  • This paper presents a multi-depth map fusion method for the 3D scene reconstruction. It fuses depth maps obtained from the stereo matching technique and the depth camera. Traditional stereo matching techniques that estimate disparities between two images often produce inaccurate depth map because of occlusion and homogeneous area. Depth map obtained from the depth camera is globally accurate but noisy and provide a limited depth range. In order to get better depth estimates than these two conventional techniques, we propose a depth map fusion method that fuses the multi-depth maps from stereo matching and the depth camera. We first obtain two depth maps generated from the stereo matching of 3-view images. Moreover, a depth map is obtained from the depth camera for the center-view image. After preprocessing each depth map, we select a depth value for each pixel among them. Simulation results showed a few improvements in some background legions by proposed fusion technique.

  • This paper deals with the indoor localization problem for a SSMR (Skid Steering Mobile Robot) subjected to wheel-ground friction and with one LRF (Laser Range Finder). In order to compensate for some friction effect, a friction related coefficient is estimated by the recursive least square algorithm and appended to the maneuvering command. Also to reduce odometric information based localization errors, the lines are extracted with scan points of LRF and matched with the ones of the corresponding map built in advance. The present friction compensation and scan map matching schemes have been applied to a laboratory SSMR, and experimental results are given to validate the localization performance along an indoor corridor.

  • Fundamentally, there are 5 systems are needed for autonomous navigation of unmanned ground vehicle: Localization, environment perception, path planning, motion planning and vehicle control. Path planning and motion planning are accomplished based on result of the environment perception process. Thus, high reliability of localization and the environment perception will be a criterion that makes a judgment overall autonomous navigation. In this paper, via map matching using vehicle dynamic model and LIDAR sensors, replace high price localization system to new one, and have researched an algorithm that lead to robust autonomous navigation. Finally, all results are verified via actual unmanned ground vehicle tests.

  • Localization is the process of aligning the robot's local coordinates with the global coordinates of a map. A mobile robot's location is basically computed by a dead reckoning scheme, but this position information becomes increasingly inaccurate during navigation due to odometry errors. In this paper, the method of building a map of a robot's environment using ultrasonic sensor data and the occupancy grid map scheme is briefly presented. Then, the search and matching algorithms to compensate for the odometry error by comparing the local map with the reference map are proposed and verified by experiments. It is shown that the compensated error is not accumulated and exists within the limited range.

  • Various matching methods have been introduced by investigators to improve digital elevation model (DEM) accuracy of satellite imagery. This study proposed an area-based matching method according to land cover property using correlation coefficient of pixel brightness value between the two images for DEM generation from IKONOS stereo imagery. For this, matching line (where "matching line" implies straight line that is approximated to complex nonlinear epipolar geometry) is established by exterior orientation parameters to minimize search area. The matching is carried out based on this line. Land cover classes are divided off into water, urban land, forest and agricultural land. Matching size is selected using a correlation-coefficient image in the four areas. The selected sizes are $81{\times}81$ pixels window, $21{\times}21$ pixels window, $119{\times}119$ pixels window and $51{\times}51$ pixels window in the water area, urban land, forest land and agricultural land, respectively. And hence, DEM is generated from IKONOS stereo imagery using the selected matching sizes and land cover map on the four types.

  • An intermediate images generation method using multi-resolution based hierarchical block matching disparity map is proposed. This method is composed of a disparity estimation, an occlusion detection and intermediate image synthesis. For the disparity estimation, which is one of the important processes in intermediate image synthesis, we use the multi-resolution based hierarchical block matching algorithm to overcome the imperfect ness of block matching algorithm. The proposed method makes disparity maps more accurate and dense by multi-resolution based hierarchical block matching, and the estimated disparity maps are used to generate intermediate images of stereo images. Generated intermediate images show 0.1∼1.4 ㏈ higher PSNR than the images obtained by block matching algorithm.

  • In recently, there is growing demand for microwave absorbing matrial, and for the design method of microwave absorber. We developed a new method to design the matching frequency and matrial thick for ferrite/rubber composite absorber. Ni-Zn ferrite prepared with coprecipitation was compounded with silicon rubber, and, subsequently, pressed to ring specimen. The matrial constant of the ferrite/rubber composite absorber was used to design the matching frequency and matrial thick with matching map. In this study, we could predict matching condition from the design method. Foremore, using matching boundary map, we could also predict the condition of over 20[dB] attenuation.

  • A Stereo matching has been an important tool for reconstructing three dimensional terrain. In this stereo matching process, DEM(Digitai Elevation Map) can be generated by the disparity from reference image to target image. Generally disparity map in matching process can be implemented by wraping from reference image to target image and if the role of reference and target is interchanged, the different DEM can be obtained. To evaluate the generated DEM from matching process, We adapted the Photorealistic synthetic image generator using ray tracing technique. The generator produce two simulated image from previous DEM and Ortho-image which is regard as Ground-truth. In this paper, we are concern about estimating more accurate DEM from these two DEMs. The several fusion methods of two DEMs are proposed to generate accurate DEM and compared with previous method. one of fusion methods is by using Cross-Correlation match score and the true DEM should have a high matching score.

  • The complex permeability dispersions and the microwave absorbing phenomena are investigated in ferrite microwave absorber. The complex permeability of NiZn ferrite, NiZnCo ferrite, and Y-type hexagonal ferrite were measured in 200MHz-14GHz range. Two types of resonances, the domain wall and the spin rotational resonance, were observed. With a ferrite particle with a diameter of about $1\;\mu\textrm{m}$, only spin rotational resonance were observed. The theoretical matching frequency is determined by plotting the measured complex permeability locus on the impedance matching solution map. One or two impedance matching phenomena are observed in the ferrite absorbers according to their complex permeability loci on the impedance matching solution map. The first matching frequency, found in the ferrite-rubber composites, which was higher than that of spin rotational resonance, increased with spin rotational resonance frequency.
