuning voltage of varactor diode. Using the circuit simulation tools, the matching circuits between the transistor and varactor diode, its input and output matching circuits, and a feedback circuits are designed. The measured results of the fabricated oscillator show that its oscillation frequencies are from 10.50GHz to 10.88GHz according to the turning voltages of 1V to 18V, its output power levels are about 4.3dBm, and its phase noise is around -43.5dBc/Hz at 100kHz offset frequency of 10.5GHz.

  • Recent Class requirements and IMO recommendations concerning Hull Strength Monitoring (HSM) have prompted an increasing number of shipowner to adopt monitoring systems on bulk carriers and tanker. Such systems are designed to give warning when stress levels and the frequency and magnitude of ship motions approach levels which require corrective action. When fitted these systems provide enhanced operational safety and efficiency. This paper describes a development beyond the standard BMT HSM system through the integration of stress, motion and radar-based sea state monitoring with powerful, on-board, artificial intelligence (AI) tools. The latter utilises conceptual clustering techniques as an aid to pattern recognition in stress, fatigue. motion and sea state data clusters. This, in turn, provides additional operational guidance for ship's staff. Feedback from applications of the standard BMT HSM and extended HSM systems on board the British Steel Bulk Shipping fleet is described.

좁은 수로에 있어서의 항법에 관한 연구 - 완도구역 연안항로를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Navigational Rules and Regulations for the Narrow Channel)

  • Recently, as the coastal trading is being increased rapidly, risk of collision being increased especially in the coastal route near around the port of Wando. In this paper, with the reference to various literatures and papers on collision avoidance rules, the navigational rules and regulations for the coastal area-especially for the narrow channel-are construed and introduced in brief. Also, 3 collision cases near around the port of Wando and statistical data during 5 years(1996 to 2000) are studied. The results of this study are as follows; 1. It is strongly recommended to separate the route of east-bound and west-bound in this area due to removing the risk of collision between the vessels in reciprocal way. 2. The owner of the fleet should lead that the master should con the vessel by himself when passing this area. 3. For the introduction of the Coastal VTS, it is required to investigate the capability to cooperate with military radar sites which based on all over the coast.

Mechanism Development and Position Control of Smart Buoy Robot

  • There is a gradual increase in the need for energy charging in marine environments because of energy limitations experienced by electric ships and marine robots. Buoys are considered potential energy charging systems, but there are several challenges, which include the need to maintain a fixed position and avoid hazards, dock with ships and robots in order to charge them, be robust to actions by birds, ships, and robots. To solve these problems, this study proposes a smart buoy robot that has multiple thrusters, multiple docking and charging parts, a bird spike, a radar reflector, a light, a camera, and an anchor, and its mechanism is developed. To verify the performance of the smart buoy robot, the position control under disturbance due to wave currents and functional tests such as docking, charging, lighting, and anchoring are performed. Experimental results show that the smart buoy robot can operate under disturbances and is functionally effective. Therefore, the smart buoy robot is suitable as an energy charging system and has potential in realistic applications.

어선의 업종에 따른 해양사고의 특징과 예방 대책 (The main factor and counterplan for marine casualties of fishing vessel according to the type of fishing job in Korea)

  • Marine casualties originated from fishing vessel occupied about 70% of the whole marine casualties in Korea from 2001 to 2010, this ratio was not much changed as it was before. Therefore a pragmatic counterplan to decrease of casualties in fishing vessel is indispensable for reduction of the nationwide marine casualties. But since the casualties occurred by fishing vessel may have a different causes and counterplan according to the operating type of it, in this paper, fishing vessels classified into 12 types by operating method and inspected the causes and counterplan for that. The operating type of fishing vessel occurred the specific casualties more were jig boat in collisions and fire explosion, trap fishing boat, mixed fishing boats and inshore gill netter in collisions, stow netter in machinery damages and capsizing, offshore gill netter in machinery damages, fish carrier in collisions. It must be emphasized that the higher ranked types of vessels, especially jig boat have to take special care to the approaching vessels under way, trap fishing boat to rear look out and mixed fishing boat must keep on safety speed and be taken an education for advance the skill of operating radar as well. For all 12 types of fishing vessel, it is necessary for an operator to make strict precaution on the other vessel under way systematically and keep the regulation for preventing collisions, and for an engineer on watch to make a check the electricity and the engines periodically for reduction the fire explosion and machinery damages.

Numerical Model Test of Spilled Oil Transport Near the Korean Coasts Using Various Input Parametric Models

  • Oil spills pose significant threats to marine ecosystems, human health, socioeconomic aspects, and coastal communities. Accurate real-time predictions of oil slick transport along coastlines are paramount for quick preparedness and response efforts. This study used an open-source OpenOil numerical model to simulate the fate and trajectories of oil slicks released during the 2007 Hebei Spirit accident along the Korean coasts. Six combinations of input parameters, derived from a five-day met-ocean dataset incorporating various hydrodynamic, meteorological, and wave models, were investigated to determine the input variables that lead to the most reasonable results. The predictive performance of each combination was evaluated quantitatively by comparing the dimensions and matching rates between the simulated and observed oil slicks extracted from synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data on the ocean surface. The results show that the combination incorporating the Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model (HYCOM) for hydrodynamic parameters exhibited more substantial agreement with the observed spill areas than Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service (CMEMS), yielding up to 88% and 53% similarity, respectively, during a more than four-day oil transportation near Taean coasts. This study underscores the importance of integrating high-resolution met-ocean models into oil spill modeling efforts to enhance the predictive accuracy regarding oil spill dynamics and weathering processes.

SAR 위성영상 해수유동 정보추출 및 활용 (Analysis and application of ocean currents information extracted from SAR satellite image)

  • 인공위성영상을 이용한 해양정보 추출을 위하여 SAR 위성영상을 이용한 해수유동 정보 추출을 연구하였다. SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) 위성영상의 도플러 쉬프트 정보를 이용한 해수유동 정보 추출은 적용기술의 근본적 한계로 인하여 실제 유속이 아니라 위성궤도의 법선방향에 대한 유속장도만을 제시하는 문제가 있다. 이러한 한계 및 문제점을 극복하기 위하여 본 연구에서는 위성영상 촬영과 동일한 시간에 동일한 해역에서 해수유동을 관측하고, 관측된 해수유동 정보를 이용하여 위성영상에서 추출된 해수유동 정보를 보완 검증하였다. 위성영상 추출 해수유동정보의 위성궤도 법선방향 유속강도는 관측된 해수유동 유향분포도에 근거하여 실제 해수유동 유향에 맞게 보정될 수 있었으며, 보정된 해수유동 정보는 실제 해수유동 분포를 잘 반영할 수 있었다.

선박 레이다용 60W X-band Cascade SSPA 구현 (An implementation of 60W X-band Cascade SSPA for Marine Radar System)

  • 본 논문에서는 펄스압축 된 X-대역 마이크로파 신호를 60와트의 출력전력과 30%이상의 전력부가효율(PAE)으로 증폭시키는 반도체증폭기(SSPA)를 구현에 대하여 논의하였다. 구현된 60W의 SSPA는 케스케이드 결합 증폭기로 설계하였고 케스케이드(cascade) 결합 증폭기는 내부정합된 GaAs FET를 3단으로 구동증폭기를 설계하였으며 주 전력증폭단은 내부정합된 GaN HEMT(High Electron Mobility Transistor)로 설계하였다. 구현된 SSPA는 주파수 범위 $9.41{\pm}0.03GHz$, 펄스 주기 1ms, 펄스폭 100us, 듀티사이클 10% 조건에서 전체 이득 37dB 이상, 48dBm(60W)의 출력전력의 성능을 나타내었어 구현된 SSPA는 펄스압축기술을 이용한 디지털 선박용 레이다에 적용할 수 있다.
