해상기상정보의 활용도 향상을 위한 설문조사분석 (Survey Research Analysis for Enhancing the Utilization Level of Marine Meteorological Information)

  • A survey of professionals employed in marine related fields was conducted on subjects related to marine meteorological forecasts and special reports. The outcome of the survey indicated that the respondents were overall satisfied with the determination of the zones related to marine meteorological forecasts and special reports and with the number of forecast factors, but in regards to the questions about specific adjustment methods, it was found that the respondents perceived a need for adjustment. In addition, although there was a high consensus among the respondents that the criteria for watch and warning in the marine special reports were suitable, they voiced the opinion that it will be necessary to implement changes in the current criteria for watch and warning in order to further improve the compatibility of the criteria. The survey found that there was a high level of utilization for the marine meteorological information provided by the Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA), and that respondents mostly acquired this information via internet and TV. On the other hand, however, the satisfaction level regarding the accuracy of the marine meteorological information was low in comparison to the utilization level. The survey regarding areas for improvement in the forecasts and special reports also indicated that the need for 'improvement in the accuracy of forecasts' was cited most frequently.

자란만 패류양식해역의 물리환경 설명을 위한 평균체류시간 산정 (Assessing Average Residence Time as a Physical Descriptor for Shellfish Farming Areas in Jaran Bay, Korea)

  • Residence time is defined as the time taken for a material in a system to leave the system. The residence time characteristics in shellfish aquaculture determine the dispersion of excretion from aquaculture farms, along with the supply of food by seawater exchange. In this study, we estimated the spatial distribution of average residence time in the shellfish farming area using a particle tracking model. As a result, a relatively short average residence time of about 20 days or less was calculated in most areas, but an average residence time of more than 40 days was calculated in the inner areas. Relatively long average residence times were calculated along the west coast compared to the east coast, with the longest average residence time of more than 50 days in the northwestern areas. It can be inferred that the disturbance of the benthic ecosystem caused by shellfish farms is likely to be large because of the relatively weak dispersion of excrement from shellfish farms located on the west coast, especially in the northwest region. This distribution of average residence time is important for understanding the potential effects of seawater exchange on the environmental sustainability of shellfish farms, along with the seawater circulation characteristics of Jaran Bay.

  • 본 연구에서는 해양레저의 국내외 현황을 소개하고 국내 해양 레저와 요트 산업의 현황과 문제점에 대하여 분석하여 개선 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 먼저 해양레저의 해외 우수 사례를 소개한다. 아울러 국내 해양 레저와 요트 산업의 현황과 문제점에 대하여 분석하여 개선 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 또한 향후 해양레저 산업의 전망을 분석하였다.

Southwestward Intrusion of Korea Strait Bottom Cold Water Observed in 2003 and 2004

  • Hydrographic surveys were carried out four times in the western channel of the Korea Strait in March and August 2003 and in June and November 2004. The bottom cold water, which was lower than $10^{\circ}C$, appeared in the channel trough except in March 2003. It flowed southwestward along the shelf of Korean coasts in August 2003 and in November 2004. The width and the maximum speed of the intrusion current were about 20 km and approximately $25\;cm\;s^{-1}$, respectively, off Ulsan, Korea. The volume transport of the bottom cold water was estimated 0.019 Sv ($Sv{\equiv}10^6\;m^3\;s^{-1}$) in August 2003 and 0.026 Sv in November 2004.

항만 내 교통류 시뮬레이션에 기초한 혼잡도 평가 (Assessment of Degree of Congestion based on Marine Traffic Flow Simulation for Harbor Area)

  • 본 논문에서 저자들은 혼잡도의 관점에서 해상 교통 환경에 대한 평가를 시도하였다. 이를 위해서 우선 평가를 위한 정보를 얻기 위하여 해상 교통류에 대한 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 이 시뮬레이션은 해상 교통 환경에 대한 광범위한 자료 조사를 바탕으로 하며 통계적인 방법들을 이용하여 이 조사 자료들을 시뮬레이션에 반영하였다. 다음으로 충돌 회피 시스템 개발을 위하여 제안된 충돌 위험도 추론 방법들을 이용하여 혼잡도 정의와 추론을 시도하였다. 이와 같이 정량화된 혼잡도는 해상 교통 환경의 설계 및 개선에 유용한 많은 정보를 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

A Proposal on the Navigation Supporting System for improving the Marine Traffic Safety

  • In near future, more congested and dangerous marine traffic environment due to the rapid marine traffics increase and ship handling difficulty by enlargement of ship size is predicted. In this paper, an navigation supporting system proposal made to enhance the safe navigation by providing the collision avoidance informations to the navigator via marine traffic environment assessment. Proposed navigation supporting system displays results of marine traffic environment assessment, degree of the dangers and gives reason of danger which is enhance situational awareness of navigator. For this purpose, results of marine traffic environment assessment which is obtained via real time assessment sent to the designated server and through the connection with navigation supporting system navigator being enable to see all those informations on the computer screen Navigator would utilize those information to make a decision in the difficult waterways and thus safe navigation could be enhanced.

황해 동부해역 표층퇴적물의 중금속 농도 분포 (Distribution of Heavy Metal Concentrations in Surface Sediments of the eastern Yellow Sea)

  • 황해 동부해역 표층퇴적물의 중금속 분포 특성을 파악하기 위하여 입도, 유기탄소(TOC)와 함께 중금속 원소들(Cu, Pb, Zn, Cd, Cr, Mn, As, Ni, Co, Li, Fe, Al)의 농도를 분석하였다. 연구결과에 따르면, 일부 정점에서 Pb, Mn, As를 제외하면 모든 중금속 농도의 분포는 입도 및 TOC의 분포와 유사하게 황해 중앙해역에서 상대적으로 높고, 한국 연안으로 갈수록 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 입도와 중금속 농도간의 관계를 통하여 대부분의 금속은 입도가 세립할수록 농도가 높게 나타나는 일반적인 경향을 보였다. 그러나 일부 정점에서 Pb은 조립질 퇴적물에서의 암석기원(feldspar) 영향, Mn은 생물기원($CaCO_3$) 영향, As는 중광물(pyrite) 특성에 따라 분포 양상이 다르게 나타났다. 과거에 조사한 자료(2000년)와 비교했을 때, 황해 동부해역에서 지난 15년 동안의 추가적인 중금속 농축은 없었고, 투기해역에 대한 저질환경은 과거에 비해 크게 개선되지 못한 것으로 나타났다. 연구해역 내 모든 중금속의 농도는 한국과 중국에서 규정하고 있는 최소기준(TEL, MSQ-1)보다 낮았지만, 농축지수(enrichment factor; EF), 농집지수(geo-accumulation index; $I_{geo}$), 생태위해성지수(ecological risk index; ERI)는 Cu, Pb, Zn, Cr이 황해 중앙해역에서 상대적으로 높게 나타났다.
