The quality of navigation service is determined by the accuracy of the available data. For existing navigation services, a full map update is provided in order to keep the map data of mobile devices current. As content and services of mobile devices have recently been diversifying, the size of map data managed in mobile devices has increased, reaching several gigabytes in size. It generally takes tens of minutes to write several gigabytes of data into mobile device storage. For traditional navigation systems, a complicated storage structure called a physical storage format (PSF) is used to assure maximum processing performance of map data in mobile devices within limited resources. Consequently, even though modified navigation map data actually affects only a portion of a map, the full map data is updated because partial updates are not possible. In this paper, a navigation system is studied to solve this difficult partial map update problem. The map air update navigation system, which is the result of this study, provides real-time partial map updating using wireless communications.

National Geographic Institute recently has produced a national paper map by means of a computer aided editing system using a national digital map 2.0. However, the map generalization should be made due to the portrayal difference between the digital map and the paper one and the criterion of the map generalization should be determined by the visual image. The tolerance limit of the map generalization has to be decided based on human vision. For this purpose, this study attempts to measure the size of the building on various scale map and then analyze its result. As a consequence, this study shows us that the building size eligible for human vision should be over 0.4mm in the short side of building on the map. The tolerance limit of an isolated building, a reduced building and a densely built-up area for the map generalization is based on the criterion mentioned above.
Recently, real time services have been demanding a lot and the number of mobile devices is increasing extremely. Many researchers are focusing on decreasing handoff or signaling cost, produced when mobile devices are moving around. With these efforts, HMIPv6(Hierarchical Mobile Internet Protocol Version 6) was proposed. Mobile nodes do not need to register their locations to Home Agents whenever crossing over subnets within a MAP domain. In HMIPv6, mobile nodes choose the farthest MAP without considering node mobility pattern. However, a large MAP domain is not always efficient for a slow moving node and required additional work to choose a MAP in HMIPv6. Hence, this paper proposes 'Performance Analysis of HMIPv6 applying adaptive MAP Domain Site'.
In this study, a deformation mechanism map of metallic nanocrystalline materials(NCMs) using the phase mixture model is proposed. It is based on recent modeling that appears to provide a conclusive description of the phenomenology and the mechanisms underlying the mechanical properties of NCMs. The proposed models adopted the concept of a 'phase mixture' in which the grain interior and the grain boundaries are treated as separate phases. The volume fraction of this grain boundary 'phase' may be quite appreciable in a NCM. Based on the theoretical model that provides an adequate description of the grain size dependence of plasticity covering all grain size range from coarse down to the nanoscale, the tensile deformation response of NCMs, especially focusing on the deformation mechanisms was investigated. The deformation mechanism map is newly proposed with axes of strain rate, grain size and temperature.

GIS (Geographic Information Systems) technology is a necessary function to support location based on service by using GPS in the mobile environment. These mobile systems have basic functional limitations such as a low rate of processing, limited memory capacity, and small screen size. Because of these limitations, most of the mobile systems require development of a reduced digital map to overcome problems with large-volume spatial data. In this paper, we suggest using the reduced digital map format in order to use location based on service in a PDA environment. The processing of the proposed data format consists of map generation, redefinition of layers, creating polygons, and format conversion. The proposed data format reduces the data size by about 98% comparing with DXF format based on the digital map of Busan.

In this study, optimum processing condition of AZ31 Mg alloy was investigated utilizing processing map and constitutive equation considering microstructure evolution (dynamic recrystallization) during hot-working. A series of mechanical tests were conducted at various temperatures and strain rates to construct a processing map and to formulate the recrystallization kinetics and grain size relation. Dynamic recrystallization (DRX) was observed to occur revealing maximum intensity at a domain of $250^{\circ}C$ and 1/s. The effect of DRX kinetics on microstructure evolution was implemented in a commercial FEM code followed by remapping of the state variables. The volume fraction and grain size of deformed part were predicted using a modified FEM code and compared with those of actual hot forged one. A good agreement was observed between the experimental results and predicted ones.

Recently, the web map services with standard interfaces have been developed to a high degree for the purpose of sharing of spatial data through the web. Among the various kinds of works related, the specification for the web map service released by Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) is the most prominent, and is nearly adopted as international standard (ISO/DIS 19128) in developing the web map servers. The web map server of OGC, however, provides the insufficient capabilities for mobile applications. Unlike the wired applications, the mobile applications would require the map server to minimize of size of data transferred, because the size of data is very important factor in communication cost and the response time of map clients. And the mobile applications require different quality of map according to the screen size of mobile devices. The mobile application, also require some application specific queries. In this paper, We have Proposed the interfaces for mobile web map services (M-WMS) which fully comply with the standard interfaces proposed in OGC. And we have designed and implemented the web map server for mobile map services. This paper has contributed to construction and practical use of the web map servers in mobile applications, such as LBS and telematics.
We measure the degree of polarization of the lunar regolith to map the distributions of the age and the particle size. We use a 12cm refracting telescope with a 2k-square pixel color CCD (R band) and a polarization filter. The angular resolution obtained is 3.02 km/pixel. Our goal is to obtain a map of the lunar particle size distribution on the lunar regolith and then that of the age distribution. Polarization of the light scattered by lunar surface contains information on their mean particle size. The mean particle size of the lunar surface has been decreased by continued micro-meteoroid impact over a long period. One can estimate the age of the lunar surface if the mean particle size is known. Particle sizes can be measured through observations of polarization because the mean particle size is related to the maximum polarization and albedo. The age and the particle size of the lunar regolith can give vital information for the future lunar exploration.
This paper presents an efficient hybrid technique to compact the trie indexing the huge forward table small enough to be stored into cache for speeding up IP lookup. It combines two techniques, an encoding scheme called bit-map and a controlled-prefix expanding scheme to replace slow memory search with few fast-memory accesses and computations. For compaction, the bit-map represents each index and child pointer with one bit respectively. For example, when one node denotes n bits, the bit-map gives a high compression rate by consumes $2^{n-1}$ bits for $2^n$ index and child link pointers branched out of the node. The controlled-prefix expanding scheme determines the number of address bits represented by all root node of each trie's level. At this time, controlled-prefix scheme use a dynamic programming technique to get a smallest trie memory size with given number of trie's level. This paper proposes standard that can choose suitable trie structure depending on memory size of system and the required IP lookup speed presenting optimal memory size and the lookup speed according to trie level number.
Previous studies related to evacuation guidance systems are focused on the system construction, and research on manual of the standard evacuation map is insufficient. Therefore, this research is a basic study to establish the standard evacuation map, and analyzed the decision-making time according to the type and size for each component of the evacuation map. Experimental elements were derived through the review of previous studies and legal regulations. After that, decision-making time was analyzed according to the type and size of the component display method. An experiment was conducted to analyze the decision-making time according to the type and size of the component display method. Afterwards, through the statistical test, the evacuation map guidelines for smartphones were proposed.
