  • In these days many korean people have much interested in oceanic sports and oceanic leisure equipment.. However, the current condition for the marine leisure in korea are not advanced even worse than wnderdeveloped countries.. Recently several suggestion for vitalization on the marine leisure industry and preparations of the laws & the regulations for marine leisure.. This paper suggest the new marina model using ubiquitous sensor network to reduce the risk of the policy and the investment in the filed og marine leisure industry.

  • The more the need for coastal leisure and sports and the expansion of marina, the more the need for the studies about marina. But little research has been done from the point of coastal tourism. The purpose of this study is to recognize marina as a kind of tourist attraction and analyze the effect of marina landscape design to images. The findings of results suggested that perceived images were significant to the functionality of landscape design, however, emotional images were partly significant to the symbolicity of landscape design. This study will contribute to establish the landscape regulations about marina in the central and local government.

  • From March 1998 to August 2000, the phenological and morphometric changes of Zostera marina L. were examined at the Duksan Port in the eastern coast of Korea. Morphometric characteristics, phenological stage, shoot density, biomass of Z. marina population and environmental parameters were also measured. Nutrient levels in water column varied over the season. Morphometric characteristics of vegetative shoot changed with season; shoot heights ranged from 54.2 cm (March) to 100.0 cm (October). Reproductive shoots appeared from mid-March to early September of which the height was ranged from 97.8 cm (March) to 213.0 cm (July). The flowering phase started at 12$^{\circ}C$ and the fruit development was resulted up to 21$^{\circ}C$. The seed maturing was developed at 22$^{\circ}C$-$25^{\circ}C$. Shoot density and biomass in permanent quadrate (0.25 m$^2$) were significantly different among seasons ranging from 38 to 136 shoots (mean 80.3$\pm$6.5) for shoot density, and 190 g dry wt m$^{-2}$ in October 1998 to 922 g dry wt m$^{-2}$ in June 1998 for biomass respectively. Relationships between shoot morphometrics and physico-chemical parameters were not significantly correlated. Seasonal changes in water temperature seemed responsible for the replacement of reproductive phases and the annual changes of shoot morphometrics in Z. marina populations.

  • Environmental management and design based on the coastal characteristics are highly recommended because it is highly required to provide pleasant and safe environment in Marina. The coastal environment have a large spatial and temporal variations. Thus, the systematic survey monitoring should be planned and the practical management level should be determined based on the practically achievable level and minimum requirement not a standardized single criteria. It aimed to suggest the basic essential steps and related techniques needed in each step.

  • This study analyzes the operating conditions of domestic marinas in response to changes in coastal and marine leisure trends and demand for recreational boats, and suggests ways to improve services according to the types and functions of marinas. In order to popularize marine leisure and to foster coastal and marine tourism industry, the 'Act on the Development, Management, etc. of Marinas' was enacted in 2009 and 'The 1st Marina Basic Plan' was established, and more than 34 marinas are operated nationwide. In order for domestic marinas to be used as an infrastructure for marine leisure activities, measures for enhancing service functions should be prepared in accordance with the size and characteristics of marinas.

  • Marinas are often located in prime port side locations. hi Korea these locations are already developed and reclamation of the existing properties poses many difficulties and financial overhead. Also, to develop a standard marina in Korea with tide ranges up to 6 meters would require considerable dredging and reclamation works needing long lead times and large SOC costs. The Ocean Space's floating marina system is an independent offshore floating static level system that does not require fixed location breakwaters. The entire marina floats with the tide giving a calm consistent berthing condition for vessels irrespective of the surrounding tide and weather conditions. The floating marina system provides also for all of functions needed to marina comprising a breakwater to protect the vessels, the pontoon system to house the vessels, a dub house and retail tourism precinct, fuel reservoir and associated support facilities in a turn key self contained unit. The modular nature of the system will mean that initial demand can be met with simple units and then further modules can be added quite easily without the related expansion difficulties or infrastructure. This paper contains the main characteristics of the floating marina system and tire design process of the structure. The mooring, motion & stability analysis, the overall & local structural design and the mooring & anchor system design are introduced in this paper.

  • Eelgrass, Zostera marina L. widely spreads throughout all the coastal areas of the Korean Peninsula. However, some previously reported eelgrass populations disappeared. The disappearance was probably caused by anthropogenic disturbance such as reclamation and pollutant or exceeded nutrient release. Eelgrass beds occurred from the intertidal to the subtidal zone, mainly in lagoon, estuaries, ports, barrier reef and bays. Eelgrass beds were also found at the intertidal mud and sand flats, subtidal mud and sandbank in more exposed areas. Habitat characteristics of eelgrass beds distributed on the coasts of the Korean Peninsula varied among coast areas. Eelgrass distributed constantly throughout the southern coast of Korea, while the distribution was limited at lagoon, bay, port, or barrier reef on the eastern coast, because of steep water depth and high wave energy in that coast. On the western coast, eelgrass mainly appeared at the intertidal and subtidal zones in islands. Sediment characteristics of the Z. marina beds varied with locality, tidal current and water motion. Sediments of Z. marina beds were composed of sand, muddy sand, sandy mud and mud. Mean grain size ranged from 1.5 to 4.1 phi.
